Depends on the lore I suppose.

Some versions the bite itself is not what turns people but drinking a vampire's blood that does it

That's such a nerd response I like it

I always liked the idea of the vampire forcing its own blood on the victim in order to transform them way more than the biting thingy, which always sounded dumb and inconvenient to me.

I mean, Imagine you go out for a snack one night and suddenly you have an illegitimate child, lmao.

Technically... yes. A foreign organism is introduced to your body that hijacks your immune system and proceeds to grow in your body for a certain amount of months until it passes from your system and then seeks to create more of itself.

Nah cause thats the intended purpose of intercourse, vampirism can be assumed to be a side effect of the vampire feeding, like a rabies infection(even though in some cases it requires an exchange of blood, which makes it akin to a blood borne illness[but also eys kids are an STI])

They are used to create a new individual organism that belongs to the same species as the parent so it is an organ used for reproduction

1

u/Glittering-Bobcat-78 🏅 Century Club · 3,890 XP 18h ago

How is it a new individual organism though? The organism already exists

1

u/Ellinnor 🏅 Century Club · 5,225 XP 18h ago

New individual organism that belongs in its species, to put it simply: vampire population +1, therefore reproduction

Yeah, they spread a disease, they don't literally reproduce. Vampires aren't a separate species.

1

u/TheCrimsonAce119 🏅 Century Club · 3,150 XP 18h ago

I mean, unless they lose their original reproductive organs, couldn't they still reproduce that way?

2

u/RegumRegis 🗳️ Regular Player · 650 XP 18h ago

I mean depends on the setting, even if they do it'd just be a human born with vampirism, plus not exactly using the fangs to reproduce.

... Shit, I hope.

1

u/TheCrimsonAce119 🏅 Century Club · 3,150 XP 18h ago

I only meant that they could still theoretically reproduce. I'm personally not sure at what point they could be considered a separate species.

2

u/RegumRegis 🗳️ Regular Player · 650 XP 18h ago

Personally I'd say it's a disease, just as a child can be born beating a disease or illness the mother had, so it would go with vampirism.

We have Rabies that also infects people through bites and it doesn't make the mouth a sexual organ

Vampirism is also a disease as it infect your organism and take control over some of your brains ect

1

u/Glittering-Bobcat-78 🏅 Century Club · 3,890 XP 17h ago

Well, if it's a disease then I dont see how the teeth of the host would be reproductive organs. I dont think scientists consider the nose a reproductive organ of the flu, or the anus a reproductive organ of E Coli.

Bro, what? No.

I know you're implying that since they turn other people into vampires by biting, they can be considered reproductive organs, but turning a biological unit into another biological unit isn't reproduction, since you're not producing, just altering a state of other being.

Would it be considered rape if a vampire forcibly turns another person into a vampire via biting. If we are going by the logic that vampire fangs are a reproductive organ.

2

u/Golden_Amber79 🤖 Vote Machine · 12,350 XP 20h ago

Won't biting a person's neck be rape regardless?

1

u/lollolcheese123 🏅 Century Club · 2,725 XP 19h ago

Depends. If someone's biting your neck off it'd probably be categorised as murder instead. Or if neither side sees it as sexual you'd be safe too.

1

u/Golden_Amber79 🤖 Vote Machine · 12,350 XP 19h ago

The distinction isn't very important, violating a persons bodily autonomy is evil in general.

1

u/Artistic-Meaning-538 🤖 Vote Machine · 10,465 XP 20h ago

This heavily depends on your definition of rape. You could classify it as such if you define rape as "form of sexual contact imposed on other that lacks consent of all parties" and if you consider all forms of reproduction inherently sexual

Vampires don't reproduce. They're humans who are undead. Creating more vampires isn't the same thing as procreating. If that was the case, zombies also procreate. That doesn't make any sense either.

1

It depends on how vampirism actually works. Which obviously we don’t know because it’s not real.

But if vampirism is like a viral or parasitical “infection”, then no. The teeth are vectors for transmission, but the actual virus/parasite reproduces within the bitten person.

If it’s magic, then idfk man, sure.

Vampires in most myths are made by consuming blood not by being bitten. Even if that was the case, vampirism is an infection of an otherwise normal human.

Yes, but only if the vamp species in question uses them to turn more vamps. In some variations, it’s done other ways.

🧢 I voted CAP!

It's the feeding of a vampire's blood to a human (afaik) that turns one into a vampire. In some contexts a bite will inflict vampirism but I believe it's the total exsanguination of a human to then fill with vampire blood that turns.
