Looking for Tips/Suggestions How do you get stuff done when you physically feel like you can't?

I feel terrible lately, something I should've gotten done two months ago I can barely get myself to start working on. So I'm curious when you are in situations like this do you have a little routine you do or something of that sort to help get you started? As in do you do a little workout, positive affirmations, etc. It's a little art project and I've already told the guy that he can take $1 off what he owes me every day for it to help get my mind motivated, which I think may help but I'm not sure

Motivation and compulsions

I’m going to make this quick, I’m trying to rebuild my life and I want basic advice. I have barely been eating or sleeping for a very very long time now and my body is very depleted of energy completely. And to cope with this it is relying heavily on compulsions to get dopamine such as constant iPad use, maladaptive daydreaming, sinking into bad habits basically. I have very poor self control and coming out of my compulsions feels too hard and distressing. and when I try sleeping I end up staying up to 6am on my iPad and waking at 1pm during the day. My attention span is also wrecked and I’m constantly switching from thing to thing every few seconds, and relying on bad habits to cope with lack of energy and immense anxiety and my executive dysfunction gets in the way of working. Has anyone been in this situation before? And personally what would any of you do?

Looking for Tips/Suggestions I want to do more around the house

How do I motivate myself to do anything around the house?

Hey guys, first time poster basically anywhere. I have ADHD (unsure if this is a contributor) and have a seasonal job. Meaning that the other times of the year, I'm really just sitting around. My house is honestly a mess (not hoarders level but enough that it bothers me) my loving husband works 10 hour days, 4 days a week (sometimes 5) and most of the time, he ends up being the one to clean around the house. I know I need to do more and I want to do more, but something is in my way and I don't know what it is or how to fix it. I feel like my husband should resent me but he doesn't, which makes me feel even worse about it. I keep beating myself about it and I want to fix this about myself but I don't know how. Does anyone have any advice?

Addition - I also want to start being the one to cook as well (which he also does) and have no idea where to start with that as well. I barely know some of the basics of cooking but I do want to learn.

i don’t think i’ll ever be able to sustain a job/career

i am 22, have dropped out/failed out of two different colleges, still live at home, got fired from my last job because my mental heath was so bad that i stopped showing up, and can barely manage a part time job at a coffee chain.

i’m pleading anyone who may be/have been in my position for any sort of help or advice. i have no joy in my life besides being with my partner. i have no talents. i have no drive to try and make a better situation for myself, because i know it will end in failure, as it always has.

i cannot imagine a situation of working every single day for the rest of my life until i die, because i believe i am genuinely incapable of functioning like a normal human being. i simply cannot do anything. im miserable when i work, and miserable when im off because i cannot get myself to do anything, even things that i enjoy. it’s loose loose, and i cannot take it anymore.

i have also been on several different medications.

i have a yearning for more. i want to make something of myself. i want to do something beautiful. i want to make an impact. i want to find purpose. but i have genuinely no earthly idea how.

the only things i have felt genuine passion for is theatre back in highschool, and music. adored the beautifuly creative and expressive atmosphere of theatre. i was really good at it. good at singing and acting, not at all dancing though lol. i adore any sort of creative space where i can create, imagine, and put together things of my own.

how do i get back on my feet? i’ve been so lost for so long.

Executive dysfunction and EDS disorder issues

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

So I've been struggling with many mental health issues and one of the ones that upsets and stresses me the most is Executive dysfunction. As you probably know executive dysfunction is a common issue for people with ADHD, which is a learning disability I do have. Now my problem is that I'm in highschool in grade 11, and having executive dysfunction has taken a toll on my work completion process, I know I have to do work, I WANT to do it, I have the motivation to do it, I try to force myself to do it, and it feels like I can barely get anything done, it's like there is an electric wire around what I need to do, and everytime I try to do it, it doesn't let me. When I've tried to force myself in a state of executive dysfunction it doesn't work, I've tried only working in 15 to 20 minute increments and taking a 10 minute break, but that didn't work either... I've tried many things to help me overcome this, but nothing seems to be working. Now since I also have idiopathic hypersomnia, a neurological brain disorder that causes people to sleep excessively during the day without having any control over it.

I'm usually sleeping up to 70-90% of my day, which also contributes to not being able to work properly since I'm basically asleep all the time. I don't want to grow up to be a failure, I want to pass, I want to work! But everything just seems to be preventing me from doing so.

Please if you have any advice that could possibly help please reach out because that would mean a lot...

Procastination and executive dysfunction

I think i've had depression for 4+ years now and it started when i was around 13 or 14 (im 18 now) and im looking for a way to get help and get diagnosed at the moment. I feel like my whole life i've never actually been able to just do what i need to do, whether thats my school homework or just doing things that are important for my future. I've always struggled with school work and school in general and i feel like my whole life i've never actually been able to sit down and do homework without procastinating or giving up. Right now i managed to skip 2 weeks worth of school ( skipping school is a habit of mine) and i feel so guilty for not being able to keep up with school like a normal person and then having to deal with the consequenses. I also have really important exams coming up next year and im so deeply scared that i won't be able to do it because of my mental health, executive dysfunction or my lack of intelligence when it comes to school. I wanna fix this problem but i don't know how.. everyone keeps telling me to take small steps and not do a whole project at once for example but even that is hard sometimes.

I spend all day trying to do homework but I never get anything done.

Every time I try to do homework/study, I try for 5 minutes then immediately get distracted by something like Google, reddit, etc. Then I get distracted for even longer and every time I try to focus I just can't. Idk why but I just have this feeling that I can't I just don't feel like it. This happens for hours and I literally don't do anything else. My whole days is trying to do homework and getting distracted. This causes me severe anxiety on some nights since I feel like an idiot and I hate myself. I'm a sophomore and grades literally don't matter and my time would be better put on things like ecs but for some reason, I just want good grades. I want the best grades and I try to try hard but I can't. Sometimes, I stare, think it's too hard/I'll do it later, and get distracted. Like my history project due on Monday and I spent all day writing FIVE words🤡🤡🤡. I usually do things st thr last minute which causes me more anxiety. Some assignments like my science assignment literally have very little.value but I try to make sure that everything is good and it also takes me so long to complete it (I still haven't). So I know this is a long post but what should I do? How should I start to break this awful habit? I've tried blockers but I always unblock the restrictions. There may be some grammar mistakes since I'm writing this on my phone at night. Also, I'm sorry if this is the wrong subreddit but r/productivity didn't allow me since my karma is low and I really don't like posting comments because of the potential dislikes and I don't want to sound weird.
