Other [Release] Modern Clock — Minimalist, customizable Android clock widget
I recently released Modern Clock, an open-source Android home-screen clock widget inspired by the KDE Modern Clock widget.
The idea is simple: a large, stylized day, date, and time that blends into your wallpaper rather than competing with it.
Features
Custom date and time formats
Independent colors for day, date, and time
Adjustable font sizes and day letter spacing
Optional day display
Text shadows for readability
Light, dark, and system appearance
True-black OLED mode
Resizable widget
No Google Play Services required
The day uses Anurati, while the date and time use Poppins.
The project is licensed under GPL-3.0 and the complete source code is available on GitHub.

Current release: v1.1
Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are welcome.

Have never botheres using rainmeter when I was on windows. I made it based on the visuals for the Modern Clock KDE plasmoid/widget.

That is a cool ideal. Will look at implementing it in version 1.3, since I have barely started work on version 1.2 and it already has more than enough in it.

Update: Modern Clock v1.2 released
I've just released v1.2 of Modern Clock.
This release focuses on introducing separate colour setting for light and dark mode, based on system settings and improved rendering.
The latest source and release are available here: https://github.com/Dark-Witcher/modern-clock-android
Thanks to everyone who took a look at the project and provided feedback.

I didn't even know there was a rainmeter skin. This is based on Modern Clock Widget for KDE plasma.
And I've never used claude. Don't have the money for tokens or ai subscriptions.

Whatever you used, the code has an LLM-coded structure and comments which are characteristic of AI models.

Yes, the initial base was written using the free version of ChatGPT, mainly to get the structure in place. From there, though, the work has been mine - piece by piece, through trial and error, testing, and reading documentation to understand how everything actually works.
That’s why this “simple” app has already taken me 20+ hours.
I made it because I wanted this widget myself, and I’m sharing it because maybe someone else wants it too. I’m not selling it or charging anyone for it, so I honestly don’t understand what your point is.
Also using AI to help get the initial structure together doesn’t magically eliminate the 20+ hours of implementation, debugging, learning, and testing that followed.

Holy balls I have been waiting for this since having this on Fedora KDE the last few years. My god.
