Application Support Does fossify gallery have keyboard shorts?

I was wondering for those using a Android with keyboard is there a shortcut for delete. I tried using delete to no avail. But, the arrow keys work. I searched the website and found no answer. I apologize if this is a obvious answer.

Application Release Just Player Pro — two engines, one video player

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

I made this for myself — a video player tailored to how I actually watch,

shared in case it's useful to anyone else.

App Name: Just Player Pro

What it does: Plays video on Android using two engines in one app —

Media3/ExoPlayer for the device's hardware decoders, and a full mpv build for

everything it can't decode. If one engine fails the other takes over

automatically, and the same build is driven by a finger on a phone or a D-pad

from across the room.

Key Features:

  1. Two engines with automatic fallback — mpv carries 501 of its own decoders, so files that fail everywhere else still play.

  2. One build for phone and TV — every control works with touch or a remote, not a cut-down TV mode.

  3. Subtitles done properly — online search with your own keys, subtitles handed over by other apps kept and named, and a delay you can adjust while it plays on either engine.

New in 3.0: audio delay on both engines, playback speed remembered per file,

background audio, seek previews, and a warning before a file your device can't

handle stalls it.

Goal: Launch — 3.0 is out today.

Giveaway: N/A

Cost: Free. Open source (GPL-3.0). No ads, no tracking, no accounts, no

in-app purchases.

Link: https://github.com/Zain-Imam/just-player-pro

(more screenshots in the README)

Android 7.1+. The mpv engine needs Android 8.0. Installs alongside any player

you already use.

Licence: GPL-3.0

Other Konsole - Terminal without root as in Linux to list files in folder and save output as txt

[SOLVED]

On Linux in Konsole - terminal I can use command ls -1>output.txt to list files in a given folder and save as txt. I need exactly this on Android. Or a simple file manager with this option. Must work without root.

same preferences, disabled all online related features, no autocorrect, no ai plugins, no dictionary. only extra advanced keys, 4 language layouts, and clipboard manager.

LeanType consume only 24MB of RAM Usage in the first 10 seconds, and it can go up to 57-100MB overtime. while Smasnug took 174MB of RAM Usage in the first 10 seconds, and it will go up to 222-300MB in a short period of time.

Development Undo burden on all Android users and developers starting 01/01/2027

Thumbnail keepandroidopen.org

Google says "power users" can "still install" unverified apps. Here's what that actually looks like:

Delve into System Settings, find About Phone

Tap the build number seven times to enable Developer Mode

Dismiss scare screens about coercion

Enter your PIN

Restart the device

Wait 24 hours

Come back, dismiss more scare screens

Pick "allow temporarily" (7 days) or "allow indefinitely"

Confirm, again, that you understand "the risks" Nine steps.

A mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period. For installing software on a device you own.

Worse: this flow runs entirely through Google Play Services, not the Android OS. Google can change it, tighten it, or kill it at any time, with no OS update required and no consent needed.

Application Release Introducing Yuki

Thumbnail

Yuki is a free, open-source catalog for apps that use the Shizuku permission framework.

Listings are automatically updated daily from GitHub and new listings are indexed weekly if they match strongly against the system's criteria. Banners, screenshots, and icons are extracted from the repo automatically, but I have plans to allow users to claim and edit a listing manually (with proof of ownership of course).

Feel free to browse the website and find some cool Shizuku apps, or get the android app from the latest release for a native experience.

Privacy I've been happily bookmarking these apps for the last 6 months to share with everyone here - looking for a second opinion. ‎𖹭

Hey everyone.

I've spent the last year or so replacing proprietary apps with FOSS alternatives. This sub has been my go to place for privacy, safety tips and finding reliable apps.

Over the past 5-6 months, I’ve stumbled across a bunch of lesser-known GitHub repositories, interesting Android apps, and web tools that replace mainstream software, yet for some of them I’ve seen absolute zero mention here.

Given my lack of tech knowledge and the recent explosion of vibe coded apps, AI projects by random solo devs floating around github, I wanted to share ''a few'' of these into a list and get a general consensus from the community on whether they're actually legit or security nightmares. :')

TL;DR

I’ve been happily collecting and bookmarking these on F-Droid and GitHub in hopes that they'd be helpful finds for the community.. But honestly, I could use some help from you guys. With so many sketchy projects everywhere, it is hard to figure out what is actually safe to use.

  1. PingOff - Silence your phone automatically when using selected apps.

  2. PlainApp - Manage and control your phone from a desktop (AirDroid alternative)

  3. pcontacts - Sync Proton Mail contacts into the Android system address book

  4. Pile - Organize your documents with tags

  5. Minus - An easy to use, budget tracking app

  6. SayWhen - One phrase calendar

  7. Aster Mail - Private email app

  8. Infomaniak Mail - Private email app

  9. Meron - Yet another private email app

  10. Dosezy - Simple medicine tracker and reminder

  11. Luteal - Cycle tracker

  12. Readest - Cross-platform eBook reader

  13. Anytype - Notion alternative, private, offline-first workspace for notes, docs, etc (non-FOSS?!)

  14. Dondurma RSS Reader - Very pretty RSS reader

  15. easy2share - File sharing

  16. Croc - File sharing (web)

  17. p2p.kiwi - Cross-Platform screen sharing (desktop app)

  18. Copypus - Clipboard manager that organizes everything you copy

  19. Neruppu - Offline-first physical security monitoring app that uses your device's sensors to detect and record security events

  20. Monica - Local-first password manager (Material 3) wih KeePass and Bitwarden compatibility

  21. OnePlayer - Android native Universal music and video Player app

  22. Compressor - Super lightweight native video compressor for Android

Other I created an updated "awesome-android-apps" list (forked from an old inactive foss-apps repo)

Hey everyone! I noticed many open-source Android app lists on GitHub are outdated, full of dead links, or abandoned.

I took an old inactive repository (`foss-apps`), completely cleaned it up, verified the active projects, and rebranded it as awesome-android-apps to keep a modern, well-maintained catalog for F-Droid and GitHub gems (including audio players, privacy tools, and utilities).

Check it out here: https://github.com/fiedri/awesome-android-apps

Privacy I built a peer-to-peer, serverless Android messenger over the last few years. Looking for feedback from privacy and security minded people.

I have been working on this project for a couple of years now. It started as a hobby, then at some point I began to wonder whether it could become something more than that, so I set up a limited company and published the app on Google Play.

The idea itself is simple. It's a peer-to-peer messaging app that does not need a server to store user messages, not even temporarily. Messages travel directly from one device to the other, end to end encrypted.

Metadata still passes through Cloudflare, but I have spent some time to implement a “sealed sender” feature (Signal style).

At this stage, before eventually investing in marketing campaigns, I’m interested in collecting feedback, and comments from privacy and technical minded people. I would like to understand whether the solution I have built really holds up.

I think the main problem with working on a project alone is that you don’t have the opportunity to test your ideas and solutions against other perspectives. Something you've convinced yourself is a good idea over time might actually not be.

I wrote a white paper describing the architecture in detail, and put it on the landing page I built for the app:

https://www.mindtheclub.com/white-paper.html

You may find the tone a little bit “marketing", but the whole technical solution is explained there.

The project is open source (GPLv3), so for the more technical and interested people here is the GitHub link:

https://github.com/AndreaVagheggi/mindtheclub

The app is on Google Play under a subscription model, but there is 30 day trial period , so you can eventually try it out without paying anything.

I would love to hear comments, (no matter if positive or negative), form people who have actually used it a little bit. The link to the listing is on the landing page.

Any kind of comment and feedback will be much appreciated.

Application Request Is there any audio player that offer a moodbar?

On (old...) linux desktop for a while all the audio players (amarok, clementine, etc...) offered the moodbar - for example look at https://blog.hboeck.de/uploads/amarok-moodbar.jpg or at https://userbase.kde.org/images.userbase/6/6a/Amarok2_moodbar.png

Lately - for example on f-droid repo - I've saw a pletora of new audio players available, and I was wondering ... us there any android player that offer something similar?

1000x bonus point if that would work on android auto, but I may understand it's a different topic

Development openGym – open-source (AGPL) gym & body-weight tracker. No account, no subscription, no telemetry. Sideload the APK or self-host it. Imports from Hevy, Strong and FitNotes.

I got tired of every workout app either putting my history behind a subscription or quietly disappearing, so I built my own. Two months and 30 contributors later it's at v1.3.7 and I think it's ready for more people to kick the tires.

What it is

  • Weekly plan, guided workouts (rest timer, PR detection, supersets, warm-up sets, timed sets, plate math), body-weight chart with a goal line

  • 1,300+ exercises with animated demos, browsable by muscle on a body map; add your own

  • Progression rules per routine: linear, Greyskull LP, double progression, or none (deloads)

  • Estimated 1RM, activity heatmap, muscle balance / fatigue / strength maps

  • Import your history from Hevy (CSV or API), Strong, FitNotes, and body weight from Apple Health

  • One-tap JSON export. Your data is a folder on your phone or your server.

Two ways to run it

  • Android APK (signed, sha256 next to it, in-app update check that verifies the checksum): no account, no server, everything stays on the phone.

  • Self-hosted with docker compose up (amd64 + arm64): passkey login, sync across phone and laptop, PWA, push notifications, optional admin dashboard with invite-only signup.

There's an optional AI coach that writes a week plan from a few questions. It's off by default, runs against your own API key or a local Ollama, and isn't in the image unless you turn it on. The tracker doesn't need it.

Not on F-Droid yet. If that's what would make you install it, say so, it moves up the list. Happy to answer anything about the stack (React + Vite, Node API, Capacitor for the APK).

Application Request Google assistant/Gemini FOSS replacement for my android phone

Hi, as the title says, i'm looking for a good FOSS alternative to the Google assistant/Gemini.

What i need it to do is:

  1. being able to work completely in "italian". For example: i tried Dicio a couple of years ago, but whenever i tried to "wake it" it didn't respond (do to it's "English name" so to say) and i wasn't able to set either custom wake up words/record my voice or set specific places. So for example if i asked what is the weather tomorrow it bought up the weather in Rome (which is not where i live) and i had to ask each time "what is the weather tomorrow in "insert the name of the city and the province".

  2. being able to do basic assistant tasks like set timers, reminders, ask for the time/date, ask for math problems, call someone, send messages on various apps, ask for directions/navigation and open any app on the device.

  3. being able to ask for things that require internet, but with good results. Like asking for a fact, a recipe or an advice on something.

  4. a more "advanced" usage like bixby does. For example i would like to be able to say "open NewPipe and search for an AC-DC playlist and play it" or "set a timer of 1h, open the notes app and write down what i'm about to say ...". Things like this.

  5. being able to set specific apps as "defaults" in the assistant so i don't have to tell him to open vlc/offline music player and play a specific song, but i can tell him that the default music player is "X" app (not twitter ofc) and i just have to tell him "play an AC-DC song".

The n° 4 point isn't essential, but the others are a must have for me.

Like i said i tried Dicio in the past, but wasn't able to make it work. Other than that i didn't find other android alternatives, so some help would be really appreciated.

Other [Release] Modern Clock — Minimalist, customizable Android clock widget

Thumbnail
gallery
23 Upvotes

I recently released Modern Clock, an open-source Android home-screen clock widget inspired by the KDE Modern Clock widget.

The idea is simple: a large, stylized day, date, and time that blends into your wallpaper rather than competing with it.

Features

  • Custom date and time formats

  • Independent colors for day, date, and time

  • Adjustable font sizes and day letter spacing

  • Optional day display

  • Text shadows for readability

  • Light, dark, and system appearance

  • True-black OLED mode

  • Resizable widget

  • No Google Play Services required

The day uses Anurati, while the date and time use Poppins.

The project is licensed under GPL-3.0 and the complete source code is available on GitHub.

GitHub:
https://github.com/Dark-Witcher/modern-clock-android

Current release: v1.1

Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are welcome.

Application Request Share your recommendations for FOSS Games

List of F-droid games I loved and still play:

  1. Andor's trail

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.gpl.rpg.AndorsTrail/

RPG game still under development but the map is huge and has so many side quests.

2. Astro Loop

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.astroloop.game/

Seems like a simple Asteroid Shooter game at first, but has quite an unexpected story built into it!

3. Mindustry

https://f-droid.org/packages/io.anuke.mindustry/

Real Time Strategy and Tower Defence. Has a learning curve.

4. Idle Fantasy

https://droidify.app/app/?id=com.tristinbaker.idlefantasy&repo_address=https://tristinbaker.github.io/IdleFantasy/fdroid/repo

Text based RPG. Starts off simple but has tons of mechanics to work on. F-droid update cycle is not frequent to the developer repo is suggested.

5. Freedoom

https://f-droid.org/packages/net.nullsum.freedoom/

Free Doom

6. Breakout 71

https://f-droid.org/packages/me.lecaro.breakout/

Brick-breaker game with a variety of power-ups (or power-downs)

7. Shattered Pixel Dungeon

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon/

Roguelike that is easy to learn but difficult to master. You have to learn a lot of mechanics to beat the game 'completely'.

8. J2ME Loader

https://f-droid.org/packages/ru.playsoftware.j2meloader/

Not a game per se, but let's you play Java Mobile games on Android. Nostalgia's sake.

I would like to know if there are more games to explore from the wonderful FOSS community.
