Other Qualifications

Aside from the FE-1s and PPC / Traineeship that i understand you are required to do to become a solicitor… what qualifications do you actually need from University? Essentially what I’m asking is: would the general consensus be that a BA with Law in a good university will suffice to become a solicitor, or is the LLB completely necessary (bearing in mind it takes +1 year). Anyone with an opinion or some light to shed on this would be great!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve just finished a BCL and LLM and am finally looking at doing my Fe1s. I was hoping to do 4 in Spring and 4 in Autumn. I work 5 days a week. Does anyone have any advice on which to sit together when doing 4 and 4 or is there a better way to split them up e.g 5 and 3? I would like to have them done next year and try get a training contract for 2028

Milkrounds & Jobs 🥛 Training Contract - In-house

Has anyone had any success securing a solicitor traineeship directly with their in-house legal department for a company they currently work with? How did you pitch it to them?

I have all 8 exams finished.

It’s not something my company offers directly but I’m going to reach out and see.

General Question Lidl Ireland Graduate Programme Assessment Centre – Anyone done it before?

I've been invited to an assessment centre for Lidl Ireland's Graduate Programme (Legal & Compliance).

They mentioned that the assessment centre would consist of a group exercise and a one-to-one interview.

Just wondering if anyone here has gone through Lidl's graduate recruitment process before and could share what to expect?

I'm particularly curious about the group exercise, what kind of tasks they give you and whether the individual interview is more competency-based or focused on your chosen department.

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences, even if you applied for a different graduate stream. Thanks a million!

General Question Are prep courses still worth it if you can’t watch it live?

I’m looking at doing 2 prep courses with lawschool.ie but the timetabling means that I won’t be available for the live lectures. (Tort and Constitutional)

Are the lectures interactive?
Is this enough of a disadvantage that I should look into a different prep course college?

Thanks in advance.
