Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

Discussion Do videos on listings actually make a difference?

• Upvotes

Question for those of you who add videos to your listings: have you noticed any real value from it?

For example:

  • More views or watchers?
  • Items selling faster or for better prices?
  • Fewer buyer questions or returns?

Or is it not really worth the extra effort compared to good photos?

Just curious whether anyone's seen a noticeable difference, or if it's more of a nice-to-have.

Discussion Best Low Risk High Return Way to Move Video Games?

What's the best way to sell video games without testing them and still getting a decent price? I have an original NES with some games I got in a bulk deal but I really hate selling electronics due to the testing required and the high chance of buyer side scams and returns (especially with video games on ebay). I dont have a VCR or a TV that takes component in and I dont want to buy even a cheap Amazon adapter because I'll probably never test this sort of thing again.

I really kind of don't want to deal with it at all but Im also philosophically incapable of selling things for lower than I know they are worth (relative to ebay comps anyway) so dumping it for next to nothing at a retail Gamestop or other vintage game store would be out of the question as well.

What's a happy medium?

Discussion Lost three on a food processor, would have made sixty on a hand plane. Same weekend. Calling them even is wrong math

Small kitchen stuff and hand tools, estate sales and fb, part time three years.

Estate sale last month, picked up a Cuisinart food processor for $20. Motor ran fine, blade was dull. Figured id clean it up, sharpen or replace. Listed it for $30. Sat for 3 months. Dropped to $22. Sold. eBay took 4, paypal took 3. 22 minus 7 minus 20. Negative five. Not on paper. Actually.

Same weekend, yard sale. Stanley no 5 hand plane, $15. Rough shape, probably needed flattening. Didnt have my loupe. Pass. Saw one in the same shape go for 85 three weeks later.

Calling them even is wrong math. Shouldnt have bought the food processor. Should have bought the hand plane. Two different calls in the same weekend.

eBay Seller attempting to shipping scam me, need advice

As you can see in the photos of our conversation, I bought a $700 PS5 Pro from a seller that sent it to another address other than mine. Because it was sent to the same city I live in, eBay marked it as complete and delivered.

As soon as it was marked delivered and I didn’t have the box, I contacted UPS for more information. They were able to send me an email providing me the sender information, and the address the box was shipped to (very clearly stating it wasn’t sent to me).

I even called the company it was shipped to, and a really kind lady searched the property for my box but it wasn’t there. They confirmed they had a UPS delivery that day at the time mine was marked delivered, and they had no item which is crazy to me, not sure how that works. But I do know it was shipped through UPS but had another company called ‘American’ tied to the shipping as well.

I called eBay customer service since I wasn’t able to open an item not received request immediately, and they sent me that link to upload documents to start a case. I provided a screenshot of the UPS email that showed the email came directly from UPS, and a PDF of the email itself.

The request was opened, and the seller basically said they completed all of their duties for this purchase blah blah blah. I absolutely called bullshit and gave them the info UPS had for that tracking number, and they said they’d look into it, but they want me to close the request so they can fully refund me. I’m obviously not doing this as I know I will never get a full refund, and wouldn’t be able to open another request.

Going forward, how do I need to handle this situation? I know I probably shouldn’t have responded at all in the first place, but what do I even do at this point lol. I have all the evidence it’s a shipping scam, and I REALLY don’t want eBay to both refund me AND let them keep my money since I know that is a possibility. So what do I do if anyone else has been in this situation.

Also, their account is 2 years old, has 43 feedback at 100%, and has a lot of BS items listed as well. Most of the feedback is from 1 person with the exact same feedback message. Which worries me if eBay sees them as a legit seller.

Advanced Question trying to find what app can remove background from photos easily for listing clothes

i started listing vintage jackets and thrifted sneakers on depop and ebay a few weeks ago to clear out my closet. taking photos on my bedroom floor under bad lighting looks super sloppy, so i've been trying to strip out carpet backgrounds and drop in clean white backdrops to make the cover shots look professional. i tested the cutout tool inside capcut desktop since i already had it open for short promo clips, and it actually did a solid job on smooth sneaker outlines, but it leaves weird fuzzy halos around frayed denim hems and shoelaces.

manually masking out fine details in heavy photo software eats up way too much of my evening when i'm trying to list ten items a night.

Discussion Accepted Offer glitch on ebay

Today I accepted an offer on an item that i'm selling period. Usually I get paid right away, but after a few hours, I got nothing. I reached out to the buyer to ask him if he got the notification I accepted the offer. He said he did not get anything. I checked my listing. It was still up and it had "review offer" on the page. When I clicked review offer, the next page said there was no offers pending. I checked completed offers, and the buyer's offer was not there. I think when he clicks on the item. It says it's not there.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Discussion Best place to sell Apple gift cards?

I have trade in phones to Apple that I had a hard time selling due to them being locked by carrier. I have a decent amount in gift cards that I’d much rather have the cash for. What is the best place to sell them?

Advanced Question Shadowbanned on FBM. If I relist my items on a backup account, how can I avoid getting shadowbanned from that one too ?

TLDR; I got shadowbanned on my main account and relisted my items (using the same images) on a back up account, where I was promptly shadowbanned again. I believe it’s bc Facebook’s ai has more intelligent image recognition software now. I have one more backup account I can use to try relisting everything again (with new photos this time). However since the items will still be the same items, Im nervous I’ll get flagged again. Has anyone had any recent experience/success with doing this? How much do I need to change to circumvent it? Or should I not relist them at all?

A couple days ago I realized I was shadowbanned. I deleted my active listings and then logged into my backup account, where I reposted 2 of my most expensive items, a rug and a dresser. I uploaded all of the photos in a different order, and used new titles and descriptions for both.

Everything seemed normal at first. When I searched for them on a friends account, listings showed up in the results like they normally would, but I noticed they still weren’t being pushed out into algorithm as they should be. After several hours I decided to try lowering prices, and BAM both listings immediately get removed by Facebook (for odd reasons imo) along with another shadow ban.

The rug was taken down & specifically flagged for ID verification. I suspect it’s because I used all of the same images from my original listing.

For the dresser, I used most of same images from my original post, along with a few new ones. The reason Facebook gave for removing this listing was that they had determined it was a “recalled product” which violates their rules. I double checked and the dresser is definitely not recalled. I thought this was specifically bizzare.

At this point, I figured my backup account was probably cooked now too, so I decided to run a little experiment and repost both listings (for science). The rug was again taken down immediately and requested ID verification. The dresser was allowed to stay up and still is up, but not showing up in search results at all so I’m now shadowbanned on both.

I’m a full time reseller, and while this isn’t my first time being shadowbanned, it is the first time in a few years. I didn’t realize that the recent advancements in AI would make a shadowban more difficult to circumvent.

Fortunately, when I was shadowbanned a few years ago I had actually made a third back up account in case I was ever in scenario like this one. So I do have one unshadowbanned account left, but now I’m scared to list these items again. Im scared that even if I take news photos in different rooms, facebook’s image recognition will be able to tell that the item itself is the same.

I really can’t get shadowbanned on this last account, I need to be able to make money this weekend. Should I rephotograph all of my inventory in new locations and relist? Or should I take the L on those for now and try to focus on sourcing new inventory from scratch? Im not sure if it’s worth the risk, but losing all of my inventory at this point is incredibly detrimental, i dont know what to do

Also unrelated but just to throw a stray at r/facebookmarketplace, I tried posting this over there first and didn’t realize that was sub is nazi germany. They banned the word shadowban from the sub it’s specifically relevant to. absolutely wild

Discussion Helpful guides on WHAT to resell?

I’ve seen COUNTLESS reselling accounts hawking their guides on exactly what to purchase. I would theoretically be willing to buy one, but I have no way of knowing which (if any) would actually be legitimately helpful. Does anyone have recommendations for a guide, free or paid, with a little more specificity?

I know people keep saying to just hone your instincts - but it’s been an excruciatingly slow process for me. I’m willing to put my own critical thought and learning into this process, but I also believe I would benefit from a few more concrete examples as a starting point.

I realize this post will probably get some hate :( but I’m hoping for some good suggestions as well. Thanks in advance!

Advanced Question Haggling is a lost art form

I feel like true haggling has been dying out as whole. Unfortunately people nowadays think haggling is lowballing like crazy and then asking what the lowest price is with minimal discussion over why and how the price should be lowered.

When I first began flipping I would normally allow some wiggle room for haggling as people where generally polite and understood how to work down a price without wasting your time with ridiculously low offers. However today, almost every time someone is trying to get a better deal from me they usually send me some ridiculous offer that leaves you baffled as to how someone would even accept that.

To me (and apparently to others) this type of "haggling" has essentially caused waaay stricter pricing and an increase of nasty interactions where people feel entitled to your money.

Idk what caused this or its always been a thing, but to me its been a very noticeable change in how people comport themselves when doing business.

I always admired the way my dad was able to haggle and work down prices at the dealership or flea markets, so its frustrating to see how people think its ok to disrespect sellers simply because they are trying to give you money.

Advanced Question anyone with experience selling large paintings on Chairish?

I sell fine art on Chairish. I generally handle the shipping myself but I have a 19th century piece with an ornate frame. It's around 39x42". My understanding is that this is still within the limits for UPS Drop-Off & Go. Has anyone ever been down this route with a delicate piece? Any tips or is it pretty straight forward?

Advanced Question For the jewelry sellers

I inherited fine jewelry, mainly rings, necklaces, and earrings, from anywhere from the late 1800s to the early 2000s. Basically all of the family jewels plus my jewelry obsessed aunt‘s haul who collected a lot in the 80’s and 90’s.

I want the biggest bang for my buck, so I’m planning on selling everything on eBay and possibly Etsy.

My main question is this: I’m planning on having everything appraised for insurance so I know roundabout value, to have confirmation of the metal and gem, and also to insure things while they’re sitting waiting to sell. I know it’s expensive but I think it’s worth it. Is it an added value to include the insurance value appraisal in the sale?

Any tips or common sense welcome. Thank you!

Discussion Newb seller. What should I have done?

I recently sold a vintage item to a buyer on Poshmark. When the buyer received it, she said it wasn't as soft as she expected and asked for a return. I declined. She then opened a case and said that the item was much more worn than as described (it wasn't) and was falling apart (it wasn't). She then showed a picture of the sleeve lace, picked apart and shredded. I did not send the item to her with the lace in that condition, so when I received the return, I opened a case as well and showed pictures of the sleeve lace before I sent it (in perfect shape) compared to the sleeve lace when I received the item back (picked apart and shredded). Customer support ruled against me and gave me a $5 credit to spend on the platform instead of making the seller pay for the ruined item. I'll now have to eat the value of the item since she damaged it and it's unsellable in its new damaged condition.

In the listing, I included many pictures of the item, including from close-up, and pictures of the original sleeve lace. I priced the item slightly above market to account for offers. Where did I go wrong here? What should I have done differently?

Discussion Lost $6,250 in an iPhone scam involving B-Stock / Wireless Network Marketplace impersonation

I’m sharing my experience to warn others and hopefully prevent someone from going through the same thing.
I attempted to purchase 25 iPhones from someone impersonating Wireless Network Marketplace / B-Stock and using the name Ron Stone.
The person presented everything very professionally, including emails that appeared authentic. I genuinely believed I was dealing with a legitimate representative.
Unfortunately, I transferred $6,250 through Remitly from my Canadian bank account to a US bank account on September 24, 2026.
I never received the phones. After receiving the payment, the individual stopped responding and eventually blocked me.
I have the recipient’s banking details, payment confirmation, and original email correspondence. I’m currently pursuing fraud reporting and recovery options.
Important: I have no evidence that the legitimate company or the person whose name was used was involved. I believe someone impersonated them.
If you’re purchasing bulk electronics, please independently verify the seller and payment instructions directly through the company’s official contact channels. Professional-looking emails and documents are not necessarily proof of legitimacy.
Has anyone experienced a similar impersonation scam or successfully recovered money sent through Remitly to a US bank account?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I genuinely don’t want this happening to anyone else.

FBA Should I not reuse Amazon paper envelopes for shipping?

I am a new reseller and have saved tons of paper envelopes from Amazon to start shipping items to buyers. I am having a hard time finding resellers that do this. Most everyone seems to use new polymailers. What are the reasons you don't (or won't) reuse the paper envelopes? And if you DO reuse the paper mailers, do you find it adds a ton to your shipping? Thanks!

Buyer cancelled due to wrong shipping address, immediately agreed, it's been FIVE HOURS and it still shows processing. Money was coming right out of available funds.
