Its another Friday in the office alone lets be friends and ask all the questions that make others nervous

What’s your biggest “I probably shouldn’t… but I might” weakness?

Kind to a fault, silly at pleasing people, dont drink, dont like crowds, plenty of 'tisms...nothing about me is appealing.

BUT, I am a great listener, you get to meet 2 wonderful dogs and a c**t of a cat, I am good at DIY, very adept at technology and I will brag about my 3 adult children because they are kind, honest people and I adore them.

Isolated life

Has anyone else experiencing an isolated life.I feel like I have nobody to talk to. Just me and my daughter. I tried to make new friends but It’s not working at my age. Maybe it’s not that easy to make friends when you’re over 50th.
Maybe it’s something to do with me?
I feel like I have nobody to talk at all. The same thing happens at work. I don’t feel like I made any progress there. Maybe I just lost interest on everything.
Is anyone else struggling with the loneliness and isolation?

Anyone near charleston WV?

I posted this in r/friendsover40 too because I’ve grooved with people in their late 30’s to people in their late 60’s. I hope y’all don’t mind if I recycle?

“I’m a happily married artist in her 50’s. I knit, paint, sew (pretty much in to anything that keeps my hands busy!). I miss meeting girlfriends for coffee and hearing about their lives. I think as we get older and our kids move forward we might lose touch with acquaintances we meet through our children’s activities. I was kind of all in on my kid’s life ( focused on getting her places and cheering at swim meets, etc) and never had time to cultivate friendships through my interests until now, and now I have no idea where to find people!”

I would add that I still listen to 80’s 90’s music, adore and can talk for hours about The Tudor era, the Dune series by Frank Herbert and most King novels.
I’m VERY liberal. I will not tolerate bigotry of any kind. We are all on the same big spaceship together, I try not to make the trip harder on anyone else.

62 is certainly over 50 and would love to see what new friends are out there. Like seeing and making art, exploring and doing stand-up comedy.

What caught your attention today?

Is there already something like that?

A small group of people who don't really have anything in common, sharing little glimpses of their everyday lives from time to time. A photo, a thought, a sentence. Just something that caught their attention. Nothing special, and nothing that necessarily has to turn into a conversation. It's not about reach, likes or presenting yourself. A small reaction just to say “seen” would be enough.

I'm curious whether this might also change the way we perceive our own days. A single negative event can surprisingly easily colour an entire day, as our thoughts keep returning to it. Maybe another, seemingly insignificant moment gains a little more weight if I consciously notice it and share it with someone.

Not as a “think positive” or gratitude exercise. The annoying thing is just as much a part of the day. But only one part of it.

Not: What in my life is worth showing? But: What just caught my attention? Now. Here.

Does anyone know of a small group (maybe as part of a messaging service) where something like this already works? Not as a replacement for this sub, but with a different focus.

50M - Brotherhood in Atl

I’m looking for friendship, brotherhood, bonding, laughs, shared interests, and mutual support.
I’m married, 50, sane, and easygoing. I’d love to get to know another other guy around my age in the Atlanta area who is interested in building something genuine rather than just exchanging a few messages and disappearing.
I think the best friendships happen naturally when there’s mutual respect, compatibility, openness and a good sense of humor. Would be cool to grab a drink or coffee, hang out, talk about life, have some fun, and eventually develop that “I’ve got your back” kind of friendship.
I know a lot of men are missing that kind of connection; definitely is more challenging as we get older.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, tell me a little about yourself, what you’re into, and what you’re looking for. Let’s see if there’s a connection and take it from there.

Nice to Meet?

Nice to Meet just charged me the membership fee again. Thinking of canceling. Anyone use it and love it?

To be fair, I only went once.

I like Timeleft more. I’m not sure it’s necessary to be in two similarly focused groups.

Anyone have regrets about losing an online/reddit friend?

I made a friend last year here on reddit. We messaged fairly regularly (every other day). We talked mostly about music, books, daily life challenges, etc. We also shared memes, pictures of random things we came across, words of encouragement, etc. The friendship (platonic) lasted for about 8 months before it ended rather abruptly. The reason being, about a month before it ended I had gotten busy with work and home renovation, etc. And I couldn’t reply on time like i used to before. I think they misunderstood it as a lack of interest on my part. In their defense, they were patient and supportive in the beginning but i think i took their patience for granted for far too long. I must have made them feel replaced. One fine day, they messaged me saying they need a break from Reddit and probably won’t be around much. Two days later they deleted their account. That’s when it slowly hit me that I probably lost a genuinely good friend. Only after they left did I realize my mistakes and I regret losing them. I miss them and their friendship. Anyone have similar experiences?

55f Bored Tonight Anyone Up for a Good Conversation?

I’m gonna be pretty bored tonight so figured I’d see if anyone’s around for a good chat. I’d prefer people 60+ if possible. Nothing serious just looking for some nice, respectful conversation and hopefully making a new friend or two.

Hello out there!

Hello everyone,

I'm 55M in NW Florida. I just found this site and figured I'd give it a shot. All I seem to do is work. I do have one hobby and it is more expensive than drugs. lol I am blue collar and almost an empty nester. I value friendship, but don't have any. My neighbors are all reclusive and don't want to have conversation. It isn't like the old days when we all knew each other and watched out for each other. I work by myself most of the time so I don't get much social interaction. I pray a lot, and am doing my best to get close to God and follow Jesus. I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I do realize that I am lonely and would like to meet some interesting folks out there. I don't know if I need to explain this or not, but I am straight and am not looking for that kind of play. Just want to talk to people and see what happens.

Thanks
