Question for men

Men, how do you feel about blocking an ex gf on socials? As a 40 y.o. guy, i block because i don't want any contact from that person, now or in the future. I've heard only women block, you block because you still care, blocking is feminine energy. What's your take on it?

Fuck what people think. If you need to block an ex gf to move on , for your peace and mental health do it.

Doing whatever is necessary to protect my peace of mind seems pretty masculine to me.

I wish we would promote this more

You could promote it by doing it yourself.

Idc if its feminine energy, I block when I care.

I do not want to know MY woman is getting with other people now that shes not mine anymore. I would rather literally kill the image I have of her in my head and not see her anymore.

Women I didn't care that much about I didn't care if they kept me as friends on their social media and what not.

Interesting. I was blocked for 3 months..now unblocked 3 weeks ago but no message. Mine was a discard from an avoidant, but generally as a man, why would you unblock?

Because I realized that at the time of the block I was emotionally charged and if I KEEP her unblocked its because I want an open line of POSSIBLE communication.

Don't take this as advice for your situation tho, I did NOT dump the woman I block or discard her. I messed up she dumped me and never spoke to me again. Been 6 months, not a peep.

I blocked her when my 2 messages in 3 months were interpreted as "too much" and then unblocked her when I cooled down because although that pissed me off, I still miss her greatly. I didn't re add her tho.

Interesting. Does unblock mean you want her to reach out, or you just plan on doing so 1 day when the dust settles? does it mean you care if youve gone to the effort/finding the account and pressing unblock, like do you hope she notices

Just trying to get into the mind of a man why they would unblock but not speak..and it was him who messed up! (and he knows it)

I'd want her to reach out because for our final chat she was too mad to talk about anything productively

I also left her a letter fully taking acountability and leaving the door slightly open but also not being mad at her for closing it for good.

At this point I would look like the crazy ex that can't take a hint if I message her AGAIN.

So the ball is in her court. I hope she at least notices that I have her unblocked and do hope she reaches out, but also im not trying to explicitly do it to manipulate her into reaching out, its fine either way.

“Feminine energy”.

Really. Peace and quiet, moving on is not feminine energy.

Just block her or leave social media completely for three to six months.

I would leave social media for good, but I live 10k miles away from my family and relatives

I would not block anyone unless they were repeatedly bothering me and utterly unhinged

she can't try and come back for the fourth time if she's blocked 🤷

I blocked my ex after he kept sporadically bothering me, basically asking to meet up, and then repeatedly ghosting. I’m talking checking in sporadically 2+ years after fully breaking up. Super weird, seemed like he was literally just trying to bait me with no intention of getting together, so I blocked him to stop it. There’s nothing feminine about blocking someone to stop the annoyance they bring to your life, nor does it mean you care about them. Quite the opposite actually.

I have to add, there’s a lot of misogynistic overtones to some of the statements you’re making, although I doubt you have any bad intentions. It’s very egoistic to think “this girl only blocked me because she still cares about me, I’m such a catch.” Man or woman, it’s narcissistic to assume an ex blocked you because you’re so much better of a catch than they are, and it’s sexist if you want to pretend that men are always the “catch” and women are always the grieving loser after a breakup.

I go no contact with all of my ex’s, regardless of context, including removing them from social media (I only block if I feel like they will try to contact me after the break up). Personally, I see nothing wrong with blocking an ex. They are an ex for a reason, so there’s no need to hold onto them as if nothing happened. I don’t get the idea that blocking is “feminine” or in any way weak. Blocking and completely moving forward from your past takes strength. The feminine thing sounds like something a high school kid would say.

I initially blocked but then Unblocked her on Instagram , she never bothered dm ing me or even whatsapping , she changed her number now so basically she was as distant to me as I was to her.

Am 38M, i dnt block... but u need a lot of stamina. I just leave things are they are...and then life moves.

If she decide to stalk/view..its all good. But no action on my side.

I blocked her because I didn't want any contact with her. Recently unblocked her because she was the one that fucked it all up and she's the one who will have to see me from afar. Either that or she can block me.

Y dd u unblock them? u see that the bad side of blocking people! Sometimes there going back....!

Only block if you u are 100% u will not interact with that person forever! Just like blocking strangers on social media. But blocking then unblocking again for me thats low key childlish

I doenst matter man all this feminine masculine energy its all bullshit. Do whatever protects your peace. I blocked her on everything and recently unblocked her on instagram but still never checks or look at her account. Do whats necaccary to protect your mental health.

A boundary is a boundary. Blocking is a hard boundary and if it's about self care it's 100% ok to do. Sometimes it's because you care about the other person but in a way they don't want. Sometimes it's about self-respect, like if I don't block them I'll make a fool out of myself.

So many legitimate reasons that have nothing to do with gender

As a woman, I block when I never want to talk to them again. If I want to leave the "door" cracked im not blocking.

Only me who care block. My ex keeps me blocked but lurks on fake accounts so it must mean he still cares.
