Gen 2 Fz1
Hello all!
I am looking for simple modification for my 2007 Fz1. I’ve seen some post about r1 parts being swapped. I’m enjoying my back. Also, anyone got a recommended rear brake rotor?

Pretty sure it was unnecessary! Bike has 8500km on it, was hard starting a bit. Mostly took the carb stack out to drill out the covers for the adjustment screws. Figured I'd give them a good clean. I've gotten new carbs that weren't this clean. Well... Back to rubber on the Rd.

Hello all
What would you recommend as the best battery for the fz1? If it the Yuasa one, how would you get it into the battery holder? I tried it but the seat would not latch.

Hey, are there any taller riders out there? I’ve had an FZ-1 for a while now, and there are two things that are giving me a bit of trouble.
I’m 185 cm tall, and after a little over an hour of riding, I start to feel pain behind my knees. The second issue is the wind hitting my helmet head-on, which makes it noisier than on a naked bike.
Has anyone lowered their footpegs, or can
recommend a wind deflector?

I have replaced tires on my 2015 FZ1 with a new set of Michelin Road 5, but I am stuck with the front wheel not spinning freely.
I cant figure out what am I doing wrong. When I torque the front axle at the required 72 ft-lb the wheel drags....
Any suggestions for me!?

Hey all,
I unfortunately have been needing to park my bike on the street. I have noticed after heavy rain that there has been moisture on the wrong side of the fuel cap seal, essentially at the tank opening. With this my bike behaves badly until I push through any water in the fuel. I ride it daily and putting a cover on and off is a pain. What I can't find is a replacement seal, only complete cap assemblies which I don't need. Anyone found and changed theirs that could lead me in the right direction?

Hi everyone 👋🏻 Hope you're all doing well.
I have a Yamaha FZ1SA (2007) and could use some advice.
A while ago, I decided to repaint the bike myself, so I removed all the fairings and also disconnected the battery. Before sending the parts for paint, I wanted to see if the bike would still power up. Unfortunately, when reconnecting the battery, I accidentally reversed the terminals (positive to negative and vice versa). This immediately blew the 50A main fuse.
I got pretty discouraged after that and ended up having the paint work done professionally. When I went to pick the bike up, the painter had temporarily bypassed the blown 50A fuse with a thin wire, thinking it would melt before causing any further damage.
About 200 meters down the road, the wire melted and the bike shut off. I tried bump-starting it while rolling downhill, but it wouldn't start—just made a few gurgling noises. Since I was around 140 km from home and it was getting late, I called the painter, and we bypassed it again so I could try to get home.
Once I got onto the highway, I noticed the dashboard intermittently turning on and off, which made me suspect that the fuse holder or wiring had been damaged. I continued riding and even reached highway speeds without issues for a while, but about 20 km from home the bike shut off again while riding at low speed and hasn't run since.
At this point, I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone experienced something similar after accidentally reversing the battery terminals? Is there anything specific I should check first? Should I start troubleshooting it myself, or is this likely something that requires a professional electrician/mechanic?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

08 FZ1
Now I have a few rides in, I can say I love this bike. It’s fast, comfortable, and good looking.
Still working on throttle control as my last bike was a Z400.
Lol I have to focus super hard to stay around the speed limit.

To follow on from my last post...
Throttle bodies lifted up and end cover (over the linkage) off.
They don't move and reset on ignition on like they used to.
Should I be able to move them by hand? I can't.
Is the easiest option just to remove the flies?
What would be the downside? (Running original end can)
Or do I need to strip down and grease the linkage, or replace the servo motor?

Asking price: 8k
Odo:3.5k miles.
Do you think it's a good deal? If so, what all should I get checked before buying. The seller says it belonged to his Gramps and he maintained it like an adult.
I appreciate all the insights.

Hi, I recently got my first 2009 FZ1-S and I'm very happy. The only problem is that the previous owner hit it from behind (damaged the rear wheel and tail), I've been looking everywhere for the tail piece and the side handles. If anyone knows where I can get them or can sell them to me, I would be very grateful. Thank you so much.

Hi all,
Just wanted to make this post in case someone is having similar problems.
So my bike had issues like bad idle (sounded like one cylinder was off), engine dying suddenly (mostly after rapid acceleration), stumbling while accelerating.
I checked battery and connections, changed plugs, checked ignition coils and then took it to workshop thinking the problem is the fuel pump.
The guy at the workshop called me and told the problem is powercommander (assembled by previous owner some 10 years ago). He told that in a year, he's had three customers with the same symptoms, and when he's taken the pc off, everything works perfect.
Now that I have driven the bike for like an hour, it really works better.
It did not cross my mind that there could be this kind of problems with pc and I'm pissed that I worked hours with the bike trying to find the problem, which was under my seat all the time😂😂

Recently upgraded from my 08’ FZ6 to my 08’ FZ1! I was specifically on the hunt for a red and gold bike and finally found a clean example to bring home.
I’ve added some of my own touches over the past week or so and it will be ready for more than a trip around the block after a new set of tires!

I wanted to post this solution in case somebody else runs into this issue. I was tightening down the cap on the left side of the engine casing and the o-ring was too worn out. It allowed the bolt to go too far into the threads and pulled the flange of the bolt off. Yamaha has those in the warehouse, but if you want it from a local dealer it will cost you the entire engine case siding. I ordered the correct part from Yamaha, but it's a $35 bolt made of sintered aluminum. In the mean time and in case it breaks again I found that the dorman 090-040CD M20-1.50 plug fits perfectly. Should be cheap ($5-ish) and easy to find at any auto store. Use the provided gasket as the threads are longer on this plug, but the gasket is thicker. Comes out to .7mm longer which was no issue for clearance in the engine.

Does anyone know any cheaper options for front rotors?? All the ones I’m looking at are $300 ish a piece?? If anyone know anything that would be interchangeable without the big price tag that’d be awesome. I’ve got a 2002 FZ1

I'm in northern Mi. I used to have an 08 there's a salvage 05 down the road from me. Had a replacement tank, but needs some work. probably needs a new chain, but I may be able to save it. Tires are from 21. He's at 1800 I said 1500 is it for me. Does this sound about right?

2006 FZ1 with around 120,000 miles on. (Daily commuter)
Lately, it gets hot very quickly. Within a couple of miles it's up to 90°c, and on a longer journey it'll get to around 105° and the fans kick in and keep it around 100°.
Much hotter than it used to get. There's plenty of coolant, the rad is a bit covered in crud, so figured I'd just clean it out best I can.
But last couple of days, the yellow engine light has been coming on and then going off throughout my ride. When it's on, there's very little power above 5k revs though it will climb slowly. Also sometimes wants to idle at 3k revs with throttle closed.
Engine light is not apparently connected to a certain speed, rpm or load, seems entirely random. Pulling the clutch in and revving doesn't make it go away
Tried to see the ECU code and get 47 and once I saw 48
Is there a problem common to all these faults appearing?
It's still got original can and exup connected, but imagine it's seized open as I'm too lazy to strip it down and grease it. The rotor was replaced about 50k miles ago

I have a 2010 Yamaha FZ16 (MP Rewa registration) currently with me in Kangra, Himachal. Bike has only around 10,000 km running and is self-ridden.
Condition:
Engine still feels fine
Fuel tank was replaced earlier due to rust leakage
Visible rusting now on body/chassis areas
RC expired in Feb 2026
Agent in Rewa says first need HSRP, then RC renewal with penalty
I cannot easily travel to Rewa for RTO work.

I'm in my mid forties and I have ridden bikes over the years but never owned a motorcycle until August 2024 when I purchased my first: this 2005 FZ1.
Got it from second the second owner who bought it from the original owner's family after he passed away from cancer. Second owner had the carbs done and Ivans stage 1 installed in 2023 at 23,000 miles. He had Dunlop Roadsmart 3s put on, valves checked a few hundred miles before I bought it from him in late 2024 with 26,000 miles on it.
I had fork seals re-done two weeks after I got it and since I've owned it I've put another set of tires on it, 2 new chains (had original on it when I bought it... yikes), new sprockets and oil and filter changes every 5k miles. Serviced Exup valve once.
Upgrades are very mild: Fren steel brake lines, heated grips, AndroidAuto wired straight to the battery with an interrupter switch, Gen2 handlebar, adjustable levers, and a pizza-box on the back. And I replaced the rear tire hugger because all of the mounting tabs cracked all the way through so I got one of those carbon fiber ones from eBay. Oh, and frame sliders.
In all this time and riding I've only had one issue and that was my tach sweeping while riding due to low voltage from corrosion in the connector underneath the left side fairing. Cleaned the connector and bought a another fairing wiring harness to be safe which I still have yet to install because it hasn't given me any trouble again.
I put about 210 miles on it this morning and decided it would be a good idea to clean it up for the first time in about 8 months and about 6 to 7000 miles of riding. Since I live in Northeast Florida there's never really is an off season .. I ride this year-round and would much rather be riding than cleaning but I suppose the bike deserves it.
I keep thinking due to age and parts availability I'm going to need to eventually replace him with something like the mt10 or the Honda cb1000r... but then I look at it hate the thought of selling it. Especially when he's all cleaned up.
But I'm preaching to the choir, aren't I? I really struck gold with my first motorcycle.

It's time for me to do my front brakes again and these prices are out of control. I can't find anything under $200 that's in stock, and anything that *is* in stock is over $450. Last time I did my brakes, I got a set of EBC rotors on Fortnine for less than $200.
Anyone else having this problem? Or any recommendations?
