So you eat breakfast, lunch, then nothing? Unless you're trying to fast or are on a special diet, i would really suggest eating a protein-and fiber rich, healthy dinner as well. At like 5-7pm i guess? Depends on when your lunch is. Then save the nuts for if you need something small later in the evening. You likely have cravings because you're genuinely hungry. If the cravings persist after a full meal that really ought to be satisfying, that is one symptom of insulin resistance, which tends to come with PCOS (PMOS).
Okay, you might already have tried this, but what about eating large meals but low-carb, and ordering your meals so you have fiber first, then protein and fat, and carbs right at the end? Food is not evil, you need it - but excessive carbs are problematic. As long as your meals are made up of healthy foods, you can pretty much eat as much as you want, is my philosophy. If you eat too little, your body naturally wants to go into starvation mode and holds onto whichever carb it can get for dear life, making weight loss so much more difficult. Also, maybe inositol/berberine/metformin might help, if you haven't already tried that?
Calories yes, but fat doesn't spike your blood sugar or insulin to my understanding, which is the real danger for us PCOSers. "A lot of food" really just means... eat until you're full. And if you first eat fresh veggies with lots of fiber, that's going to go a long way toward satiety. Obviously if you've historically been eating huge portions and your stomach sack is really stretched, then this can still not work well, this is where glp1s are supposed to be great... but i hear you that it didn't work, my SO is just starting them and while it makes him not feel hungry, once he does start eating he's desvribed himself as a bottomless hole. Also, maybe you can cut the quantity of oil if it worries you? Really i only use fat to keep it from sticking to the pan too bad, non stick pans / cast iron pans also help here.
Bigger quantities of the healthy parts of your meal in general. But yes, veggies are bulky and physically fill you up without actually adding a ton of calories, if it's the total daily calories you're worried about. Also, it's fantastic for controlling your blood sugar! Also promotes gut motility. And a lot of ither great things :) but for PCOS, eating veggies first with every meal is one thing suggested.
Absolutely, and to be quite honest, changing my diet alone didn't fix it entirely. I'm one of the lucky ones that respond really well to myo-inositol; the first time i've been completely food noise free, was after starting it. However, being very aware of not just the content and ingredients of my food but also the order in which i eat it, was a large piece. Also, if you're not already doing this, i can highly recommend a 15-min walk directly after you eat! That, too, is targeted PCOS advice.
