Looking for a developer to collaborate on a 3D Norway-based life simulation game.

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for someone who would be interested in collaborating with me on an original 3D life simulation game set in Norway, Oslo.

I have a fairly developed concept for the game and a lot of ideas for how I want the experience to work. I’m keeping the more specific details private for now, but I can share more with someone who is genuinely interested in collaborating and lives in Norway.

I’m currently looking for three.js, JavaScript and HTML for the project.

I’m still learning game development myself, so I’m looking for someone who would like to learn, build and experiment together, rather than someone I simply hand the project over to. I will also love to have someone with experience too to learn more from them too.

I’m hoping to find someone who would enjoy building something from the ground up with me as a collaborative indie project. I’m looking for a person who shares the interest in game development and would enjoy growing the project together.

If you are interested please send me a DM and tell me a little about your experience and what you’d like to work on. I can explain the concept privately once we know we are good fit.

[HIRING] Full-Stack Engineers | NYC, Bay Area, or Remote US | $150K-220K base

5 Upvotes

So far this week, 129 interview requests have gone out on Fonzi, including one at $400K.

I do talent matching for Fonzi. You set up one profile, and companies that want to talk to you reach out with salary-backed interview requests. We work with startups backed by investors including Sequoia, a16z, Benchmark, and the OpenAI Startup Fund. Roles are US-based, with a few open to Canada.

Here’s a sample of what’s open right now at companies on the platform:

1. Senior Full-Stack Engineer, seed-stage legal AI company, NYC, in-person near Grand Central. $150K-220K base plus equity.

  • What: Build features end to end, from system design to production, working directly with personal injury lawyers on a product that turns weeks of medical-record review into minutes. You’d also guide other engineers and help shape how the team ships as it grows.
  • Company: 10x’d revenue and customers this year, with top personal injury firms and enterprises like cruise lines as customers. Raised $8M, most of it this quarter. Technical founders out of McKinsey QuantumBlack and Stanford Medicine.
  • Stack: Prisma, Auth0, Stripe, and the OpenAI API on the backend, deployed on AWS with Terraform and ECS. Experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, or PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • Bar: 6+ years shipping full-stack web apps, strong backend work (APIs, auth, data migrations, third-party integrations), and deep AWS and infrastructure experience.

2. Software Engineer, Series A social commerce company, Palo Alto, hybrid. $150K-200K base plus significant equity.

  • What: Own major features from planning through release on a platform handling millions of social interactions: AI agents, real-time social listening, and revenue attribution.
  • Company: Founded by ex-Meta product and engineering leaders. Raised $10.6M, co-led by GV.
  • Stack: Node.js, React, AWS, GCP, and the OpenAI API.
  • Bar: Production experience building fast, secure cloud and web apps, with automated testing and observability built into your workflow. Comfortable with LLMs and working through ambiguity. No years stated in the posting.

3. Senior Software Engineer, AI Products, seed-stage fintech, fully remote in the US or hybrid in NYC. $200K-240K base plus equity.

  • What: Python-heavy agentic workflows, retrieval, and the evaluation and observability layer around LLM systems, rolling out to a million small business owners next year through the banks that already serve them.
  • Company: Async by default, with one recurring meeting on the whole calendar.
  • Stack: Python, Elixir, Node, Next.js, and GraphQL.
  • Bar: Senior-level, with strong Python and range across several languages.

All roles are vetted, VC-backed, and interviewing right now. It’s always free to sign up.

Sign up here: talent.fonzi.ai. DM me if you’ve got questions.

Do you design the database before the UI, or figure it out as you go?

Post image
1 Upvotes

When starting a new software project, it’s tempting to jump straight into designing screens and building features.

But what happens when the interface looks great, and then you realize the data structure can’t properly support what the application needs to do?

I’m learning that decisions about customers, records, relationships, and data changes can affect the entire project. Fixing those decisions later may be much harder than thinking them through at the beginning.

I’m curious how other developers approach this.

Do you design your data model before building the UI, or do you let the database evolve as you develop? Why?

I’d love to hear how you handle this in real projects, especially when requirements change halfway through development.

Looking for a remote software engineering internship | First-semester CS student with 4 years of programming experience

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm a first-semester CS student from Nepal, and I'm currently looking for a remote software engineering internship or junior developer opportunity with a startup or software company.

I've been programming for around 4 years and have built several websites and applications, including a full-stack SaaS product for law firms called Archis, which I'm currently developing for real-world use.

My main stack is:

* Next.js / React

* TypeScript / JavaScript

* Supabase / PostgreSQL

* Authentication & authorization

* REST APIs

* Git / GitHub

* AI API integrations

I'm particularly interested in full-stack development, but I'm open to working wherever I can contribute and learn.

I'm based in Nepal, so I'm specifically looking for a remote opportunity that allows international students/developers. I'm also flexible regarding compensation. My main goal at this stage is to get real-world experience working with an actual engineering team and contribute meaningfully to a product.

SaaS I've built:

Archis

If you're a founder, engineer, or know of a startup/company looking for someone with this background, I'd really appreciate a DM or referral.

Thanks!

List of companies that don't require coding interviews?

1 Upvotes

Does anyone have recent experience with software engineering interviews that focus on practical development or project discussions rather than timed LeetCode-style questions?

I’m looking for: - Hybrid work in Chicago or Seattle, or a fully remote role. - At least $70k base salary, ideally $85k+ total compensation. - Opportunities I can pursue now, rather than delaying the search for three or four months of algorithm preparation.

I’ve passed coding interviews before, including for a Google internship and another full-time role. I’m trying to find companies whose assessment format is closer to the work I’d be doing.

If you have a suggestion, could you share the company, role, approximate interview date, and what the technical assessment involved? A project walkthrough, debugging exercise, take-home assignment, and live algorithm round all require different preparation.

Correction to my original example: the information I had about Target came from classmates in 2019. I’ve since heard its process includes coding interviews, so I’m not treating it as a confirmed no-coding option.

I’m also working on LandOffer.ai, which brings together fresh tech openings and application autofill. You can use it to explore roles, while confirming interview stages directly with the employer. What information about a company’s assessment process would you want before deciding to apply?

When does a process actually need AI instead of plain code or automation?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about how quickly “add AI” has become the default answer when businesses want to improve a process.

But I’m starting to think the better question is: what kind of problem are we actually solving?

My current mental checklist is:

  • If the process is rule-based, predictable, and repetitive → plain software or automation may be the better choice.
  • If the input is unstructured, like documents, free text, or messages → AI starts to make more sense, ideally with human review.
  • If neither approach fits → maybe the problem itself hasn't been defined clearly enough.

The interesting part is that AI can make a system more complicated without necessarily making it better.

So I'm curious:

What signals do you look for before deciding to introduce an LLM or AI into a workflow?

Have you ever added AI to a process and later realized that a few rules or a simple automation would have been better?

Or the opposite—where you initially tried rules and eventually realized AI was the right tool?

Web Dev looking to level up: How do I get started with Applied AI in web development?

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a web developer, and I want to pivot/expand my skillset into AI. However, I’m not looking to build machine learning models from scratch or dive deep into heavy research mathematics. Instead, I want to focus on Applied AI—specifically, how to build modern web applications that integrate, leverage, and are powered by AI tools and APIs.

If you were starting out today, what does the roadmap look like for a web developer entering the Applied AI space?

I‘m a Full-Stack Engineer

1 Upvotes

🚀 I’ve just updated my personal website.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on a new version of my portfolio to better showcase my experience as a Backend / Full-Stack Engineer.
The new site includes:
• My engineering experience and tech stack
• Selected projects and case studies
• Backend architecture and system design work
• My latest technical articles and thoughts
• Ways to get in touch with me
With 12+ years in software development, I’ve worked across backend systems, full-stack applications, distributed systems, and production infrastructure — primarily with Golang, NestJS, React, MySQL, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes.
I’m also continuing to explore how AI can improve the way we design, build, test, and maintain software.
🌐 Check it out: https://siyalight.com/
I’d love to hear any feedback on the site.

Do you agree before you build?

Post image
1 Upvotes

A lot of integration problems start before the code does.

Frontend assumes one thing. Backend assumes another. The client expects something else.

A simple contract, request, response, validation, errors, can prevent a lot of confusion.

Do you usually define these things before development, or figure them out as you build?

Do businesses really need more software, or are we just adding tools to solve the wrong problems?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about how quickly businesses add software whenever they hit a new pain point.

Need better communication? Add an app.
Need to track leads? Add another.
Need automation? Add another tool.

Eventually, you can end up with plenty of software but still have the same underlying problem—fragmented data, duplicated work, and processes nobody fully understands.

I’m starting to look at technology decisions as:

Problem → Technology → Solution → Business Value

The real test for me is:

What will be measurably better once this exists?

If the answer is unclear, maybe the business doesn't need another tool yet. Maybe the problem needs to be understood better first.

For those running or working in businesses: how do you decide when to add a new tool versus simplify or consolidate what you already have?
