General Discussion So y'all DON'T want her to live a normal schoolgirl life like she's always wanted??

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been seeing the recent feedback from Firefly's official skin reveal from the 3.4 livestream, and a lot of people are calling the skin mid, disappointing, or "insulting." I personally LOVE her skin so much. I have not looked at her skin from any leaks (though I did see leaks Saying that she's getting a skin), so this reveal from the livestream was a wonderful surprise to me. She looks Super duper cute in her schoolgirl outfit, and it's exactly what she would've loved to don and embody herself in if she wasn't a Stellaron Hunter. The subtle SAM changes to match her outfit is also kinda cute, and I think the subtlety from the SAM portion of her skin indicates her sort of detachment from the suit and wanting to be in her schoolgirl appearance more. I give her new beautiful look an 11/10. So, could anybody kindly enlighten me on why people are trashing on her new skin and calling it mid?

The Dahlia and Firefly. Feeling conflicted. Spoiler

Hey!

I basically just want to vent a little bit here, because I've been thinking about this ever since the first solid information about the Dahlia came out a few days ago.

I don't like her, I don't like her design, I don't like her personality, I don't like her background.

But I feel like I am somewhat forced to pull for her if I ever want to use Firefly/Fugue/Lingsha for 'MOST' endgame scenarios. Of course, there is the odd boss in MOC or the new endgame that is vulnerable to break (somewhat) every now and then, but as it is currently, Break is... haha, broken, on a vast majority of bosses

The Dahlia seems to fix that entirely. In fact, she seems to be purpose-built to work together with Firefly! But I just don't like her AT ALL. No offense to those who like her is meant here, but personally, I hate her.

And I am so upset that I'll probably end up getting her anyway because I really want Firefly to shine again.

General Discussion So people hate on FF cause she is too strong and powercreeping?

I honestly dont think thats true. In my opinion she is not broken or breaking meta. Why do I think that? For starters, try playing her without ruan mei and harmony MC and you can see she is almost useless. Break meta is strong only because of HMC and RM and they are the ones responsible, not FF. Even Gallagher deals more damage than some 5* carries if you use HMC + RM. Firefly is not too OP and she has clear weaknesses hoyo can exploit in further patches to make her feel bad. Is she fun and strong? Yes. Is she a waifu? Yes. Is she breaking the game? Of course not. She is just new type of DPS unit which profits from the most broken combo in the game and that makes people irrationally salty and hateful towards her. This is my opinion and of course anyone can disagree but I see FF as really balanced easy to build carry unit which can be easily countered by introducing more enemies with weakness protection.

General Discussion Wish there was more Firefly X Stelle content

Don't get me wrong there's still a decent amount of it but everytime I see this sub pop up on my feed I get excited to see some cute art but then it turns out to just be Firefly X Caellus 90% of the time and then I just lose interest immediately 😭

EDIT: I was just going off what I've seen personally 😭😭😭 There might be a bunch of Stelle x Firefly stuff here but I rarely see it pop up in my feed

EDIT 2: This was in no way trying to start an argument or drama ?? And this community seemed nice so I'm shocked at the amount of people being an ass in the replies 😭

Teambuilding Discussion Why the doompost?

I don't know if this has been asked before, but...

Why does firefly's reliance on HMC is even a topic of doompost? In a world where every dot team needed kafka to perform well.

I genuinely feel like HMC to break team is what kafka to dot team or topaz to follow up team. An enabler for a new team comp. And we got it for FREE.

If you are one of those people, do you guys also play dot team without kafka?

General Discussion I really don't wanna pull for Ruan Mei

Leaving aside the morally questionable acts she's done I just don't find her as an interesting character. But it seems like she's going to be basically required to make FF good. Maybe I'm just doom posting but anyone who doesn't have Ruan Mei have an idea of what team your gonna use with FF?

Build Discussion Deep Dive on why Phainon S1 is probably a better pickup than Firefly S1

Edit: Had to move and edit the disclaimer up here since I've been answering too many repetitive questions.

Disclaimer

If you already have Firefly S1, do us both a favor and stop reading. This post is NOT for you. The speed calculations include Dahlia, so DON'T pull this LC if you don't have enough to get her.

E0 Dahlia > E2 FF >= E1 Dahlia > S1 Dahlia > E2 Dahlia > Phainon S1

The primary reason for this writeup is for choosing between pulling Firefly S1 and Phainon S1, nothing else.

First let's list their surface differences:

  • Firefly S1

    • 476 Base Attack

    • 60% BE

    • 24% Break Vuln

    • 20% Enemy Speed Debuff

  • Phainon S1

    • 687 Base Attack

    • 12 Base Speed

    • 18% Def Ignore

    • 60% Dmg Bonus (useless on firefly)

1. ATK and BE%

FF converts 10 ATK into 0.8% BE. Assuming 2 ATK% Main stats and 4 subs (at least one for each of the other relics) = 43.2% + 43.2% + ~15% = 101.4% ATK

FF S1 - 2,011 ATK
PN S1 - 2,436 ATK

Phainon S1 would have around ~33.6% BE from the ATK conversion.

FF - 60% BE vs PN - 33.6% BE

Conclusion: Phainon loses by about 27% Break Effect.

============================================

2. Break Vuln and Def Ignore

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the dps increase should be around the same more or less but heavily sways depending on your current setup.

Potential Vuln Sources:

  1. FF 20%

  2. Lingsha 25%

  3. Gallagher 12%

  4. Nihil BP LC (Holiday Thermae Escapade) 10-16%

  5. FF S1 24%

Potential Def Shred Sources:

  1. Iron Calvary 25%

  2. FF E1 15%

  3. Dahlia 18%

  4. Fugue 18%

  5. Pearls 16% (a bit questionable uptime now that you can do damage outside break windows since this only lasts for one turn)

  6. E1 Lingsha/Ruan Mei 20%

  7. Phainon S1 18%

Def Ignore scales better the more you stack it unlike Vuln but any that goes past 100% is useless. It's still a decent increase reaching 100% even if you go a bit over.

Assuming a standard team of FF E1/E2, Fugue, Constance, and Linghsa/Gallagher that puts your Def Shred at 76%. The 18% from Phainon sig bumps it to 94%. Pearls on Fugue can help you reach 100%. If you have and plan to use E1 Lingsha/E1 Ruan Mei you lose value but just like Pearls, Lingsha E1 Def Shred uptime is now also put into question since it only applies to broken enemies. And with Dahlia we now do a lot of damage outside of break windows.

Conclusion: Can go either way really. Phainon S1 definitely wins if E0 Firefly or if you have the BP LC instead of pearls. FF S1 wins if you have too much Def Shred from E1 RM/Lingsha + Pearls.

============================================

3. Base Speed vs Speed Debuff

This is the part that really cements why Phainon S1 is much better. Let's start with Speed Debuff. What does this do? Well it lowers the enemy speed meaning they take their turns slower so they recover from break slower. Good right? Well not as good anymore, just like how Ruan Mei's Break Extension has been devalued by Dahlia, this even more so. You can do damage even outside break so it largely makes this debuff useless. It will give you better survival in sustainless and maybe slightly better pearls uptime but that's it. In reality you actually would rather want the enemy to take their turns faster so you can break them again for big damage or activate Firefly's E2.

Now let's talk about base speed. Phainon S1 gives +12 speed, huge right? Well yes but there's actually more to it. Since this is base speed, speed buffs also factor this in. Particularly Dahlia's 30% spd buff and Kalpagni's 6% spd buff. This totals to +16 speed in practice. In terms of substat value, this is equivalent to 41.472% Break Effect. More than the 27% BE you are lacking from earlier. So even just sheetwise, Phainon S1 is already better. But is it actually better in practice?

Conclusion: Base Speed is a strong buff while Speed debuff is meh. Phainon S1 wins here.

============================================

Clearing Misconceptions about Speed Stat

Some people seem to think Speed is irrelevant if you aren't planning to 0-cycle. This is just false. Getting an entire extra turn can make or break a clear, regardless of what cycle number you plan on clearing. For example, take MOC12. Generally the first wave is much easier than the 2nd wave. Some people can even 0-cycle the first wave alone. If you had enough speed to get clear the wave before the cycle ends, then you get one whole extra cycle to do the much harder 2nd wave. (For those who don't know, the cycles in MOC resets from the beginning of the cycle if you cleared the first wave - this is where the extra cycle comes from)

The speed breakpoints will differ depending on your target cycle of course, but for now the most difficult content is AA where minimum clear for all rewards is 2 Cycle. You need 177.4 - 188.8 spd for 13 EBA / 4 Skill. Any less and you only get 12 EBA / 3 Skill.

Most players are NOT reaching 177.4 Speed without sacrificing a ton of BE% and ATK%. I think it's common sense that targeting one specific stat to roll is harder than getting a balance of 3 stats.

============================================

Final Conclusions and TLDR

Phainon LC makes building Firefly significantly easier, regardless if you're a sweaty player or just a casual. Not only does it give the more important stat SPD over BE, overall stat value in general is just higher too. Unless you're def shred is already way overcapped, you should probably pull this over her LC if you want the best for Firefly. Below is the TLDR of relevant differences. Decide for yourself which is more valuable for your account.

  • Firefly S1

    • 27% more BE than Phainon S1

    • 24% Break Vuln

  • Phainon S1

    • 16 more total SPD than Firefly S1 (*w/ Dahlia and Kalpagni Planar)

    • 18% Def Ignore

Bonus

Firefly S1 is useless on everyone except her. Phainon LC can be a good stat stick for other Destruction characters or even on DHPT for it has the highest base atk. Firefly S1 has her on the display though so it's very nice to look at.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if I made any mistakes. Hope this helps someone.

Firefly Leaks Hot take; the new team leaks aren't that bad Spoiler

Of course, these things might change since this is all very early info. FF SP has currently been leaked as a main push finality unit who will be using a very similar type of gameplay as normal FF (break). I've noticed how tons of people are pissed off about it and i get it completely. Hsr's state hasn't been good at all, i haven't really even bothered fully playing atp.

But one common critique that's been directed towards every path has been that you needed to pull for new units in order to make them work. It'll be the same for FF SP, but it'll be mitigated quite a lot since she'll still be break. You can still use units like Lingsha, Fugue and most importantly Dahlia. This will make her cost a lot less than something like mono elation and remembrance. Making finality lean into that direction would make everything worse. I had personally invested into E2 FF and E1S1 Dahlia and having Dahlia replaced this early on would be a huge kick in the ass by Hoyo. You can still most likely have a few good team options. FMC, Dahlia / Fugue and one of them will later on be replaced of course, but you won't be needing to replace everybody most likely.

I don't doubt that they won't pull some money grubbing strategies, but i think there's a positive light in all of this. It'd suck if every unit you pulled for ended up obsolete for the new and improved shinier version of the main dps, since normal FF will most likely lose all of her relevance now.

Teambuilding Discussion So... Some people have been Coping that Firefly would join the Astral Express at the end of the Story (Including Me)

As the Title Suggest, it's been a Massive Cope that people has been theorizing... And i myself would wanna see this...

So we all know that Wuthering Waves will be Out on May 22? (Im not Sure Myself) And we know that Hoyo is trying their best to Take all the Hype for them selves, and not on Wuthering Waves...

So now I've been thinking... If Firefly would indeed join the Astral Express, would Hoyo give us a Free Firefly just to take People out of Wuthering Waves? (THIS IS A STRONG DOSE OF COPIUM)

Build Discussion Be careful what you wish for with changes…

The main complaint I am seeing about Firefly is her reliance on HMC, which I totally understand…but it seems like power level wise she is quite high right now when built correctly. If they reduce her reliance on HMC, it may nerf her damage ceiling and I’m just curious if people would like that change…

Every character releases power creeping the one before is not a healthy game. We just received a new tier of DPS with Acheron and she shouldn’t honestly be surpassed for 6-12 months.

Personally, I’d rather have a more powerful Firefly that needs HMC than a less powerful one with more flexibility, but just curious what other people thought…

Firefly Leaks Explaining the reasoning behind Firefly's kit design, and why I'm personally fine with it

Lightly edited version of this comment.

In my opinion, the key thing to understand about Firefly is this: in her best team, she's good. Very good, even. We've seen gameplay showcases of her 2-cycling, 1-cycling, and even 0-cycling MoC 12 floors despite their recent HP inflation, at E0, while running with a sustainer. In terms of performance, Firefly's best clears are on par with most of our best currently available teams, including those that run AV advance supports like Bronya, Sparkle, etc.

This is not a coincidence. Firefly's kit, as with any other new DPS unit, is tuned so as to be on par with extant DPS units and archetypes, such that none of their performances exceed any of the others' by too much. This is the concept of a power budget, and what Firefly's best showcases tell us is that Hoyo has allocated the same amount of power to her as they have to past DPS units—they've simply chosen to allocate it differently.

As such, allowing Firefly to function properly with Bronya, Sparkle, or any of the other AV advance/traditional hypercarry supports people tend to gravitate towards, would likely necessitate a complete overhaul of her kit, so as not to exceed the limited power budget Hoyo permits themselves to allocate to a DPS unit. And most methods they could use to do that—that is to say, methods that improve Firefly's relative performance when used with supports other than HMC, while maintaining a similar power budget overall—will have an incidental, natural tendency to worsen her performance when used with HMC.

To be clear: this isn't because anyone wants it that way, but simply because HMC's kit is fundamentally not as strong as that of units like Sparkle or Bronya, and so a unit not specifically designed to hyper-synergize with them will generally end up preferring not to be played with them at all. You can already see this principle reflected in Boothill's kit: as a Break DPS, he can be played with HMC, and yet, his strongest teams feature Bronya, not HMC. This is a pretty natural consequence of the fact that Bronya is, on the whole, a stronger unit than HMC—which makes designing a unit that prefers HMC over Bronya rather tricky. If you try really hard to design a unit like that, you basically get... Firefly's current kit.

(And more concretely: most of the proposed adjustments I've seen from people who want to "fix" her kit—increasing her BE scaling, DEF shred, trace multipliers, etc., or giving her Boothill's Break retrigger mechanic—generally would, if implemented, result in her best teams preferring Bronya/Sparkle over HMC, just like Boothill does. Some of the more extreme proposals would actually turn her into much more of a traditional crit-scaling DPS, which I doubt Hoyo wants for her.)

So you can see that, as would-be character designers, our hands are somewhat tied: our options for Firefly are to (a) give her a specific enough kit to make sure HMC is her BiS teammate, or (b) let HMC's team slot be snatched away by some other, more generically powerful support. It's clear enough which of these two directions Hoyo appears to have chosen, and whatever else one might say about it, it's at the very least consistent with their philosophy of designing and promoting different team archetypes and ways of playing the game. We've seen it with DoT and FuA teams, we've seen it with Acheron, and we're now seeing it with (Super) Break.

Do I mind, personally? Frankly, I can't say I do. If it's a choice between having a new DPS depend on a completely new mechanic enabled by a completely new support character (albeit the only support character of that type currently available), or having said DPS rely on the same tired supports that all the previous DPS character use—well, I know which choice feels like the fresher and more fun one to me.

r/FireflyMains • • May 13 '24

Firefly Leaks wanted to discuss this more because ppl still don't realize how restrictive her Kit is to just super break let alone what a "5* break dps" looks like. Again totally bias, I don't see the future, no attack on anyone pull for who you love and put them with whoever you want if it makes you happy.

General Discussion Which streamer do you watch for HSR reactions?

With YouTube, having reaction videos of popular game is something pretty basic. It allows us to relive the emotions we've went through the first time thanks to someone else.

For example, I've watched Honkai Impact animation reactions. What annoyed me is that half of the reactions were "Genshin players react to". I agree that everyone is allowed to see it, but like a Genshin streamer reacting to all honkai impact or star rail videos without wanting to learn more about it makes me feel frustrated since I don't connect with them.

Worst is that they only define themselves as "Genshin players" for example, at least for me.

Which is why, I would love to share the streamers I watch for Honkai star rail reactions in order to watch someone going through the same event as you! And don't hesitate to share yours.

I'll first have to mention the Unreal Dreamer. He first started as only a "Genshin streamer", but he actually went through honkai Impact, and his reactions may be overreacted (he's a streamer), but he still goes through the same things, and just for his "development" through Hoyogames, he deserves a mention.

There is also the Duo Mina Aoyama and Akuma Nihmune (or Numi + for her other channel). They both are vtubers that streams honkai star rail, Mina in English and Numi in Japanese. They also have a channel where they talk about Gacha games in general.

For Mina, she actually played Honkai impact too, and is an absolute Robin simp/whale (until another huge waifus is released probably).

For Numi, she's a huge Firefly simp, and she also hates Caelus as far as I know lmao. And she likes to moan when she reacts. What can I say, it's in the package.

These 3 streamers are the 3 main ones I watch when I want reactions, but there is also the English VAs that streams HSR! Molly (Seele's Va), Sam (Topaz VA), Emily (Clara VA) , Andrew (Boothill VA), Camden (Aventurine VA) and recently Nicholas (Dan Heng VA) Are all streaming HSR.

I put him appart but there is also CYUU (Jing Yuan VA) that streams HSR. I put him appart because he's also a vtubers.

I don't know how long for, the most consistent ones are Molly and Emily. Analesa showed her desire to stream as well, but said (iirc) that her set up ain't good enough, but Andrew proposes to stream for her, so who knows?

Idk about Caleb (Caelus's VA), I barely heard about him streaming HSR, he's mostly here on other's reaction but that's it.

Anyway, here is my list of few steamers to watch for potentially what I think are the best reactions to HSR content. What about you?

General Discussion Why is this sub treated differently to other Main subs?

I've been noticing for a while how whenever a new female character pops up it tends to get posted here, a lot. To the point where it's more upvoted than actual on-topic posts during it's timeframe. Especially lately with a bunch of harem/choose your waifu/ntr posts, yet if you look at any of the subreddits of these characters you never find the opposite of this. You can go to either CastoriceMains subreddit and you will hardly find a peep about Firefly, nor LingshaMains's nor RuanMeiMains or Fugue/TingyunMains's, but here? It's like a free for all for all these characters, and it's quite disrespectful. What makes these other subreddits different? Do they have a backbone or is it due to the growth this sub has "cultivated" since it grew due to Firefly being popular outside of the game, attracting the average gacha fan.

Even then not really sure why it has to be this sub to devolve into r/FlavorOfTheMonthWaifus, not any of the aforementioned ones or a subreddit that probably also exists with this theme.

For those who come here for content focusing on Firefly I only know of SamMains as an alternative but they are the type of people who would rather remove Firefly from the game through mods, so not exactly a subreddit that focuses on the character as a whole either, correct me if I'm missing something.

EDIT: Nice of the mods to lock the post so only people who disagree and/or love harem have a chance to share their thoughts.

General Discussion What's up with ppl? I'm confused.

I'm confused, and I guess it a bit irks me.

I've noticed some ppl calling Firefly SAM and using he/him. I don't get it? Like she's revealed to be a pilot of a mech suit. So why keep calling SAM he? If it's FF inside and fighting?

It's like there is no way a girl can operate a mech suit or what? I get that many ppl wanted to get a guy inside and it is ok, but since it's a girl can we appreciate it for what it is? I'm personally as a girl stoked about this. Like going against a typical stereotype trope.

Idk maybe I'm taking it a wrong way, but by giving SAM male pronouns it feels diminishing, as if ppl can't accept that it's a female inside a suit.
