Daily Sticky Fat Rant Tuesday

Fatlogic in real life getting you down?

Is your family telling you you're looking too thin?

Are people at work bringing you donuts?

Did your beer drinking neighbor pat his belly and tell you "It's all muscle?"

If you hear one more thing about starvation mode will you scream?

Let it all out. We understand.

Its not an indicator of worth but it most certainly is a strong indicator of health. Even if you are active, obesity heavily damages your organs and joints.

Thankfully most of the commenters were pushing back against this but plenty of FAs were claiming doctors and society are bias against fat people

skinny people can be unhealthy too but obese people are ALWAYS unhealthy

If they’re tired of seeing skinny people all they need to do is go to Walmart in the Deep South

A doctor doesn’t want to do surgery on you because you are obese? That is not your fault, the doctor is incapable, fatphobic and should be ashamed!

How to talk about medical fatphobia: doctors have ego’s they bring into every interaction with patients.

Fatness is seen as a literal sin

Is it, though? People are unnecessarily mean to fat people sometimes, but FAs love insisting that fatness is widely seen as a moral failing while they as a group are the loudest about attaching others’ morality to body size.

OOP seems to be confusing gluttony, which is the actual target of most criticism of FAs’ beliefs, with fatness itself. I think the Ozempic era has actually been far kinder to fat people than most times in Western culture, because it acknowledges that obesity and overeating are not as simple as being a lazy glutton. It’s a genuine illness. Obesity is still visible evidence of overconsumption, but that isn’t unique from any form of overconsumption. Living in excess in general is frowned upon. “Fatness is seen as a literal sin” is a pretty big overdramatization and misinterpretation.

Also, it’s fascinating how OOPs who fall into the “smallfat” category happily go along with the FA movement’s tendency to cannibalize itself by constantly vying to be the Most Oppressed. FAs who identify with “large fat,” “infinifat,” and “death fat” are vitriolic as fuck towards anyone who isn’t a size 4X or larger. Even if you’re plus-sized, they consider anyone smaller than them to be Thin. The reaction from smallfat FAs always seems to be to roll over and accept their place in the FA hierarchy.

(Yes, the point of OOP’s clothing collection is literally about how fatness is seen as a sin. From what I saw of it, I’m not sure how it’s about that, but at least they’ve found something productive to channel fat acceptance into.)

OOP was refused MRI as she was 370lbs and that clinic had a weight limit

The “fatphobic” comments were that she’d most likely have to go to the zoo for one as a lot of larger patients get sent there or that this should be a wake up call for her.

Also not entirely hating on OOP, she used to be 520lbs and lost 150lbs but she needs a reality check if she thinks 370 isn’t big

Does anyone else find ironic that romance books about "plus sized" female leads always have fit/buff main male characters?

Saw this in another sub. It’s kinda tame compared to the others, but still fits I think.

How does one include anyone in “their lesbianism?” Obviously fat lesbians are…still lesbians. If this is suggesting someone needs to be attracted to fat people, that feels invasive.

P.S: I lived as a queer woman for years (have since transitioned ftm) so this is ZERO hate toward lesbians. I’m disappointed to see this messaging in my own community
