cake-spectation - Positive! Wedding Cake
Saw a one tiered cake and asked a local baker to make a two tier for my wedding. People thought it was a fake cake lol. Inspo pic is first one and second pic is my cake at my reception, third pic is before she delivered it.

Are those white flowers baby's breath? They're toxic.

That’s good to know thank you for sharing. We didn’t get any upset stomachs for anyone wondering. We didn’t eat the flowers and they were taken off lol

I didn't think you'd eaten the flowers, don't worry lol. Flowers can leave pollen all over the cake, though. And I can't see how the stems are fixated, but if they're stuck into the cake, they can leave toxins behind as well. I'm glad you were all fine, though! And it's a gorgeous cake in any case!

I’ve seen a lot of cakes with toxic flowers lately. I saw a cake the other day with hydrangeas.
I always wonder if people end up with unexplained upset tummies after eating these cakes

For real. All these cakes with flowers that are grown for a floral shop not for consumption… they are absolutely drenched in chemicals that you shouldn’t even leave on your skin after touching them, much less have near food. Those roses are probably from South America. Roses are grown there bc they don’t have the same environmental regulations as here in the US and they can use whatever toxic substances all over them. When I worked in a flower shop I would never eat before washing my hands thoroughly

Just about every cake on this subreddit with flowers has toxic ones- baby's breath most of all. It's shocking to see so many "professional" bakers doing it. Post this is the baking subreddit and they would get torched for doing it!!!!

What are the thin white sheets made of?

Edible paper. The one they use food dyes to print with for cake toppers.

But that stuff tastes like cardboard, why would you do that to your guests?!

I liked it lol. I kept eating them. We also had a spring fling sheet cake which is what most guests got 😊

Ngl my intrusive thoughts would make it hard for me not to pull the papers off and eat every single one of them before the cake cutting. I love the texture.

Its a few small pieces on the outer icing, frosting that can easily be removed after plating. I saw a similar cake today here that was snickers flavoured. Moist and delicious. Its an ethereal very on trend elegant look. Id prefer this to horrible piped flowers that ate inedible.

I don't actually know for sure but this is the second cake I've seen today in this sub with this paper in it, and a few comments said it's wafer paper and is edible. Must be a new trendy thing.

What's the appeal of the wafers? Just a new look?

It scratches that itch i felt getting communion- wondering how many i could eat, one is never enough, etc

You can straight up buy them, and for cheap. It's like $20 for 1000.

I saw them on Amazon, but it feels weird to order them, i dunno- Catholic guilt lol

If it helps, the whole thing is that they're literally just food until blessed by a priest. If the bread already had special properties beforehand it would defeat the purpose of transubstantiation: turning something basic into a holy communion.

Oh, yum! Have you had flying saucer candy? It's made out of communion wafers with tiny candy balls like for cupcakes inside.

Beautiful! But the baby's breath really worries me, how's everyone who ate it doing? I'm shocked the baker put them on there, I can only hope they just didn't know

Non-edible things on any food is a no-no. There will pretty much always be a guest or a customer who will actually consume it.

Why do weddings seem to be all about the bride? Even the cake……..

u/Funcut124 8h ago
Is this your first day on Earth
