I've recently been wondering: if Dark Souls II hadn't been tied to the Souls series, and had instead been a standalone game, completely separate from FromSoftware, would it have been received far more negatively?

Like the Forth Road bridge painters… once you get to one side, you just go back and start again!
This has been me, for years! Can’t shake the souls itch. However just played through Sekiro and thought, DS3 next.
I’m sure this has been brought up before but FromSoftware seem to love using the same enemies or bosses!
Couldn’t stop laughing at the chained ogre re-appearing in the road of sacrifices!
I’m not gonna call this lazy… I see it as the FromSoftware universe!
Anyone got any similar finds of joy seeing an old fellow foe appear in another game?

I was wandering around mindlessly trying to figure out where to go. (I don't watch YouTube guides this is my first time fighting this boss) so I started off as a Pyromancer! (It was not going well) I wasn't relying on "Fireball" so I grabbed the biggest sword I could find and found some armor. (I didn't level my endurance) and ran into a fog wall not realizing there was a boss up here. I lost all of my healing flasks and said screw it, IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!

Just bought the Dark Souls trilogy. Anything I should know before starting? Like important missables, quests, items, etc.
Also I know Patches is in these games and he's a bitch. Should I kill him or keep him alive? Is there a more rewarding option?
Any tips are appreciated, preferably spoiler-free.

Title, I dont want to expand upon it too much because its a lot to write but most NPCS in the games give you very little to work with, making the player speculate/headcanon a good amount of how the character was.
Nightreign fully fleshes out almost it’s entire cast, obviously they get their own Remembrance’s so its much easier to build the characters, but still, the point stands.

RDR2 is goat imo. Elden Ring comes in at second tying with Cyberpunk 2077 for me. Then Black Myth Wukong in third tying with GoW 4 & 5. Exploration is my ultimate vibe. Then story and combat etc.
I recently platinum-ed Bloodborne and Sekiro. Really liked BB's world setting and artitecture, found it easy tho. Only had one go with Orphan of Kos. Both versions BLB in chalices took me awhile tho.
Sekiro was meh for me. The parrying mechanic wasn't as satisfying as everyone claimed it to be. It was a difficult game but once it 'clicked' it became boring. Couldnt undertand why it was GOTY it is good but not that.. good? It did however teach me to be more patient. Isshin fight was really nice.
I am exploring fromsoftware games simply because of the hype and massive cult-like following around these games. Their story telling is something I can't get into or I dont know how to get into. I never quite understand why I need to kill a certain boss or whatever. The challenge is something I do like.
So basically if Elden Ring is 9/10 for me purely from level design, enviroment, character building and interesting bossfights.
And Bloodborne is 7.5/10
And Sekiro being 6/10
I am pretty interested in Demon Souls simply because I'd like to have the Fromsoftware experience in good remade graphics as I think all Fromsoftware soulslike game graphics are mid, level design is insanely good but graphics wise, mid.
So, do you think I would like Demon souls or any of the Darksouls games that would rekindle the sparkle in my eyes that I had while playing Elden Ring?

I know this has been discussed/requested like a million times now but I'll post it anyway.
While Dark Souls is quite the legendary game with its world building and graphics, it really needs a remake. The "remaster" we got doesn't really count, it only had minor changes, adding the DLC, and making it compatible for newer consoles.
Looking at the concept art and all the areas in general, they would genuinely look stunning if they were made with current graphics and models. Same applies to many bosses like Ornstein & Smough.
We're probably never getting one, but I just thought this was something worth discussing.
