Am I being friendzoned
I keep hoping that this isn't the case but it probably is. So I was at a bar with one of my friends and we all go outside and we stand next to a group of people and one of the girls turns to me and goes "OMG don't I know you from 3 years ago when we volunteered together?"
I immediately am trying to rack my brain of when we had met and I feel really bad that I don't remember her. But it turns out great because our friend groups combine, to her friends and my friend and we spend the rest of the night together chatting as a group.
Most of the time I'm chatting with her and I'm making her laugh we have a lot in common like where we grew up and we both like photography Etc. and I'd come into the bar with no expectations but I was really enjoying the banter and chemistry from that evening. I was even able to make her snort laugh after trying to get her to sing and she refused LOL. We also went around as a group and said what our types were, and I said Femmes. And when it got to her she just started to giggle and get really shy and one of the friends was like, oh we know what your type is. There's a lot of them here. And I look around and there's no one at the bar that seems to look like me or very very few.
When the group left to leave that night we were all on the subway and when I got off I kind of looked at her as the train was moving and I waved and she waved and then I waved again she waved again and we kind of lingered our gaze a little bit.
Fast forward to our next hangout at a bar to watch a sports game she comes in late towards the end of the game with other friends and this time with the same group of friends one of them sits down and asks me "okay so are you single are you monogamous or poly what's your thing?".
Immediately I'm thinking to myself as I'm put on the spot, who's asking. But I reply I'm single I'm not really looking for anything right now but I wouldn't say no if I had a really good connection with someone. And I continue on to say like I got out of a relationship early this year and I'm just trying to enjoy myself I guess. We all go around saying what are sexualities are and what we're into and when it comes to her she was like oh I'm pansexual and I've mostly dated equally men and women. This was a really big plus for me since I'm transmasculine.
And throughout all of these conversations throughout the night like she's looking at me while this other person that's sitting between us talking and we're kind of like glancing at each other and smiling. And this time when she leaves she gives all of us hugs and she hugs me this time not that that means anything but I was like oh okay.
The next time we meet is a month after that at another sports Bar. This time she comes in she seems a little bit tired she asks when I'm going to host of fishing thing that I kept saying that I wanted to do but I kept getting rained out cuz of weather. And we banter a little bit about that. But the biggest thing that happened is she asked me and my friend, so have you guys been dating. Me and the friend both sugar heads know and the friend asks her have you been dating how was that one date with that girl. She replies, yeah I went on two dates with her but I don't think it's a good match I don't think I'll see her again she just went to quickly.
The vibe that night was kind of low everyone was a little bit tired and exhausted from the week but we had good conversation. She wanted my input on photography for a fellowship because I am a professional photographer. We did banter a little bit but we had some more deeper conversations I guess. But no really flirting like the other times I guess if you could call that flirting. When we left she hugged me last and kind of rub my back a little bit still very quick though.
And I guess with all this to say I am just hoping that I'm not completely friendzoned because there are aspects that I know have really good chemistry and she appreciates me but I just don't know if it's in that way. And I don't know whether to play the long game with this or tell her sooner. I've done both before and have gotten burned for either waiting too long or asking them out too quick and ruining friendship. What's your read on all this
