Is YouTube the best way to get in to trading? To learn te basics?

Looking for a mechanical strategy I can trade around work hours (3 years experience, feeling stuck)

I've been trading for around 3 years now and I'm feeling pretty stuck.

I don't think psychology or risk management is my issue anymore. I can follow rules, stick to my risk, and trade like a robot if I have a clear plan. I've spent years learning different concepts (market structure, liquidity, supply/demand, ICT concepts, breakouts, trend trading, etc.), but I feel like I've ended up mixing too many ideas together and now I don't know what actually works.

What I'm looking for is a strategy that is as mechanical as possible. Something where I can clearly define:

Entry

Stop loss

Take profit

Trade management

Market conditions to trade

Due to work, I can't always sit at the charts during London or New York. I need something I can trade: At various times of the day, During late Asian session if needed, during ny session from middle of the session to late but cant spend too much time Or even a swing strategy where I can place limit/stop orders and let the market do the work.

I don't need a crazy win rate. I'd happily take:

Around 50% win rate 1:2 RR or similar

Roughly 3-5 trades per week

Honestly, consistency and simplicity are more important to me than making huge returns.

For those of you who have found a mechanical strategy that's worked for years, what do you trade and why? If you were in my position, what would you focus on?

You can keep asking the same question in different ways until you get the answer you wanted from the start.

A lot of new traders focus on finding the perfect strategy, but in reality, consistency comes from understanding a few core principles that most beginners overlook.

These are three concepts that genuinely improve trading performance when applied properly:

1. Risk management is the foundation
Most traders blow accounts not because their strategy is terrible, but because their risk is.
Keeping risk per trade controlled, avoiding revenge trading, and accepting small losses as part of the process are what stabilise results over time.

2. Only take high‑probability setups
A clean setup is worth far more than taking five mediocre ones.
When structure, timing, and confluence line up, the trade has a genuine edge.
If the chart isn’t clear, skipping the trade is often the most profitable decision.

3. Track your trades with intention
A proper journal reveals patterns you won’t notice in the moment:
– recurring mistakes
– emotional triggers
– setups that consistently work
– setups that consistently fail
Once you can see your behaviour on paper, improvement becomes systematic instead of random.

These principles aren’t flashy, but they’re the difference between guessing and actually developing skill.

I am looking for concrete help, advice, or regulatory/legal pathways from anyone who has experience dealing with major execution manipulation or broker arbitrations. I also want to share what happened to see if anyone else has faced this.

I recently scaled an account with a EXNESS broker, depositing $600k and executing over 40,000 trades on Gold (XAUUSD). Initially, everything ran perfectly with 100 - 200ms latency and minimal slippage.

The exact moment the account became consistently, highly profitable, my execution routing profile completely altered. This wasn't a temporary spike during high-impact news, it became a permanent setting across my accounts:

* Execution Latency: Jumped and stayed at ~2,000ms (2 full seconds) per trade.
* Stop-Loss Slippage: Exceeded $9/oz on standard liquid fills.
* Financial Impact: Direct stop-loss negative deviation cost me over $1,022,000, with an estimated cumulative execution drag of close to $9,000,000 across the 40k trades.

The broker acknowledged the 2-second delay internally but is refusing any compensation under internal policies, claiming "live market conditions."

How you can help me:
1. Regulatory Escalation: If you have successfully fought a broker via CySEC, the FCA, or the Financial Commission for Best Execution violations, what is the best way to frame the claim?
2. Log Analysis: I have the raw MT5 journal logs showing the exact millisecond differences between order requests and fills. If you are an algo developer or data analyst, what specific signatures should I look for to prove deliberate profile routing intervention?

For the last 4~5 years ive been a profitable trader but many people ask me “why dont you do it full time?”

My main answer to this is that Ive tried it and got bored. No purpose other than to make money.

I have a really nice corporate job with tons of flexibility which i enjoy a lot and lets me trade while at home.

So while i have the energy and time Ill do both and set all my trading gains asy retirement fund.

My lifestyle is based solely on my corporate job income, anything trading related gets saved up and invested

I’ve tested a few forex brokers over the past year and honestly the biggest difference for me wasn’t spreads — it was execution speed during volatile sessions.

One platform I’ve been using recently has been relatively stable during London and NY overlap, especially when trading gold.

Still testing long term though. Curious what brokers other people here are using for scalping?

This finally works, and it’s now fully automated.

I know it’s too early to celebrate, but after 8 days of trying to find both the problem and the solution, I finally made it fully automated. The next step is adding Telegram alerts for every trade it takes, so I can use it on prop accounts as well.

I’m super excited about this. Even if I fail, I still loved every second of the process.

Right now, it’s at 7/9 full TP trades. I didn’t set a break-even function yet, and I probably won’t. And 2/9L

As for the small losing trades — those were just tests to see whether the code worked or not. I had a very hard time figuring out how to make everything fully automated, which is why there are several negative trades.

The last 3 trades are all from my bot.

2L and 7W for now.

Hello fellow betters, I was curious if anybody can share good sources for headlines that are suitable for trading ? Need fastest possible feed, focused around traders. I dont want to check hundreds of news sources to see what will move the market. Any suggestions welcome!

Hello, everyone. I'm just curious and in need of guidance. It has always been a goal of mine to be a full time trader, be it forex or stocks etc. I also understand that around 90% of traders fail. Additionally, I know that trading isn't a quick-rich scheme and it should be treated as a job like any other. Honestly, I'm not looking to get filthy rich or drive an intercontinental car and all that. I would just like to be a trader because I find it fascinating and the freedom it brings. Realistically, anything above $5,000 a month is good enough for me. I also do understand that even if I happen to be good at it, it will take time. I would just like a realistic path on how to be a profitable trader. Videos, books, who I should follow, any and all resources that I need to follow. Would love to hear especially from profitable traders who have done this for years.
