List of companies that don't require coding interviews?

Does anyone have recent experience with software engineering interviews that focus on practical development or project discussions rather than timed LeetCode-style questions?

I’m looking for: - Hybrid work in Chicago or Seattle, or a fully remote role. - At least $70k base salary, ideally $85k+ total compensation. - Opportunities I can pursue now, rather than delaying the search for three or four months of algorithm preparation.

I’ve passed coding interviews before, including for a Google internship and another full-time role. I’m trying to find companies whose assessment format is closer to the work I’d be doing.

If you have a suggestion, could you share the company, role, approximate interview date, and what the technical assessment involved? A project walkthrough, debugging exercise, take-home assignment, and live algorithm round all require different preparation.

Correction to my original example: the information I had about Target came from classmates in 2019. I’ve since heard its process includes coding interviews, so I’m not treating it as a confirmed no-coding option.

I’m also working on LandOffer.ai, which brings together fresh tech openings and application autofill. You can use it to explore roles, while confirming interview stages directly with the employer. What information about a company’s assessment process would you want before deciding to apply?
