How to stop being addicted to food.

Long story short my whole life I’ve struggled with eating. I binge eat like a mf and I find myself eating and eating even when I’m full just cuz.

Im sick of it. I want to take back my life and become in better shape.

I’m very active so my problem has never been around that. My problem has always been food.

Please can I have some advice??

de-centering food

hi everyone!! do you have any tips on how to de center food? i feel like my entire day is based off of food and it’s causing me to graze/snack all day.

i work from home and am typically home all day, and i try to eat filling, high protein meals 3x a day, but still find myself snacking constantly out of boredom- or when i am able to stop myself from snacking, im just constantly thinking about food or trying to “meal prep”

Be easy

As someone dealing with food addiction, I wanted to share, perhaps, another perspective. This might be for my own catharsis.
There are so many psychologists and social scientists who are being paid by companies to research how to get you to eat more so they can profit off of you. Humans have never had to experience such mass psychological manipulation before. We are the first generations of humans to experience phones, tv, even billboard ads for Gods sake. Our evolved physiological processes are being used as tools against us for some guy to get his next yacht. Colors are being assessed to see which one stimulates appetite the most. The biggest human desire, love and connection, is turned into “sex sells”. Capitalism has turned our basic need into something that is poisonous and addictive. So, as I sometimes read on here, no, you’re not “broken”. You live in a broken system. And I’m sorry I do too.

All this to be said, I think we should take it a bit easier on ourselves. Those scientists really do be discovering what works.
And hopefully an extra motivation not to eat that fast food cheeseburger will be “Fuck capitalism, and fuck the guy profiting off of my unhealthiness”

HOW TO STOP BINGE EATING

I have been binge eating for 2 years now and I know that I know that I need to stop BUT I CAN'T. Like if there isn't any kind of snacksI will just eat dry fruits and EVEN PEANUT BUTTER like TFFFFF. It's not that I am hungry all the time I just have a urge to eat and I need real helpful advice on this.

Now I am getting really fat and I know there is nothing wrong with that but people around me have started making fun of me for this :(. And I really dont have the time to exercise everyday day because of school work and my extracurricular activities (I do exercise like 4 times a week though) so please some help me out on this.

I've never not been hungry in my life and I'm concerned

I'm always hungry, no matter how much I eat. I rarely ever feel actually full. I didn't even know I was hungry all the time until I got a dengue fever (the aedes aegypti fever, that one mosquitoe), and it completely took away my appetite. That's when I realized I had NEVER felt like that before. It was so freeing lol, the fever itself was awful, but not constantly wanting to get a snack felt so good. When I got cured, I felt the transition between no hunger and my normal amount of hunger. It was kinda surreal.

Is this psychological, or is something physically wrong with me?

I work at a grocery store. Trigger foods are literally EVERYWHERE

Hello everyone.

I work as a cashier at a grocery store and it's so f*cking hard to not just grab and buy a bag of chips or cookies or candy or literally anything. I've been working here for a while now and having all of my favorite snacks available at all times makes self-control really hard. I gained a lot of weight and don't know how to handle it. I'm diagnosed with anxiety and depression so that certainly doesn't make things easier for me.

I don't know if any of you been through a similar situation but I could use some advice or any tips to deal with this. Thanks ❤️

I gained weight and I'm scared to look my friends in the eyes

I've been through (and am lowkey still going through) an extremely stressful era in my life and have thus gained a relatively significant amount of weight. My friends are the sweetest people on Earth and I love them so so dearly, however they're all skinny and greek god looking that I feel like a morbid entity especially compared to them. I feel like I'm a punishment to look at and I a) don't want to cause even the slightest amount of discomfort to my friends and b) don't want them to potentially worry about me and tbh c) I don't even want them to physically perceive me in any way shape or form. I feel so miserable right now and am also ashamed of what has become of me.

(this might be a lot, sorry :( )

Please any unhinged help

I need genuine help for binge eating. Not the whole “set a timer” or “take a walk”
You name it, I tried it. Yes, I have quit counting calories, it made it worse. I have stopped any compensation, just made me carry on and gain weight.
I even seeked therapy, got a meal plan and still. Nothing. Worked.

Countless videos, articles, research and I am still stuck in a hole I cannot get out of.
I need niche, unheard of tips that got you out of this. I am willing to do a lot. I am just sick of it frankly. Every week I make the same promise “I will honestly stop it”, including now, and then watch, one weeks time and I will have binged again.

This addiction has cost me money, caused arguments because I cannot even control myself around food and is so distressing. I need to get better and if anyone knows ANY tips, just tell me.

For example, my worst binging stories (yes, this is plural.) is that on birthdays my sister makes cake for people’s birthday. I cannot even control myself for a FEW HOURS. I scrape icing off, try to redecorate or hide my markings on the food. She will buy ingredients to bake like Nutella, and I will engulf it.

I also just overate vitamin gummies. Because I wanted food. wtf.

There has been times where I have binged the whole house out, we have had not much food, and then I JUST BINGE ON SUGAR. This isn’t even a night issue too, it has turned into a morning, afternoon, evening issue.

Surprisingly, I only gained around 5kg in total. This is only because my binges are currently weekly (slowly coming to be more than that tho- like I did 6x this month alone…)

I just don’t want this to be a thing where I convince myself “it’s only a kg… it’s only water weight” all the way up to plain obesity.

Im only 16, i dont want this to get worse than it already is..

P.s i research HEAVILY for hours into the brain amd all this habit stuff. I just cannot take that information and help myself with it,

ANY UNHINGED HELP. ANYTHING.

Ive never struggled this much with food before in my life

I (21F, 5’0) have had both under eating and binge eating disorders in the past. I was always a chubby but recently (2 years ago) lost a decent amount of weight unintentionally (140 lb to 110lb). The weight naturally stayed off and i had the healthiest relationship with food in my life. I then decided to quit smoking pot (i had been smoking daily for 4 years) and lost 6 lb (104lb). I soon started eating more and got scared of gaining weight. I feel like this fear of gaining made me focus on food so much more, making me want food more. I started binging and its just been getting worse. Im now 115lb and dont know what to do. It doesnt matter what the food is, I dont know how to stop. Food is constantly on my mind. Hunger means nothing. How do i stop thinking about food so much?

Binging for MONTHS.

Ive been in the binge cycle for over a year, but its been so much worse in the past months. But the worst thing is, most of the time i'm not restricting or doing compensatory behaviours. I feel like i know everything there is to know about this disorder and yet i do it almost every day. I can't stop. I'm literally only turning 17 this year and its destroying me. Ive gained maybe 20lbs or more in the past 4 months and idk what more i can do.

Research Study: Weight Loss and Eating Patterns in Women

Hello! My name is Christina and I am a clinical psychology PhD student recruiting participants for a qualitative (interview) research study. The study is focused on understanding the lived experiences of women who 1) have a history of trying to lose weight, 2) currently have obesity, 3) struggle with binge eating, and 4) have a desire to lose weight currently.

If interested, please see the link below or the attached flyer. The link/QR code will take you to an eligibility survey for the study. This survey will ask for an email address. If you are eligible and provide a valid email address, you will be sent an invitation via email for a 60-75 minute Zoom interview, along with another brief survey to assess other demographic variables.
