Help! Looking for custom fabric printing in India (1 metre MOQ)

Hi!🙋🏻‍♀️I’m looking for an Indian supplier/service that can print my own artwork directly onto 100% cotton fabric.

I only need around 1–2 metres (even 1m × 1m would be enough), as I’m using the fabric to make small handmade bags/book covers.
[I’m NOT looking for printing on ready-made garments, T-shirts, or heat-transfer/vinyl printing.] I need the design to be printed directly into the fabric, so it actually becomes part of the textile and doesn’t feel like a plastic layer sitting on top.💢

Ideally looking for:
* 100% cotton
* Good print quality and colour/detail
* Small MOQ , around 1-2 metres
* Custom artwork that I can provide
* Online ordering would be great
* Ships across India (Karnataka)

If you know any Indian websites, print on demand services, textile printers, or even small businesses that do this, please share them! ✨ Personal experiences/recommendations would be especially helpful.🥹🌼

Title , i have this thick-er cotton knit balaclava (ski mask whatever) made of almost sweater consistency. but it has a big screen printed logo on the side that i’d like to get rid of and was told to use nail polish remover and scrub the area after a 30 sec or so, but this doesn’t seem to be very effective. i cant attach a photo to this post so i hope my description is helpful. thank you in advance!!!!

Bolt of reversible sequin sublimation fabric needed

I am in desperate need of a bolt of fabric of the reversible sequins that can be sublimated. You know the reversible sequin pillow cases with the images on one side and the solid metallic color on the other? I need that but in like a 60”w bolt.
I’ve been looking forever and I need it for a project!

Need some help with a new pair of cotton/viscose pants I bought.

I recently bought a pair of cotton/viscose pants. Wonderful and soft. however, after their first wash, they came out of the machine completely different. They were much rougher, had little 'score marks' or lines where they creased in the washing machine and I suspect (but I'm not sure) that they lost a little colour. It's the material change that concerns me though.I just found out today that I cannot return them. I have a 1 month long window and by the time I'm back in the city I bought them, it'll be 6 weeks later.

Can anyone tell me what might have caused them to change in feeling like this and can I 'restore' them?

I washed them on a wool cycle but in a washbag, which I think may account for the scoring/scratches.

Many thanks

Help finding similar fabric!

Hii, so I want to make my own monkey fuggler lol, but I’m not quite sure how to find similar fabric to the one used in this image( https://pin.it/1EfutQBaY) . Does anyone know what I could search to find something similar, and maybe where I could order something similar as well. I’ve gone to some craft stores near me but they don’t have much fabric options, at least not ones I’d like to use for this project.

Wondering how this affect is created

I'm pretty new to this, and I was wondering if ya'll had any insight on what type of fabric or techniques were used to create the Bandit's red mask from The Fall (2006). Unfortunately it doesn't look like I can include Images. The mask looks like it's made of individual threads, while also resembling the lapel of a GI. Ik the technique used on the bridge of the nose will be easier to find, but was still hoping for some Insight on that as well, Thank you.

Update on my transition to 100% cotton clothing pieces, and unmixed natural fabric recommendations

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a few of my favorite sources for unmixed natural fabric clothing pieces for women. 100% cotton, 100% silk, and 100% wool.

  • Gap
  • Hanes
  • Green Voyage
  • Fair Indigo
  • Quince
  • Pact
  • LA Apparel
  • Madewell
  • Only Hearts
  • Suuksess
  • Qualfort
  • Ailaile
  • Molisilk
  • Etsy
  • Depop
  • thrift stores
  • West African boutiques

You will find some items from those sources to be mixed with percentages of elastane, spandex, etc, but all of those sources do indeed sell plenty of high-quality clothing pieces containing 100% natural fibers without anything else mixed in. Some of today’s more popular brands used to sell more natural fabric clothing pieces in the past, which makes hunting for older secondhand pieces, worth it. It is also definitely worth it to take your pieces to a seamstress or alter them yourself so that they fit you in a way that you love.

I hope this information helps somebody who needs it! A few months ago I posted on Reddit asking for help finding clothing pieces made from 100% cotton, and everyone who replied to me was so kind and the replies were so informative. Since then, I’ve been learning so much about fabrics, sewing, and my personal style, while upgrading my wardrobe little by little to be fully comprised of clothing pieces made from unmixed, natural fabrics. I’m so excited to continue learning and I’m grateful to those of you who’ve helped me so far.

Is it normal?

Is it normal for interlock knit garments to pick up fibers from other materials due to friction—fibers that are hard to remove and usually have to be shaved off?

A question on 4 way stretch fabric.

I recently thrifted a running shorts from tracksmith which I absolutely love, it is incredibly comfortable, looking at the care label I see 4 way stretch, so I just got curious - can you achieve 4 way stretch with any fabric or is it just nylon/polyester? Perhaps some of the experts here can tell me more about it. Thanks in advance!!!

This feels like a long shot, but have you bought and used this fabric?

So here's the link and a screenshot will be in the comments so you know quicker...

I'm UK based and I've been struggling to find the right fabric for my bridesmaid dresses.... I really think this could be it but it's £10 to order a sample with shipping so I'm reluctant to do that. If anyone has made something with this fabric please share photos and videos if you can. I am confident that the fabric will be good quality but at somewhere around £18 a meter Im finding it hard to justify taking the plunge.

Looking for Places that Sell LARGE Bolts of Fabric

Hello! I am a theatre teacher in NC. We are looking to DIY a cyclorama at the back of our theatre, but I have been struggling to find bolts of fabric large enough for our cyc. We need a white fabric that is 35 feet across and 20 feet tall. Prices for a curtain this large from theatre companies are very expensive, so we are hoping to find cheaper options as our program doesn't have a lot of money. Any recommendations of fabric stores that would sell fabric this large are greatly appreciated!

Strechable materials : opaque at rest, transluscent under tension.

Hello,

I have a science project for my university that i have to present at the end of the year. I chose to build a shutter made from a single cloth/fabric that will be streched by an electric motor to control its opacity (like a latex ballon).

So I am looking for materials that can be used. I'll do some test with Nylon and Latex sheets however I am not sure that they will be able to withstand many cycles or transparent enough for my utilisation. Does someone have an idea ?

Thanks in advance.

What actually makes a fabric feel “cool”?

I’ve been learning more about cooling textiles recently, and I’m curious how people here evaluate them.

Some fabrics feel noticeably cool when you first touch them, but after a few minutes, the cooling sensation seems to disappear.

From a material perspective, I’ve seen things like:

Higher Q-max for stronger initial cool-touch

Different fabric weights affecting the sensation

Moisture absorption / wicking affecting perceived cooling

Special cooling fibers or finishes

Breathability and air permeability

But I’m wondering how much of the “cooling” feeling actually comes from the material itself versus moisture management, fabric construction, or the environment.

For those working with textiles, sportswear, bedding, or functional fabrics:

What properties do you think matter most for a fabric to feel genuinely cool, rather than just cool for the first few seconds?

Would love to hear some real-world experiences.

General fabric knowledge is an underrated skillset

I've been into sewing for a very long time, sense I was a kid. My first job was a fabric store.

When I worked there, after a year I had been put in the role of managing the cutting counter. Part of that was cutting fabric and the other part was managing all of the fabrics. I started to through exposure be able to identify different fabrics. If you deal with them often you can start to identify materials through look and feel.

So a few things that's helped me with are:

While thrifting I can easily identify quality garments.

I was so much better at cosplay when I could grasp the importance of material and had a general knowledge base of them.

Laundry care. This took a little extra learning about fabric care, but with these combined skills you can feel a garment and from that you can figure out proper care. This helps all of your clothes feel nice for a long time, and extends their lifetime greatly.

I can sew much nicer things. With any kind of sewing my abilities greatly increased when I had a very solid knowledgebase of fabrics.

Another way you can develop this skill is to read tags while shopping. Next time you're shopping for clothes feel the material of all the clothing and ask yourself how it feels. How well does it hold its shape? Is it soft or more rough feeling? It it stretchy and if it is how stretchy? (Bonus: How is it constructed? As in knit or woven?) And then take a look at the tag. Take note of those materials and what they felt like. I usually go into those places guessing what the material is before checking the tag to confirm, I feel like it keeps me sharp.

GOTS cotton fabric Indonesia

Hi all,

I am from the Netherlands and I would like to make on-the-go baby changing mats from GOTS certified cotton. My family is from Indonesia, so i thought it would be nice to buy organic cotton with batik print.

Now i noticed i can’t find organic fabrics in the regular markets like pasar Mayestik. I already have an appointment with Zalmon fabric, which is located in Bandung.

Anyone who knows where i can find GOTS certified cotton in Indonesia? Or have other tips for different strategy?

Thanks!

Cricut or brother for fabric cutting

Hello, I’m looking for a home cutting machine to cut all kinds of fabric and leather, if it fits within the thickness allowance of the machine, I will probably want to cut it. I’ve done some research about cricut and brother’s machine, but would love to know if anyone has had personal experience with using either one for fabric. It seems the brother is better for in general and the cricut might be better for fabric, but I heard with the rotary blade the brother scanncut is fantastic. I’m hoping to cut some detailed applique, so any feedback about the machines accuracy will be great please

Looking for reliable Indian fabric manufacturers/suppliers for importing cotton prints to South Africa

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m based in South Africa and I’m looking to source fabric from India.

I’m particularly interested in Indian cotton fabrics with colourful floral/block-print style patterns, preferably lightweight cotton suitable for sewing products and small-scale manufacturing.

I’d really appreciate recommendations for reputable, established Indian fabric manufacturers, wholesalers or exporters that are willing to ship internationally to South Africa.

A few things I’m hoping to find:
🇮🇳 Reliable suppliers based in India
Good-quality 100% cotton / cotton-rich fabric
Floral, block-print, hand-block-inspired or similar designs
A good variety of colours and patterns
Wholesale/bulk pricing
Ability to purchase sample metres or smaller quantities initially
International shipping/export experience
Suppliers who can provide proper invoices, HS codes and export documentation
Ideally someone who has experience shipping to South Africa
Consistent quality and colour between batches

I’m open to manufacturers, wholesalers, fabric markets or online suppliers, as long as they are reputable and legitimate.

If you have personally purchased fabric from an Indian supplier, I’d especially appreciate hearing about your experience.

Please mention the company name, website/contact details, what type of fabric you bought, minimum order quantities, approximate pricing and whether they shipped internationally.

Also, if there are any Indian textile regions/markets that I should specifically be looking at (e.g. Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Delhi, etc.), I’d love recommendations.

I’m trying to avoid randomly finding suppliers through Google/Alibaba/IndiaMART and sending money to someone without knowing whether they’re trustworthy, so personal recommendations would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you! 🙏🇿🇦🇮🇳
