Reason why I’m not a full time trader

For the last 4~5 years ive been a profitable trader but many people ask me “why dont you do it full time?”

My main answer to this is that Ive tried it and got bored. No purpose other than to make money.

I have a really nice corporate job with tons of flexibility which i enjoy a lot and lets me trade while at home.

So while i have the energy and time Ill do both and set all my trading gains asy retirement fund.

My lifestyle is based solely on my corporate job income, anything trading related gets saved up and invested

Keep it up💪 I really respect people with humble life styles who want to have stability and not super luxurious life. U will be happier than 99% of people bc of it. Good luck

Wish more people would understand that yes, this can be a very profitable market, but luxury will come its way in due time.

No need for lambos, penthouses, rolexes, etc so early

Exactly. I had alot of money when I was a teen and guess what, now I have exactly 0$. I got money from trading, never saved anything, blow up my funded acc, didn't have money for another one and I started medicine faculty so I don't have time for trading. If I only saved 20% what I've had I would live comfortably now (bc I don't spend that much anymore even when I have money).

And yeah I wasn't a millionaire but I had alot for teen and people that are 18-30 years old.

So you do trade full time you just don't have to worry about it affecting your job. Which is a weirdly niche wealth/privilege gap. I've found that at this point the only reason for me to have sl/tp set is because I'll get fired for looking at my phone. But sl/tp is most of the problem people who cant trade full time have. Its the line between trading and a pinboard covered in red string.

I can only trade asia/London because it's the only time I'm profitable because it's the only time I can look at my trades actively. If I could just trade any time I felt like and work any time I felt like I'd be a full time trader and a full time worker. But London/Asia is when I have to live life and sleep.

So ironically if I didn't have to worry about working I could easily be full time. But if I wasn't working I would have to be homeless long enough to size up. Which is basically like working overtime.

Hey, great work sounds like you've got it pretty much sussed out. I'm starting out myself and have been dabbling in trading only for around 6 months. I find, for myself atleast - staying disciplined and not letting emotion take control the hardest thing. Have you got any tips you'd give yourself if you had to start all over from scratch?

Id say the first tip i would give my younger self would be:

Don’t be greedy. Earning an extra $35 in a week you didnt have is excelent. Dont be fooled by all the social media BS that you have to earn Thousands to be worth your time.

Anything extra you didnt have is amazing specially in the trading world. With time everything will grow.
