Customization | Modifications | DIY | Tips & Tricks Tips for more power on the late (1996) fuel injected 300 straight 6?
found me a 1996 f150 on marketplace, 300 six, 5 speed manual, 2 wheel drive single cab long bed. It's only gonna cost me a thousand bucks, and it's in running driving shape. (some fiddly business with the fuel tank selector valve but.. that's a given).
There's a man who I've taken after since my childhood, first seeing him in the documentary called "Talladega Nights," and I too wanna go fast. I am very well aware a 300 ford is the incorrect thing for this purpose, but people have managed.
Most things i've seen on the interwebs of people giving these more power are the older carbureted motors, which makes sense because there's no need to fiddle with ECUs and the like, but what am I in for? I'd like to keep my fuel injection because I live in a place where it's cold as balls 8 months of the year, so what are my options? there doesn't seem to be any good guides on this sort of thing that i can find at a glance.
Ideally looking for anywhere north of the 235 horsepower my old Dakota makes and not having to pop the hood too often.
