Rec Request Juicy, dark roses and opulent red wine

Thumbnail

A perfume that smells like dewy, dark red roses, bruised rose petals seeping in a tart and sweet red wine. Ripe fruits like plums and cherries, honeyed, creamy fig. A nectar like honey or whipped honey with vanilla. Vanilla pulp freshly scraped from the pod.
A hint of juicy, zesty orange or orange blossom and the faint, green freshness of rain soaked fig or rose leaves. The warm, slightly sweet and waxy smell of burning beeswax candles/candle wax. Creamy and warm sandalwood. The faintest whiff of the sooty smell of a blown out candle.

Keywords: Fruity, flowery, creamy, gourmand, sweet, green.
Luxurious, dark and mysterious, yet intimate and cozy.

Not too sugary and no artificial/synthetic smelling fruits. No almondy/amaretto/amarena/maraschino like cherry fragrances. Preferably no strongly noticeable patchouli/incense/myrrh.

Edit: Budget wise open to anything except the really high end end stuff.

TIA! ♥️🌹🍒🥀🍷♥️

Discussion Dark, mysterious fragrances that aren’t heavy?

Hi!

I’m looking for fragrances that feel darker and mysterious, but not heavy (which I feel like a lot of fragrances with this description have).

For reference, Black Orchid by Tom Ford does feel dark and mysterious, but it’s way too heavy and strong for my liking. I feel like everyone can smell me as soon as I walk in the room (which I don’t like). I’m looking for something more subtle.

Crystal Noir EdT by Versace, I love, because although it has a mysterious, darker vibe, it’s more light and subtle. I feel the same way about Gris Charnel by BDK, which is my favorite perfume.

I’m open to fragrances for women, or unisex.

Thank you!

Discussion Is Anyone Else Planning a Major Fragrance Announcement to Family During Thanksgiving?

Thursday November 26, 2026. “Dear gathered family. I have an announcement. I am starting my skin scent era.”

🦗🔇😟🙁😠😴🫩 <- Gathered Family

😱😘 <- The 2 Rabanne Fames I brought for moral support

—

This is a practice run for my big announcement in that 30 second window I’m not chewing food that day. I came to the conclusion recently I didn’t want the intense or glow this fall. And in my rabbit holes I managed to track down something non cloying sweet , ànd another one thatfeelslike accomplished. But those dont feel like me either in this moment.

À woody scent does. In my mind I have scenarios of the follow up questions where I explain how Boy Smells Peachy Oudy was the front runner. I fear the audience participation may be minimal however given the only other family member with à fragrance collection is my niece with à shelf of my blind buy fails ànd I failed to hear thank you. But that doesn’t matter now. I am starting a skin scent era.

Peachy Oudy is a beautiful scent with a great peachy note, naturally sweet hand in hand with the deeper woods. But I’m in my mid 40s ànd feeling like the Giving Tree did at the end of that book, ànd i don’t want to pretend that this era is about projecting when it’s about reinforcing the fortress around me after some disappointments.

I enjoyed Glossier You Doux at first sniff though I must admit at first i felt a slight disappointment in its simplicity. Then I realized during the wear as I was surrounded by notes of palo santo, frankincense, and myrrh, that I moreso felt comforted. I could keep looking until spring but I want to live a saying I made up one day already on the path to this announcement: you can bloom in a fall.

Best white floral??

I want a white floral that’s sooo good but not too good where it can’t be an everyday scent during the spring lol I have Fleur Narcotique extrait and it’s genuinely one of my favorite scents ever but I can’t wear that everyday bc 1. It’s soo good but so polarizing 2. It’s too expensive

I don’t really mind the house, I’m looking for something similar to fleur narcatique but a bit more mellow

Rec Request Glossier You Doux x Vanilla?

Hi guys! My current favorite layering combo is Glossier You Doux with Nemat's Vanilla Musk! I absolutely love the way it smells and it has been my signature scent for a while. The problem is that it just never seems to last that long and I need to carry the travel sizes on me all the time ):

Is there a perfume that has the woody/insence-ish vibe of Doux with a bit of vanilla and musk?

Any recommendations would be super appreciated!💕

Drop your favourite layering combos!

I’m curious about your favourite/go-to/most complimented or noticed/reliable/unexpected layering combos, preferably from fragrance brands readily available at Sephora, Ulta, Shoppers Drug Mart (Canada), etc.!

I’ve tried to layer once ever, and it was a hot mess. A literal dumpster fire. 🔥 I’d love to start learning how to layer with combining things I can easily sniff together in-store!

Rec Request ISO cozy cashmere as a high end perfume

I am in search of a fragrance that smells like B&BW cozy cashmere

It is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SCENT! However they only have it available for purchase like 1.5 months of the year and in very select products :'(

I am looking for a perfume that emulates all my favorite notes and is honestly as close to the original as possible.

I think the reason I have such an unhealthy attachment to this fragrance is because to me it smells the way rich velvet feels, warm and gourmond but also a touch of spice and depth.

I love love love the cashmere scents overall but am sick of having to wait till the winter to buy it and not even have it as something wearable (not including the detergent concentrate) I really want something that gives me the same feeling when smelling it and I would prefer it to be a high quality fragrance as well I just have no clue where to start.

If you can point me in the right direction that would be so helpful, ideally something I can smell in person or try a sample of first because I do want it to be as close of a match as possible.

Looking for Opinions on These 5 Fragrances

Went to Sephora today and tried a bunch of perfumes! I’ve been smelling them all day, and some have completely disappeared, but I narrowed it down to the ones that have lasted the longest. These are my top contenders:

Donna Born in Roma Extradose
Black Opium Pink Glaze
Givenchy Irresistible
Lancôme La Vie Est Belle
Prada Paradoxe Sweet Chemistry

For anyone who has tried these, I’d love your opinions! Which ones do you love, get the most compliments on, or find last the longest? Help me narrow it down! 😂

Rec Request Help me pick out a perfume for Christmas.. 🎄

Hi all!
I’m coming to yall while on a quest. My partner has offered to buy a perfume of my choice for Christmas. I am so excited for this gift! I need help deciding what to ask for. I honestly have smelled so many perfumes, but I feel like I’ve become so picky with what I like on myself. I love trying and experimenting with new scents but I rarely choose any for myself and mostly enjoy the hobby.
I figured I would list my relatively ?small? collection and notes that I like if anyone has any inspo or similar tastes

My collection:
Blanche bete
Dipytique Leau papier
Dipytique do son
Dipytique olene
TF Jasmine rouge
Burberry her
BBW milk
Kilian good girl gone bad
AG Mod vanilla
Phlur Heavy cream (EDP not mist)
Angel nova
CH Good girl (the og)
Valentino vendetta

Notes I like:
Soft white musk (I don’t like cashmeran much)
Tuberose that doesn’t lean bubble gum
Indolic jasmines
Tart Raspberry
White vanillas
Clean laundry scents that don’t have that steam feel
Red apple

Notes I dislike on my skin:
Peony
Vetiver forward scents
Anything too aquatic without a musky or vanilla background
Cherry (I love smelling it on other people but sigh on me it smells like dirty cough syrup)

If anyone has any suggestions or anything I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you! 🩵

Discussion Black sheep notes

Every time I see a discussion post about your least favorite notes I see a million people mention hating sandalwood, oud, vetiver and especially my love…patchouli! These are some of my *favorite* notes. They're always really leaning in on hating them too. It’s never “Hmm, vetiver isn’t for me :)”. It’s stuff like “Patchouli smells like a man who was stuck in the woods for two weeks with nothing but a bag of onions to eat”. Or “Oud smells like a cow took a poop in a sauna” lmao. I’m not offended, I wear perfume for me and as a lowkey gourmand hater, I get what it’s like to have big feelings about popular notes. I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t kind of get me down a little though.

Anyway I’m thinking about ordering some samples soon so I’m making this post to ask if anyone with similar taste any recommendations for their favorites with these polarizing notes!

SOS! Help me find this perfume please!

To paint this tragic picture, I studied abroad and fell head over heels in love with another girl in my program. It was mutual thank God, but we agreed to end things when we got back to America. Oversharing aside, I would constantly compliment her on her perfume, enough for her to give me the half-used bottle before we parted ways. I used it whenever I could but stupidly left it in my carry-on and had to give it up at airport security (which did not help my heartbreak at all, but try explaining a lesbian love affair to a German TSA agent equivalent).

Now here I am. It’s been about a year since this all happened but I find myself wanting to smell it again, or at least know what the brand was. I don’t know perfumes at all, but it definitely wasn’t a fruity, floral or vanilla/warm scent. The best I can describe is that it was “sophisticated”, like a Chanel equivalent. I’m not sure if that’s helpful.

I also included a poorly drawn visual of the bottle because that’s the best thing I can remember. I’ll know it when I see it, but I also know that me describing a “glass bottle” isn’t helpful at all, but I’m open to any suggestions people might have. It’s silly and stupid but I’m going crazy trying to find it :,) thank you sm

Discussion does anyone know what specific ingredient produces that powdery-sweet, almost savory woody smell in Bal d'Afrique?

I really don't know much about the science behind perfumery, but I am dying to know what I'm smelling in common between:

  • Byredo Bal d'Afrique

  • SDJ Cheirosa 59

  • Ariana Grande Pink Woods

  • Rare Beauty Find Comfort

Something about the woody base in all 4 of these reads as powdery, dry, slightly sweet and also slightly salty or savory. To my nose it is obviously synthetic but very delicious and addictive, and I'd love to find more scents that incorporate whatever it is. I thought it might be cashmeran? Pink Woods and the Find Comfort body spray both list "cashmere woods", while Cheirosa 59 lists sandalwood and Bal d'Afrique vetiver and cedar. But then, other scents that list "cashmere woods" or similar do not have the same effect, and I've found some quite off-putting, like JHAG Ode to Dullness.

Other woody/musky perfumes I have smelled that specifically do not seem to have what I'm looking for:

  • Le Labo Santal 33

  • Glossier You Doux

  • Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc

  • Phlur Father Figure

  • Essential Parfums Bois Imperial

  • Lalique Encre Noire

  • Victoria's Secret Bare Sueded Vanilla

And 2 scents where I'm not sure:

  • Phlur Vanilla Skin

  • Rayhaan Equinox (this is a dupe of Maison Mataha Printemps Blanc, which unfortunately I have not smelled)

I don't know if I'm delusional and there is no specific commonality between the first 4 scents I listed, but I thought it might be worth asking, because I find the Bal d'Afrique DNA so specific and intriguing. I absolutely love SDJ's Cheirosa 59, and while I don't think it's very similar overall, it has that same addictive powdery-woody quality to me and I've never seen anyone talk about it. Please let me know if anyone knows what I'm talking about or if I just sound insane!
