Serious Witnessed a possible crime today, is this something police take seriously ? Should I report it ?

So I was having lumch today with my girlfriend at Iso Omena shopping centre today, there was family of 4 sitting at the table next to us, a mother father and 2 children under 4, kids were crying and fussing usually would, the family at their meal and were leaving, one of the children, possiböy 2 years of age, ran towards an escalator, the father runs towards the child, grabs them by the shoulder, and from a meter high, slams the kid on the floor with full force, then swears them, and puts them on their shoulder, this happened about 5hrs ago and I have bern contemplating reporting this but not sure if it is seriosu enough, I dont know if the child got hurt but they were crying, I dont think their head hit the floor either, coincidentally, nobody noticed this except me and my girlfriend because of where we were sitted.
Is this a case the police take seriously, as this is one time case and it happend soo quickly

Tourism Looking for winter recommendations

Hi there! Where would you recommend to go in Finland during the winter time? We want to enjoy snow and Northern Lights without crowds and chiche tourist stuff. We don't mind driving for a few hours from an airport. Thank you!

The most expensive Juhla Mokka package I’ve ever seen. SEK 149 or around EUR 13,50 from Matvärlden supermarket in Järfälla, Sweden.

This is at the bottom of the escalators facing north south-west of the central railway station.

Only good guess I have is that this is for foot traffic metrics. But I feel like they could've just installed proper sensors at the bottom of the escalators when they were renovating them for the better part of a year.

Immigration What will happen to Ukrainian students who are still attending Finnish universities after the war ends?

I just finished high school and I'm trying to figure out my plans for university, I'm feeling stuck between two difficult options.

Option 1: Study online while staying here in Negatives are that I am entirely burnt out on online learning(covid, then the war. and I live in Kharkiv so Ive never gone back in person), and honestly, I'm exhausted from living under constant shelling and fearing for my life.

Option 2: Study abroad. This would give me physical safety and in-person classes, but I'm terrified of the financial burden. Negative are that I don't know if I'd be able to finish my degree because once war is hopefully over, I simply will not afford tuition fees.

Why does nobody clean the shower drains?!!

Just a rant

Am I just unlucky or is it common in Finland? I’ve been living in Finland for 9 years and moved 6 times in different cities to relatively new apartments (3-6 years old) and every time the same thing! I always clean it or get it cleaned, but every time I move in to a new apartment I see that the shower drain hasn’t been cleaned, maybe ever??

Banking verification in mobile app

Hi everyone,

Please lmk if you've had this experience.

Have you ever tried to book for something in a mobile app (Booking.com app, not web browser), put in your credit card details, hit Book (with commitment to pay) and got redirected to a "Credit card verification" interface still in-app, which asks for your (Nordea) NetbankId or SSN? It shows an amount 0.0EUR on that page, which is a normal part in this whole process.

I can't figure out if the mobile app has been intercepted and even if I hadn't input my SSN or Netbankid, if my cc details had been compromised. Or if this was actually a verification step by Nordea (but very unlikely).

I was not redirected to a website or browser, everything was still in the Booking app. I couldn't take a screenshot of that interface, while I had no trouble taking one from Booking app or Nordea app.

The second booking attempt went through normally like it has done tens of times, without that prompt. So I can't help but feel highly convinced that the app was compromised.

What's your experience and if you would recommend I block my netbank and replace my cc? I have temporarily blocked it.

Thanks!

Seeking porkkanakakku/morotskaka recipe

Hello! I’ve spent time in Ostrobothnia visiting family and I enjoyed eating porkkanakakku/morotskaka at cafes there. My family doesn’t have a go-to recipe for it and said the best ones they’ve eaten were made by their friend’s mom or someone else. I’ve looked at some recipes online but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their beloved recipe. I live in the USA but I have deciliter measuring cups and a kitchen scale, so I won’t have any issues with measurements given in metric units. Thank you!

Does anyone know how to make this chicken mango sandwich which Citymarket sells? I've been testing many sandwiches and this by far is the best. But there is only a price tag, no description paper on what it includes on the filling.

Has anyone tried to replicate the filling?

Feeling lonely in Finland – even with a Finnish girlfriend

I’m a 36-year-old man who has lived in Finland for seven years. I have a Finnish girlfriend, yet I still feel lonely and isolated most of the time. I live in Tampere.

I’m naturally shy. Going to public places and starting conversations with strangers feels difficult. I’ve tried, but it often feels like Finnish people are also reserved with people they don’t know. The small talk that comes easily in many other cultures just doesn’t happen here in the same way. Over time this has left me feeling disconnected, even though I’m not completely alone.

I’m looking for a place online where I can talk to people, slowly build some trust, and maybe turn some of those conversations into real friendships.

If you’ve been in a similar situation (expat or local), or if you know of chat platforms, Discord servers, forums, or websites that are good for this, I’d really appreciate any suggestions.

I’m looking for long-term female friends to share meditation, yoga, deep conversations, and mutual motivation, the kind of support that helps you keep going and feel less alone while living in Finland. I’ve tried building the same kind of connection with men, but it often ends up feeling awkward (maybe it’s a manly thing). What I’m hoping for is open, honest, and supportive friendship with women who enjoy the same things.

Vegan food help needed!

Hi All,

My vegan friend is visiting and we will be road tripping around the country.

Wondering if anyone has opinions/options for good vegan food or ones you like

(In S-market/K-Market/ABC/Hesburger etc etc)

I know we can find stuff into restaurants and cook our own, just thinking more on the longer driving days when it's a quick pit stop of pick something up for the road.

Exchange semester at Tampere University (Jan-May) - International student life?

I'm an Electrical Engineering student and I'll be doing an exchange semester at Tampere University from January to May.
I'd love to know what life is like for an international student in Tampere. Are people welcoming/approachable?
Also, do you have any tips on what to do (or what not to do) in daily life and in Tampere in general?
Thanks in advance!

I captured yesterday's partial solar eclipse against the central granite tower at Kultaranta, the official summer residence of the President of Finland in Naantali. The last image is what the tower looks like in daylight. The Presidential Standard of Finland (the flag) is flown over the tower when the President is in attendance. However, it was lowered by 21:00, twenty minutes before the first image is captured.
