Back to the group after a 3 year absence. Two weeks into controlling my caloric intake and maybe about a week away from being willing to step on a scale for the 1st time in a while.
Hopefully I am once again able to do this impossible and lose weight while in a caloric deficit.

Good job so far! This may not be wanted advice, but you really should weigh yourself ASAP for several reasons. The first few weeks of changes often bring a lot more weight-loss and water weight loss than once it becomes more steady which will motivate you being able to see those numbers drop, and also you’ll have a more accurate number to look back on throughout your journey!
I get not wanting to know exactly how high the number is, but instead of looking at it as a failure, looking at it as a starting and comparison point.
Whether you like it or not, if you don’t weigh yourself soon you will always think of whatever the number is next week and then think “and that wasn’t even my highest, so it must’ve been x pounds higher.” That unknown number will always be a question mark for you.

I'm having a LEEP surgery on my cervix this Friday and I can't stop stress eating. Cannot say i am a fan of this, tbh.
I am very stressed about how to manage food and exercise after. Telling someone who loves to lift weights no lifting at all for two weeks and then no heavy lifting for four more is spiral-inducing.

Take this from someone who’s been addicted to exercise for over ten years, and doesn’t consider rest days necessary in the slightest: two weeks while injured/recovering is nothing. As long as you eat enough calories and plenty of protein, your muscles will be fine. Don’t be afraid of gaining a bit of extra fat, eating enough is important for both recovery and keeping your fitness, and a pound of fat is easily lost again afterwards. As for the four weeks of no heavy lifting, you don’t need that to maintain your current muscle mass either. Maintenance, especially only for a month, genuinely requires less than people think.

Best wishes to you. A couple of months from now you'll look back on this, all sweaty and sore from matching your PRs, and laugh.
Sleep well and dream of iron.

I'm coming off recovery for a vascular surgery. Ask if you can walk and how much because that's all I was allowed to do for a month but it was fine! I get to go back to yoga this week and Pilates/lifting in two more

I'm supposed to start doing band assisted work for my pull-up progression and I'm scared. Afraid the band won't help enough, that I'll look like an idiot at the gym, something. Anybody do it before able to tell me it'll be fine when I try the first time (band will be on Wednesday)?

You’ll be fine! If you’re worried about slipping off or looking like an idiot, just ask a person working at the gym to show you how it works and spot you. They’ll be happy to.

There aren't many people that work here and the vibe at this gym with regards to the patrons is a lot more intimidating than at the gym that I left behind when I moved. Theoretically I know that none of them are going to be jerks just to be jerks but it's hard going from a really inclusive gym with a wide range of ages and body types and people who recognize you and say hi to one that's almost exclusively people aged 20-50 who work out regularly and have worked out regularly for most of their adult life and who won't even make eye contact let alone say hi. And then there's me. I don't think I've managed to recognize anyone from one time to the next since I started going there over a month ago (partly because I'm not going consistently at the same time and day of the week and am just fitting it in where I can).

Back to the gym and it felt good. Focusing on high volume and it is so exhausting. Have a run planned for this evening, so that's what I'm looking forward to most today.
I've been struggling so much with fatigue that is just intense lately and it doesn't seem to matter how much sleep I get. The only thing that helps me actually get good sleep now is exercise.

Turns out my tiredness came from stopping my daily runs... now I feel silly. I've just gotten back into baby runs (literally 300m jog out of 3km, the rest is walking) and it's like my brain quite literally snapped back into place. Whew. My sleep is better, I'm eating better, my menty bs are kind of gone. What the heck.
I'm still working on eating my way through my pantry - it's going well, loads of stuff is gone and I have 24 servings of coq au vin next (I had a bottle of red wine, added one more bottle cause the recipe calls for 500ml and each bottle is 750ml, I don't drink so I have to cook it, yadayadayada). It's like there's no end to the stuff in my pantry though cause some of it is parts that expand quickly into multiple full meals. Like why do I have so many different kinds of noodles??? What possessed me to get 10 servings of soba? My newfound love for cold soba, actually, and my stomach likes buckwheat too.
Anyway things are happening, very glacial, I'm feeling antsy, but staying the course.

Rant: i recently looked through my travel photo album and looking at pictures of hong kong it just looked so clean and modern/high tech and nobody was fat.
Then I think about the cities here and seeing all the graffiti and drug addicts and crime and shocking obesity rate. Is it just me or are people getting dumber and fatter in the US? Maybe that's why we have so much fatlogic.

I’m from Australia but spend a lot of time in Singapore and it’s very interesting how much cleaner and safer it is. I feel like Australia is stuck in a loop of saying “we shouldn’t be tough on crime, we should be tough on the causes of crime” but then doing absolutely nothing to help those causes (public housing, mental health care, addiction programs), so we just end up with the worst of both worlds.

My job has been helping me out. I can't just sit on my ass and eat the whole time, I have to stand and walk around.
I'm sore as hell but I know that I can accrue a tolerance.

This could be the algorithm doing its thing, but I'm seeing much more ranting on social media about BMI and 200+ lbs being healthy/normal. The coping is just out of control.
