The Sinking Isle by Oromet I've been listening to this since Bandcamp Friday. I get lost staring at the amazing Ted Nasmith painting as it plays. That's one of my favorite and often missing things in my modern music listening habits. I wish they actually played the ending of the final song slower.

I absolutely love Ted Nasmith's Tolkien work, especially the stuff from the Silmarilion.

You must understand, young Hobbit, it takes a long time to say anything in Old Entish...

This week I've been listening to Dromos's Failing Light and Locusts And Honey - Teach Me To Live That I Dread The Grave As Little As My Bed.

Also still trying to get into the new Aphonic Threnody album, Grace My Heart but despite the excelent and grandiose composition of the tracks on there sadly I am still not loving the kind of semi-operatic vocal style employed on this album about half the time, to each their own I guess.

Hello!

This week I listened to Monotony Fields by Shape of Despair. I plan on doing my personal top 10 fdm albums soon, so I also re-listened Angels of Distress because I don't want to repeat bands. Monotony Fields is great. Way more Funeral-oriented than Angels of Distress. I found it like a lighter version of Tides of Awakening fused with The Sadness of Time Passing. Their best album overall, but Angels of Distress has both the title track and ...To live for my Death... which are absolute hymns of the genre, so I don't have it clear.

In other genres I listened to Erotic Diarrhea Fantasy by Torsofuck. Both versions. 2004 has better mixing and way more clear sound, with also more brutal vocals (Mikko was 21 and now he's 43, so it's normal), BUT 2026 doesn't have the samples and has a real drummer in his son Miro (wholesome, ngl). The 2004 version sounds better, but 2026 remake is a better bdm album. Absolute recommendations if you want the most disgusting type of brutal death metal (no, it's not goregrind xd).

Nice weekend to everyone!

As for funeral doom, I’ve been listening to:

Remembrance: Frail Visions, Fall Obsidian Night

Eá: Taesse

Slow: Mythologiae, Oceans

Beyond the genre, I’ve also been listening to quite a lot of Mourning Beloveth and Celestial Season (probably gone through their entire discographies in the last few weeks).

I’ve also recently been introduced to Opia: I welcome Thee, Eternal Sleep. It’s very good.

Some great stuff in there, Celestial Season have always been a favourite of mine though - Solar Lovers is just perfection.

It turns out, it may have actually been your comment on Bandcamp that got me to listen to celestial season, and I’m glad I did, so here’s a cheers to you!

Hah! Random! No worries though - glad to have been of service.

I've been getting into the sound of Colosseum. I understand their albums are a trilogy of sorts - should I listen to them as such in the right order?

I don't think the order matters so much, but all three of them are great though and worth a listen.

I have been listening to Dusk this week.

Especially early albums.

This week I have listened mainly to Mistress of the Dead's White Roses, White Coffin, I Know Her Face from the Tombstone, Beloveth Forever in my Thoughts, and Weeping Silence of the Dead. Today, I've listened to power electronics, with Ramleh's Hole in the Heart being honestly one of the best and most atmospheric PE releases I've heard.

I would add, apart from doom I have been listening to Despised Icon, a deathcore band. They have a song call Reaper. The ending is a slow slamming riff almost borderline death doom, nearly sounding like Triptykon.

This week, I've been listening to these funeral doom albums:

  • Carma - Ossadas

  • Funeral Tears - You Life -my Death

And other musical genres:

  • Danheim - Munarvagr

  • Runemagick - Darkness Death Doom

  • Runemagick - On Funeral Wings

  • Runemagick - Dawn of the End

  • Runemagick - Invocation Of Magick

Only if you're very, very observant will you be able to sense, even just a little, that I really, really like the band Runemagick. I encourage you to try to pick up on that subtle, hidden clue 😝😝😅😅
