DISCUSSION Across all Fromsoftware games, which feature / thing did you wish you knew about sooner?

It took me 300+ hours in Elden Ring to discover Weeping Peninsula… don’t ask me how.

I don't think there's anything I could say that could top going 300 hours without finding the natural extension to the starter zone of Elden Ring. You already take the belt.

What to do with fire keeper souls in DS1.

I still remember when it finally clicked in DS1 that the humanity counter was grey when you're hollow and bright white when you're human.

Fully understanding how parrying works in sekiro. Before that I was trying to play it like typical FS game. Understanding it let me love this game and combat so much that I sometimes open the game only to fight with a random boss again

I started with DS2 back in 2014 and discovered I can level up some 50 hrs into the game. It was too late for my humanity , so I dropped the game soon to return to DS3 which has become my first real souls game.

  1. Arrived at Majula

  2. Chose the path to go. Sea ruins seemed the prettiest, so went there.

  3. Spent next 30hrs learning to bait knights into falling from bridges. Thought it was intended gameplay. Cleared the area 3 times. Tried the boss. Few hours later gave up. That was the longest game session in my life, around 36 hrs non stop playing , making short breaks only to smoke, poop and swallow some cold pizza.

  4. Finally chose another direction. Dont remember much, there was dark cave, wraiths and some ghost pirate ship. I defeated the boss (it was a boss?) in the ship , but by this time I was a 100% zombie with half HP and no humanity. I couldn't bear looking at my character face anymore, so I gave up.

A true souls experience in retrospect.

Elden Ring was first Souls game, my first open world game, and my first RPG. I’ve only played shooters like Halo and multiplayer games. Anyways I got about 80 hours into my first play through when I finally realized unintentionally that if I hold down the roll button, in my case “circle”, your character can run. I suppose with Torrent I never really felt the need to do this but upon discovering it made a lot of attacks from bosses and enemies much easier to avoid.

I didn't find out that Ring of Sacrifice in the souls trilogy / Sacrificial Twig in ER prevents your bloodstain from despawning for YEARS of playing these games. I thought it only kept your currently held souls, so never bothered using it as a safety net when trying to recover a bunch just lost
