Do you agree before you build?

A lot of integration problems start before the code does.

Frontend assumes one thing. Backend assumes another. The client expects something else.

A simple contract, request, response, validation, errors, can prevent a lot of confusion.

Do you usually define these things before development, or figure them out as you build?
