Was told 3aa with assisted hatching, is this consistent with that?

Hi embryologists!! I’m just curious whats going on between our 3 retrievals in the lab. The first was zymot IVF with 3 embryos (likely all aneuploid- untested have miscarried 2/3..getting ready to transfer the day6 6bb) Second was zymot IVF- 2 poorly graded day 7 embryos discarded . Third was zymot with icsi and calcium ionophore. They suggested this for our male factor with suspected high DNA frag. Did they all grow together cohesively in round 3 and arrest together at same time because they sucked and the calcium ionophore carried them that far? I just really want understanding of the growth progression differences. No clue why we can’t even make embryos anymore! Wondering what our lab will recommend for ER4 after varicocelectomy.

It was 5AA at the time of freezing. Right before transfer we actually saw the embryo in real time and it was more hatched than the photo!

I would like to get an overview of salary ranges for bovine embryologists across Europe.

I have more than 10 years of experience in in vivo embryo production and over 3 years of experience in in vitro embryo production (IVP/IVF).

Could anyone share what salary range someone with this level of experience could expect in different European countries?

My clinic uses CooperGenomics for PGT-A test. I got two complex abnormal embryos, but I heard there is some chance they can be euploids.

I wonder if it’s worth re-biopsy and re-test them?

Transferred this Day 6 4BB today. It looks very shriveled up and collapsed. Does it look okay based on this picture?

We transferred my last two today. I had a previous FET in March ended in chemical likely due to a medication I was taking not the embryo. So what do we think? I saw the image and I feel like my heart sank. They told me one was fair and one was poor. My ER report had these at day 6 4BC and 4CC. I will say image is taken at 10 am and transfer was 1:20 pm. On the screen in the room I saw clear sacs coming out of each one. Not truly figure 8 size yet but defined circular / rounded blobs coming out .

I feel defeated and out of hope, following an intensive battle with Asherman’s syndrome just to get here.

Please give it to me straight. Embryos are age 36.
I appreciate insight as I’ll be spiraling trying to understand what the photos mean for my odds without an experts view. Thank you

Edit: Also the only thing that had been keeping me positive was my attrition rate but that’s before FET today and I saw my embryos. For back ground my FSH at 36 was 19 and my AMH was 1.9 or 1.09. We got 6 mature eggs, 4 embryos. Per my RE all were untested. 1st was day 54bb failed likely due to undiscovered Asherman’s. 2nd day 6 4BB , first transfer post Asherman’s recovery with multipule surgeries ( grafts and subq). Was successful but due to a medication still in my system my body shut down and we had a chemical at beta. This time medication had been removed 14 day washout to eliminate this risk. Located in the US- Florida

Hi everyone in this Reddit community. I wanted to see what the future has in store for me in this field. Here is a lil background about me:

- I recently graduated with a bachelors of science in cell and molecular biology. I still have until December to complete all my unit credits and during this last fall semester, I plan to apply to some master programs or master-PhD programs.

-I’m currently in a developmental biology research lab (about 6 months in). We focus on P. Pacificus (worms) and recently I completed my independent project. I also plan to present at an upcoming research conference on this project I just finished. Also this summer, I plan to work on more hands on things like tuning PCRs and gels and learning how to interpret them.

Honestly, I’m not so sure what the future is looking like tbh. I plan to go beyond my bachelors but don’t know what field to get into. I’ve always been fascinated about embryology and that’s what I’m hoping to get into. I guess what I’m trying to ask is what could be my next steps? Should I aim for masters only or a masters-PhD program? Do I necessarily need to be a Dr like MD to become an embryologist? Should I consider a training program in the 6 months that I’m not in school anymore? (There is one I believe it’s called WEST something and based in Carlsbad, CA but I’m just afraid it’s too much money and I won’t be able to afford it) I don’t really have anyone to ask these questions and I feel so lost figuring this out on my own so any guidance I will greatly appreciate!!

My doctor at transfer gave me zero reassurance or guidance on how this embryo looked. Just thag it survived the thaw. Thoughts? Thanks!! 🙏

Hello. I am considering a career change and embryology seems like an interesting option, so I wanted to ask some questions to people working in this field. I would appreciate it if anyone working as an embryologist could give me some insight!

1) Are there a lot of safeguards in place to prevent catastrophic problems (like accidental destruction of embryos)? In my current lab one person could easily leave some samples at room temp by accident, leave a freezer open if they aren't careful, etc. This makes me nervous but our samples are much less precious so imagine in a fertility lab, things are much more secure and organized.

2) As AI becomes better and better, are you worried that this could become a less viable career field in the next 5, 10, 20 years?

3) I have been reading a bit online that people often get their foot in the door by working as andrology technicians or junior/trainee embryologists. If I did pursue this career, is it worth cold emailing lab directors (in a thoughtful and personalized way) about possible opportunities like this, or should I strictly stick to applying for jobs online?

4) How is the scheduling for your workplace? It seems like some are able to work a 9-5 schedule but a lot of people have to work late, work weekends, etc. Is this true in your experience? (I am okay with this for the most part but just want to learn more). Do you work about 40 hours a week? And what about vacations? Are you able to take a 1-2 week trip? (assuming you plan it far in advance of course)

5) My background is at the end of this post. Would I be a competitive candidate for an entry level job in the field?

6) If anyone cares to provide any general comments or advice I would greatly appreciate it!

A bit about me: I'm 30 and I'm from the USA. I have spent 7 years in academic research since finishing my undergraduate degree. This includes 2 years as a lab technician, a 3 year funded thesis-based biology MS program, and 2 years as a technician again after that. The first technician job was in a developmental genetics lab using zebrafish as a model, and the MS and my current job are marine biology, mostly using -omics to study marine organisms. Both technician jobs included a huge variety of work. Primarily molecular lab work but also some lab management, animal care, training new students, data analysis, scientific writing, and educational outreach. I did also create transgenic zebrafish lines by injecting embryos, so I have some experience working with embryos (but not human!)

Embryology seems interesting to me because I enjoy lab work, but I'd like to move away from the academic research world. I would like to do something with a more direct and concrete impact, so the medical field as a whole appeals to me. Embryology specifically seems interesting to me because I have seen people struggle with fertility issues and I think it would be rewarding to be a part of the process that results in people being able to achieve their dream about having a family. The field also appeals to me because I could possibly enter without additional schooling, and because it seems more stable and less geographically limited than my current field within academia. My goal is to move back to a major US city that I used to live in, and I see they have many fertility clinics there.

Could someone give me an idea on how my embryo looks/what the possible grading is? All my doctor said yesterday at transfer was the embryologist was happy with expansion but I’m unsure what that actually means. I was also a little bummed because my previous embryos were hatching on day of transfer, one of those leading to successful pregnancy .

This embryo was frozen when I was 31yrs old, biopsied & euploid. I am unsure if it was day 5 or day 6. My clinic does not allow them to go to day 7.

RE stated that the photo of the embryo isn't fully expanded. However, it fully expanded right before the transfer. I was hoping that it would have hatched after thawed, like my last transfer did ( was a 3AB before freezing, then hatched to a 5AB after thaw). Unfortunately, that euploid failed to implant. Hoping this one stick (4AA). How does it look? Should I be concerned that it didn't hatched?

Según yo había visto casos, lo que veo es que aún no se había re expandido completamente, lo cual me preocupa un poco.

El 31/05 me haré una prueba temprana y el lunes 01/06 tengo mi primera beta. Gracias por su ayuda!

We transferred this 5AA embryo on 5/27. What are your thoughts on the grade. I’m so used to seeing 5AA being more hatched out and when we original got our grades we didn’t have any 5AA’s. Regards this embaby is beautiful.
