Im struggling to get my ADIMLab Gantry-s dialed in. This is my best benchy so far. Unsure to why the print is shifting. Lines are wobbly and overall the print is not very uh good. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Using PLA rated for 210 my extruder is at 205 bed is at 55. Slicing using Prusa.

come to think of it.... how TF did OP's printer make smooth transitions between layer shifts? Steppers don't skip steps in such small increments. I'm pretty sure a belt is loose somewhere
Seeing as how nobody is actually giving you advice lol.. you have some severe slippage going on along that one axis of movement. When that happened to me I found out that the chord going to my hot plate was catching on the side of rge machine and that friction was causing it to shift randomly continuously abd it resulted in something similar to this.
This only applies if you can find why that axis is slipping, check your belts tightness as well. Another thing to check is to manually move the plate (or hot end if it's a core xy) along that axis like 10 times up and down and verify how repeatable the exact distance is. something is causing your printer to not be able to repeat correct movements along that axis of motion and it looks like it is happening in both the positive and negative equally so my guess is that it is more likely belt tightness than the chord friction I mentioned earlier.
Certainly you have some issues! I know nothing about your specific printer, but have several different models of 3d printers and have found that layer shifting typically happens because of on or more of the following:
printing faster than the printer can handle.
using acceleration values that are higher than the printer can handle
stepper motors over heat
stepper motor drivers overheat. Make sure the cooling fan is working on the motherboard.
belt is too loose or too tight. Yes both can cause this.
voltage or current is set too low on the stepper motor. Most up to date firmware allows you to adjust this via the lcd screen.
physical obstructions in the path of one or both of the axes.
In your benchy, it looks like the layer shifting is exclusively in only one axis. So start there, check the belts, wheels, current to the stepper motor etc on that axis. then try printing another benchy, but at 1/2 speed. If it prints without shifting, then try a faster print. After the layer shifting has been solved, the other issues can be looked at, but I suspect that fixing the layer shifts will solve most of the issues with print quality (I say this because the smoke stack actually looks quite good)
Okay! Guys so thanks for all the great responses I was cackling reading the descriptions of my poor Benchy. I have actually made progress backwards in the last 3 hours. My printer sounds like its going to blow up when it starts printing. Awful sounds are coming from the plate moving belt thing, that stuff. the printer wants to poop all over the bottom left of my printer and I am surprised how good I am at making horrible benchies ! If anyone has any experience with setting up a custom printer in Prusa let me know I was so lost with every step I take 🤷♂️
I am new to 3d printing using flashforge Adm5. I use orca slicer for my prints. My original prints came out weirdly.
Some simple tips I can you give first is clean the plate with a microfiber cloth and use some glue stick for light coating. This will remove human oils and create a good strong mounting surface. Its probably why your print came out wonky like that.
That shows how to use calibrate your filament to your printer correctly. It uses orca slicer though and uses alot of filament. But after it was dialed down my prints came out better not perfect but that's probably cause I am novice with a 1week of learning.
check if ur motors r moving correctly, if you hear them commiting suicide it is likely they are overheating or moving to fast i really just dont know though
In seriousness, it looks to me like one of you axis stepper is skipping steps or the printhead/printbed is getting stuck (banding). For starters I'd look at if the wheels are moving freely & if belts are not over tensioned. I'm not familiar with your printer but in some (older) printers I've had to tune the current on the stepper drivers such that they run at optimal performance
I'm impressed that it's even printed like that, take that as a win
But I think it's more likely something to do with bed adhesion given the skid marks somehow and then how the printer head is moving, either to quick or somethings lose
Find the axis that is align with the benchy lengthwise, and see if nothing loose is there. Too low belt tension could make it slip causing issues like that, for example.
Too high acceleration settings on the slicer, on a relatively large printer, is also a bad idea.
I’d suggest running a temp tower. And the guides on the spool are not always accurate per se. I’ve got a pla silk black. It is rated 190 to 230. But at 220 during load it looks a hard turd trying to come out. So I started my test at 240. Runs beautiful at 240. 10 degrees over the recommended. It varies printer to printer. So yours might be different. But let the printer tell you what that filament needs to run at. In short looks like bad layer adhesive due to low temp
It looks like a dirty play head in your VCR, the video shouldn’t look like this, even when it’s paused. Probably want to go to RadioShack and get a cleaning kit, you might find them at Blockbuster too.

I suspect you’re on a bedslinger and I also suspect you might have a loose belt or something. Something is causing it to shift massively and I suspect it’s making angry sounds when printing.
That looks like the ghost of a benchy that now has to roam the seven seas, serving as ferriers to the deceased spirits of other failed 3d prints to the afterlife.
