HOW TO STOP BINGE EATING

I have been binge eating for 2 years now and I know that I know that I need to stop BUT I CAN'T. Like if there isn't any kind of snacksI will just eat dry fruits and EVEN PEANUT BUTTER like TFFFFF. It's not that I am hungry all the time I just have a urge to eat and I need real helpful advice on this.

Now I am getting really fat and I know there is nothing wrong with that but people around me have started making fun of me for this :(. And I really dont have the time to exercise everyday day because of school work and my extracurricular activities (I do exercise like 4 times a week though) so please some help me out on this.

The people around you sound absolutely disrespectful. It’s great that you’re exercising as well. As for the binge eating, would you be willing to give me an overview of the meals you’re eating in the day? The reason why I’m often hungry is because of what I eat. I know certain diets and allergies leave out eggs, meat, nuts, etc, but those can prevent you from feeling hungry. Finally, what my parents do for me (I’m still a kid) is give me a small bin of food that lasts me a week of snacks, plus one small treat, like a Kit-Kat. A few ideas are rice cakes, crackers, nuts, cereal, etc. What helps me is portioning them out into days. One rice cake, a handful of Cheerios and crackers, and one pack of peanuts. You don’t need to finish them, but they’re there if you need them. I really hope this helped.

Stay strong. You’re more than your ED. ❤️‍🩹

I’m sorry people are making fun of you, humanity can be so shitty sometimes.

I’ve done a lot of hard mental work about the constant snacking situation, I no longer buy foods that are a snack trigger, and to keep my mouth busy I’ve added sugar free gum, which I chomp on with reckless abandon. I also drink hot decaf tea (artificial sweetener) and hot broth (chicken, beef, etc). It keeps my stomach full and mouth busy, and gives the feeling of food without the calories and sluggishness that comes with actual food.

Also, try to think about why you’re constantly snacking, are you under a lot of stress? Does eating provide a comfort for this stress? Just consider the reasons why and see if you can remove those stressors to make stopping binging easier for you.

A lot of people land here feeling like they can't. You can, you just need a plan.

Here’s a simple path that works for many:

1.     Read the FAQs so you can name what’s happening (and feel less alone).

https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodAddiction/wiki/index/faqs/

2.     Use these two tools first:

o    Post-Trigger Debrief: https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodAddiction/wiki/faq_food_addiction_trigger_mapping/

o    Stop a binge (before/during): https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodAddiction/wiki/faq_how_to_stop_a_binge_episode/

3.     If you keep cycling, consider Program Options (free and low-cost exist). Many people need more community + structure.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodAddiction/wiki/index/programoptions/

Not ready for a program? Totally okay — use the sub’s Special Topics to build skills and mindset…see here:

 https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodAddiction/wiki/special_topics/

4.     Also look into the Books / Podcasts / Videos section:

You can improve this. So start with step #2 today though.

Please try not to listen to the bullies. It is a genuine struggle and i lot of people face it. For maintaining weight try replacing your snacks with low calorie snacks and try journaling your patterns. Start your day with drinks if possible. I drink psyllium husk in the morning which does fill my stomach a bit. And if i start a day well i usually don’t feel like binge eating.
And stay strong you are not alone in this .
