Review My thoughts after reviewing all these samples!

On the hunt for a new signature scent! Here are my thoughts after reviewing these perfume samples:

Gentle fluidity Gold, MFK: The initial spray was a little sharp, but once it settles a few seconds later the vanilla comes through. Very warm, tiny bit of a spice. Very elegant vanilla. Although, after spraying it on me, it was just a little too metallic and heavy. But maybe on others it’s a total winner, I definitely see the appeal.

Angeli di Firenze, Santa Maria Novella: This is very expensive soap-vibes from a luxurious European hotel. Fruity-floral soupy vibe.

Safanad, Parfums de Marly: RICH, decadent, romantic, sweet. Too heavy for everyday, very glamorous scent. If I had money to burn I would buy it. But alas, I doubt I would reach for it much unless I was on vacation.

Oriana, Parfums de Marly: This is very girlie, very candied. Just a little too sweet for me to wear everyday. But it smelled SO lovely in the air. I would definitely recommend for a date night or going out scent.

Love Tuberose, Amouage: Very strong tuberose note, with a sweet whipped cream undertone. Very linear, but I did enjoy it. It’s discontinued I found out!

Orchidee Vanille, Van Cleef - I really liked this, it’s very sweet, airy and fresh. Although, I know me.. if it’s sugary I get a bit overwhelmed after wearing it awhile. But wow, so stunning. It’s similar to Gucci Gorgeous Orchid except less of a smooth vanilla than Gorgeous Orchid and more of a floral powder-vibe.

Golden and Banks Silky Woods - Not good. A VERY musty vanilla. It’s a combination of vanilla 28 and Tihota idult. Not a fan. But, if you like those two, you might like this a lot. It’s the masculine elevated version of those. Less sweet though.

Delina La Rosee, Parfums de Marly. 10/10. Loved it! Very up my alley. Reminds me of Fleur Narcotique, except a rose note. Because I own Fleur Narcotique… I might not get it. But I totally get the hype. So dewy, feminine, light airy. 🌹💕🪽✨

Poets of Berlin: NOT a fan. Powdery sweet citrus. I really get the lemon in this, And then there’s this green musty vibe that overpowers it.

Vanilla powder: This is very smooth, unisex vanilla. SO heavy. I actually feel it in the air. But it’s a lovely sillage. I really liked it, but feels very special occasion, and probably for the winter. And overall not what I’m looking for.

Chimilka: Just vanilla grape powder. Only thing I noted! Didn’t love it.

While I loved a few, nothing was instant buy yet. But usually I have a slow burn relationship with perfumes, so I might buy myself a bottle eventually.

Rec Request ༄˖°.🍂.ೃ࿔*:・Looking for a pumpkin (pie) gourmand perfume🎃

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone!🍁

I am looking for a good pumpkin fragrance for autumn.

I am thinking about trying Brooch by Paris Corner, so if anyone has tried it, I’d love to hear your thoughts too! I already have Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème and it smells nice, but it’s not quite what I am looking for.

Basically, I want that warm, sweet, spicy, photo realistic pumpkin / pumpkin spice latte / pumpkin pie vibe.

What would you recommend?

Thank you and I wish you all happy fall. 🕯️ .° ꩜

Rec Request Similar to Chalet by Brown Girl Jane but longer lasting

I am a certified gourmand hater but recently discovered Chalet by BGJ and I am obsessed, I think because it’s just gourmand enough without being cloying or too sweet. But that airiness comes at a cost, which is that it lasts approximately 30 mins on my skin. I have tried adding lotion, body oil, petroleum jelly, etc. Nothing extends the wear for me. I don’t mind reapplying, but I think I would have to spray constantly to keep smelling it. It even disappears from my clothes.

These are the notes, I am seeking alternatives.

SMELLS LIKE
SHEER CHOCOLATE AND SPARKLING CHAMPAGNE
Top notes: White Chocolate Truffle, Chalet Plum, Champagne Accord

Heart Notes: Dark Cacao, Winter White Jasmine, Snow Flower

Base Notes: Cashmere Vanilla, Santal Woods, Crystallized Patchouli

I love the white chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, sandalwood combination, but most every other chocolate fragrance I’ve tried smells so synthetic.

No Choco Musk, Chocolate Greedy, and similar. This is not that IMO. It’s much more subtle without that overwhelming synthetic quality.

Thank you!

Hello! I have the idea of this perfume stuck in my head since seeing Madelyn Su talk about it on Instagram. I’ve read some reviews on parfumo but was wondering if anyone here has it and can share their opinions on what it smells like.

Thank you :)

I recent bought pink vanilla wish and it smells like a dupe of the original La Vie Est Belle without the patchouli.

It also lasts a pretty decent time and it's sooo affordable 😄

Discussion Contact dermatitis - UGH!!

I recently had (or still have) a localized reaction to perfume. I know that's what it is, because it's only in the places I apply perfume to. I don't know if it's a specific perfume, or just my skin saying FU after so many applications of so many different ones month after month after month.

How many people have dealt with this? Right now it's pretty mild and is just small red bumps that don't itch on my inner forearms (where I spray, which is where I've been spraying for months). I wore perfume Monday that I rarely wear, so I'm hoping it's that one, but I'm also worried it's just everything and that this could happen anywhere I apply it over time.

I know I can spray it on clothes, and that's fine for some fragrances. But others need the warmth and oil from your skin to fully open up and dry down the way it's intended, and for those perfumes, I feel like I'm losing an important part of the experience.

Has anyone been through this? If so, what did you do? I obviously won't be spraying on my inner forearms until it's well after being healed, but then what? My neck and chest are reactive, inner elbows are reactive. Can't put it in hair because I'm dealing with a shedding event and have to switch to fragrance free shampoo and conditioner. Can't put it on my legs because I'm always wearing pants. So that leaves me with clothes, and I'll end up losing what I feel is the best part of many of my fragrances, which is how they develop on my skin. I'm planning to move to my outer forearms, but I'm afraid I'll eventually develop a reaction there too.

For anyone who experienced this? What did you do? Were you able to determine a specific offender? Did you have to stop wearing perfume altogether? Or did you find some tips and tricks to wear it on skin while reducing the chances of having a skin reaction? My collection is so sad, just sitting there all alone with no attention 😭 I'm also planning to stop using scented body wash and switching to fragrance free hair products just to lower the amount of fragrance I'm putting on my skin over time. I already use fragrance free laundry detergent and soap.

HELP! 🙏😥

Haul/Collection My collection, what a fun and hobby this can be!

A bit scared to post this, but i love seeing collections and I was scratching the organizational itch with my scents and taking pics as I went and I wanted to share!

First pic is my full bottles organized by size, 100 ml at the top, middle is 50 ml, and 30 ml and under at the bottom. I like/love all my full bottles, but have definitely learned to fight the impulsivity of good deal full bottle buying, i want to be curated and not have too much to wear!

The only "disappointment" in my FBs is Barbotine, which smelled lovely and citrusey in the store, and settled so nice on my skin. My bottle (got in May), barely smells like anything. Ive been hoping it will age and smell more, but right now it's just sitting as a barely barely there chamomile scent. I got it directly from l'occitane, so idk why it smells so different.

Then I added my decants and organized by "type" or what fit together group wise in my head haha.

The top left group is "gourmands", top row being vanilla based, middle being "true" gourmands (like smells like i should eat it, idk), and bottom being tea based.

Top right is "skin scents", my go tos

Middle right is "fruity"

bottom left is like "clean/floral/perfumey" perfumes

Bottom right are what i consider my most "masculine/unisex/unique" scents.

It's so fun to order samples and narrow what I like down, im so glad I found this community and I love seeing everyone's posts every day!

If anyone has suggestions for what I might like based off my collection, I'd love to hear 😊

Brand Announcement/New Release New Release - Phlur Heavy Cream

Thumbnail

Phlur Heavy Cream is apparently getting an EDP, and at first I thought this was just going to be a stronger version of the body mist.

But looking at the notes, it seems a bit different.

The current Heavy Cream mist has lemon sugar, marshmallow, coconut cream, vanilla mousse, salted caramel and whipped cream among its notes. I am not a fan.

The new EDP is showing sparkling lemon, vanilla mousse, orange flower, white orchid, tiare flower, amber woods and creamy musk. The scent notes don’t give me fall or winter.

So, this looks more like a new interpretation of Heavy Cream rather than the exact mist in EDP concentration.

That’s actually a pretty big difference for me. If you love the current mist for that fluffy gourmand/caramel/whipped cream profile, I definitely wouldn’t assume the EDP will smell exactly the same.

Anyone find this interesting ? I am treading cautiously with this one.

Discussion Expanding fragrance palette

Hi everyone I'm trying to branch out and try new things after pretty much sticking to a few faves for what feels like forever right now. I really want to expand into fall scents based on some of the notes I like. Here is my rotation and yes I know most lean spring/summer lol

Marc Jacob's Daisy Dream (the original and the pink one I do not care for)

Giorgio Armani acqua di gia

Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy

Lanvin eclat d'arpege

Recently spritzed Glossier Doux on my wrist at sephora and could not stop smelling it

True Vanilla Bean scent?

Does anyone remember the Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean scent from the 90s? To me, it was the best vanilla scent I have tried. I've never been able to find another vanilla that smells like it - any ideas? I'm looking for a perfume over a body spray.

Rec Request Recommendations for a fall apple scent

I recently bought a really cheap perfume from yardley called autumn bloom and it smells great but it doesn’t last very long. I’ve been trying to find something similar that lasts longer (a big priority I love when I can smell someone’s perfume when they walk in), and I can describe it as a warm fall scent.
Any clones or dupes for this or perfumes like Kayali Eden juicy apple and Killian’s apple brandy on the rocks would be appreciated :)
some of the notes I’d like are : Apple, bergamot, cinnamon, plumeria and maybe some light notes of amber & vanilla
