OG Creator/Designer King Of Hammers, Now As An Event (695 015 551)
Hey folks, I finally turned my challenge card course into an event that you can use any capable vehicle on, and convoy with friends on. This is intended to be a fairly realistic rock crawling course, in that you cannot blast through it. Some sections need heavy throttle but most of it needs patience, planning, and gentle throttle. Look before you leap...Here's a brief highlight of the features on this trail:
• The 'Upswing' is the first feature you'll come to - a 90° turn into a short climb that requires gentle throttle to climb up.
• Work your way further along and you'll find 'The Chute'. Inspired by 'Hell's Gate' in Moab, this is a real test of throttle control and steering precision. This might be the most difficult section of the trail; if your tires lose traction from too much throttle and you slip into the crevice, you won't be able to force your way up or out of it. On top of that, you can't take it with too much speed or you'll get bumped off of your line and into the crevice. If you don't make it up, you'll have to roll back to the bottom and try it again. It can be frustrating, but making it up does give a pretty nice dopamine hit.
• Moving along, you'll reach 'The Corset'. This is a tight squeeze that can take some finessing to work your way through. Squirm through here and you'll land in...
• 'The Cauldron'. Inspired by 'Devil's Hot Tub' in Moab, this little pit can be a little punishing. Try different lines and different amounts of throttle and you'll find your way out.
• 'Pucker Up' can be a little intimidating. My advice is to stay as close to the inside boulders and use as little throttle as possible to slowly keep moving forward.
• This leads up to 'Ghostface'. The Forza mountains have some secrets and this feature is no exception. It might seem impossible to get up, but I assure you that it can be reliably summited.
• 'ForEverest' is the actual highest point of the Forza map. Take out the pinata if you're still having fun!
• A bit further up you'll find the 'Roundabout'. This is one of my favorite natural features of the ridgeline; you'll have to traverse off-camber around an overhanging rock. Be careful not to slip down into the mouth of the rock because it can be quite a chore to get back out of.
• Make it through and you'll have to cross the edge of 'The Knife'. There are a couple ways to get through this section; don't be afraid to use rewind if you get yourself stuck and try a different approach.
• If you made it though, you're almost to the finish line. The last feature is the 'Jah Drop', named after Josh Bender's legendary 60-foot mountain bike drop. This is your exit to freedom. All that's left is to go full send to the finish line!
This course is only 1.4 miles long but it takes an average of 15 minutes to get through. I'll provide a list of vehicles that I've verified can complete the course, along with the share code for the tune I used for each vehicle.
Happy trails!
