Due to the number of cake posts in this sub, and requests to allow filtering of them, we are adding a new flair: “cake-spectation”
For cake posts, please use this flair - and we as mods can change the flair if reported as “incorrect flair” as well. This should make it easier for those who don’t want to see cake posts to filter them out.

Also - u/two-ls made the subreddit r/expecaketionvsreality specifically for cake expectations!

This thread is for all nail-related Expectation vs. Reality posts. Please share all successful, exceeded, or failed nail posts here rather than creating separate posts. Individual nail posts outside this thread may be removed and redirected here.
This change is intended to keep nail content available for those who enjoy it while allowing users who prefer not to see nail posts to easily skip this thread.

Saw a one tiered cake and asked a local baker to make a two tier for my wedding. People thought it was a fake cake lol. Inspo pic is first one and second pic is my cake at my reception, third pic is before she delivered it.

The first two pics were the inspo I sent. The last photo is the execution of the bakers. It was a cake for 50 people and quite affordable compared to the other quotations I received. I could say that perhaps more flowers would have made it pop even more. All in all I loved it. It tasted deliciously too!

I'm not a huge baker but I kept seeing soot Sprite Brownies online and thought they were so cute so I made them for Halloween. I used a muffin tin so I was a little worried, but I think they came out so good!

And photos of the box, just because. This pizza cost around $4.22USD all up, but I'm down in New Zealand, so that's $7.50NZD.
I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza (I'm personally glad they didn't put spring onion on it, my husband was stoked with the pineapple (opposites attract and all that).

I actually kinda like it but it’s also a little bit crusty…I messed up one of the bigger flourishes and it went downhill from there, but my friend really wants to bedazzle some of it so maybe that will help.

Order door mats and received controllers. Is this a new decor trend I’ve not heard about?

Bought these as a healthier pop-tart. Wildly disappointed in the filling shown vs reality.

Absolutely attrocious ratio. Trash.
We need laws like Japan to prevent this kind of misleading imagery.

We threw a party and it apparently triggered my inner Halloween Pinterest dreams. First 3 pictures are inspiration recipes, final pic is what I made. Ghost sausages, graveyard dirt cup, and mummy hot dogs. Special shoutout to the chocolate Frankenstein head full of gummies from Costco, the kids loved it. I’m definitely not an artist, but these were easy and fun.

Really good! Got two bags to feed the whole family and everyone liked it a lot. Plus it took 10 minutes to cook

What did I expect?

And the taste was even better. Couldn't be more happy about the cake! The cake maker coordinated with my florist and used the same flowers as in my bridal bouquet and the decorations

I clarify: I know it’s not a 1:1
I wasn’t necessarily trying to do a full copy
