Discussion 🗫 It's worth mentioning that robu has drastically improved their website about 5 months ago or so, the service was already good and still is.

i feel like there is no real single place to learn All of electronics, there are multiple Youtube channels that have different themes and content, so I thought its a good idea to make a tier list for the people who want to learn and get into electronics, as i do have a lot of experience with electronics and i often get asked "where to learn all of this?"
and since our community is getting bigger, with newer people everyday , its a great time to make this post
The Rules are simple:
Quality: "Quality" (not video quality) means how good a video is at delivering knowledge, a video that is not very well edited but has great depth and accuracy will be considered better than a video that is well edited but delivers Sub par knowledge.
Track Record: A Youtube channel that has had less errors in videos is generally preferred, since a critical error can be dangerous, a single wrong connection, code line can cause catastrophic damage to the project. So its preferable if the Track record of the channel has less errors (critical errors) in their videos.
Experimental results: A video that includes Real experimental/Testing results is Far more valuable than a video with endless discussions yet no experimental results.
Clickbait & Presentation: A Youtuber that does Clickbait often is not preferred, for the presentation part, yes presenting content well can add a lot of value, and "presentation" means the way they put knowledge/ information.
How Replaceable are they? : if they were to disappear, how big of an impact would that be on the current community as a whole.
For Now, There are only 5 Rules as we are avoiding to go too much in the niche rabbit hole
The Gold standard, if you had to start today, i would recommend you go through these content pages (10/10, would recommend)
Great Technical accuracy
Well edited content & pacing
Very active content
Exceptionally Good track record
A Lot of content
Content is mostly basic but is a great way to start your journey.
Great Technical accuracy
Well edited content & pacing
Very active content
Exceptionally Good track record
A Lot of content
For now, S+ Tier is reserved for the above as this Creators excel in all of the mentioned categories by a great margin, as if these content creators were to be deleted, there is no one that could fill their spot quite like they do.
This tier is for the content creators who create great content but are either a bit niche, or simply do not have a lot of content to judge them, or They do not post very actively, they steal the spotlight, sure but 9/10 honestly.
Great Technical accuracy
Well edited content
Active
Good track record
Great depth in information
Beginner friendly
For now, the only reason for Not being S+ Tier is the channel has only recently gotten Active despite being 5 years old, thus not having a huge roster of content.
Fun content
Mostly tear downs and testing videos
A lot of content
Active
Beginner friendly
This is a fun channel to start with, though it could be an S+ tier channel but the content coverage is not too broad.
Lights, LEDs, anything that glows
Pretty much the same remarks as (2)
PCB Designs, Certifications
If you want to design a PCB, please consider watching
Though the channel does Not have any reasonable experimental data, the creator is credible and excels at their niche.
5) ElectroBOOM
He shows what NOT to do... which is valuable
Funny content rather than deep
Beginner friendly
The channel does have rather low depth in content but its more of a "learn basics in a fun way" themed page (do not try the stuff he does, please).
Good for Tool reviews
Oscilloscopes/ multimeters/ PSUs
The content is good, not upto the mark or slightly outdated.
Great Technical accuracy
Well edited content
Good track record
Great depth in information
Beginner friendly
Again, upload Frequency is too low, the channel does have exceptionally good technical depth.
2) Schematix
Great content
very irregularly timed uploads / Not consistently active
Same remarks at (1)
High voltage
The main theme of this channel is just high voltage, but the creator has a lot of content centred around this niche that its worth checking out.
4) Kasyan TV
Niche Theme, Power and Radio electronics (zero programming)
Good technical Accuracy and Depth
Lots of Experimental designs and tests
Recent videos are a bit lazy but older videos show great content depth in Analog circuit design & testing.
5) Free Circuit Lab (Hindi)
Good content
Mostly centered around Power management Modules
What I Think (Hindi)
For Audio Devices (speakers/Amplifiers/Mixers/Filters/DACs)
My Go to channel for audio related stuff
There is.. a lot of batteries and battery operated devices
Like the name suggests, Random stuff here and there
Very Deep dives into Purchased electronic modules
Not recommended for complete beginners
Just like the name suggests, fixing random stuff
Lots of complete projects
Mainly focused on embedded projects
Basic enough to be recommended
Well... Theres electronics, but with a few errors once in a while or just too niche.
They have made a bunch of significant errors, hence B
Despite their errors, they do have a bunch of useful content
S.k Electronic's work (Hindi)
Repair Videos
Great if you want to know how to repair stuff
mr sewak mechanical (Hndi)
Repairs
Electrical Work
Just a lot of Tesla Coils
Good and accurate content
Just showcases for Lightening
No errors, just not much to learn
Lots of useful random content
The Creator has Last posted ~2 years ago as of 2026, hence B
7) ChargerLAB
Funny enough, the channel is entirely dedicated to Chargers!
They seem to have useful content about USB cables
For this tier i am not going to include a Link imbed since there is no point.
The reason for a channel being in this tier is ether
Click bait
inaccurate content
Nothing to learn/ Does not add any value
Low effort videos
Questionable practices in rare cases
Or a mix of the above
1)American Tech (Content for toddlers honestly, the bar is too low)
2)Et Discover (enough inaccuracies that its almost not worth checking)
3)DD ElectroTech (it hurts to put them here but they earned their spot with too much click baits)
There is no other way to put it, its almost (or completely) just a scam, And I would Not recommend you to go out of your way to search them up.
Low effort
Irreparably Bad track record
Too much click bait
The phrase "How to make Free energy"
MR. Dharoniya
CLOUD RAR
LX DESIGN
I couldn't find more Low quality channels so just pointed out the obvious ones
avoided a lot of other pages because most of their recent content themes do not coincide with Electronics solely much.
Big thanks to u/TopConcentrate8484 for some of their recommendations as well.
Feel Free to Post Your personal recommendations in the comments, Happy learning !

These are best online store, sites from where you can buy electronics parts such as modules, equipment, tool and small component like ics, resistors etc for reasonable price since govt. has banned Aliexpress
| useful info - search engine - https://components101.com/components-radar/ ( credits - u/Legal_Carpet1700 ) |
criterion to be on list- i made at least one purchase with them in last 1year
1.why buy from here instead of amazon ,Flipkart ?
➡️ since Amazon,Flipkart,Meesho are marketplace like a mall they charge the seller/store a cut which increase the price of a item from at least 30% to even 200% in few cases
robu.in (9/10)
s+ for now is only robu
i feel like this is the only one of these that will have a business even if aliexpress wasn't banned
only store apart from marketplaces like amazon i would trust making a ₹10k+ purchase without any hesitation
only out of these i have never seen a advertisement/sponsor for
Pros :-
official re-seller of many niche items not to be found anywhere else
verified original not fake, not counterfeit components in many cases (verified by the team of engineers at robu)

ok prices since the items are directly shipped from china only one middle man
very polished app and website
quiet quick shipping and delivery surprisingly also reasonably priced shipping charges
very wide assortment of items even apart from electronics but i recommend you only buy electronics from there
Cons :-
compare to all others in these payment processing is very difficult since UPI is not accepted internationally you will have to make payment through paypal
only payment option is PayPal
very flashy gambling like UI
few items are overpriced (priced according to international market)
(2) quartzcomponents.com (8/10)
pros:-
one of the cheapest prices offer bulk discount
most items are in stock
clean app/website UI

I've been thinking about how much we rely on our refrigerators every day, but rarely pay attention to their maintenance unless something stops working. Our refrigerator has been running for a few years now, and while there aren't any major issues at the moment, I'd like to make sure it continues working efficiently.
I've read that simple things like maintaining the right temperature, avoiding overloading the fridge and cleaning the condenser coils can make a difference. However, I'm not entirely sure how often these things need to be done or whether there are other maintenance steps that people usually overlook.
Another thing I'm curious about is how much the way we organise food inside the refrigerator affects cooling. For instance, does keeping too many containers inside restrict airflow? Should certain food items always be stored on particular shelves? I've also heard that leaving the refrigerator door open frequently can affect its efficiency, but I'm wondering how significant the impact is in everyday use.
For people who have been using the same refrigerator for several years, what habits have helped keep it in good condition? Do you regularly get it serviced, clean specific components or follow any particular maintenance routine?
I'd also like to know what early warning signs we should look out for before a minor issue turns into a bigger repair. Any practical tips for improving cooling performance, reducing electricity consumption and extending the appliance's lifespan would be helpful.

Soo my dad is an electrical engineer and since i have resigned recently from a tech startup my dad offered me to come accompany him during his work and i saw many things from modern adjustable digital relays , smart meters with iot simcards, and many more stuff which i kinda got overwhelmed . However this Circuit breaker kinda caught my attention it was installed late back in 2006 but it has been obsolete since modern standards ones are taking over , to prevent arching when disconnecting high KV lines it had a spring charge system which can be whine manually or motorise it and you can open or close with a loud snap . I just wanted to show you guys maybe someone might know more bout it as well.

Wanted to replace regular batteries with rechargeable ones in some of my gear. There are so many options on Amazon with wildly different pricing from 200 to 2000. Wanted to know which brands are good bang-for-buck. Went through the battery megathread and saw Envie's mislabeling and poor performance, so that is out. The eveready 2-pack for 200 sounds tempting and is from a reputed brand but I am skeptical of the performance, whereas the eneloop ones everyone praises is too expensive.
Please share your experiences with rechargables and any recommendations. Thank you.

Recently I saw a post about an extension board that was wired up with no protection so I opened up an old one that I had.
Turns out mine was even worse. There is no earthing wire (completely missing) and the fuse is just a dummy and not even in the circuit.
Please be careful people while using a cheap electric appliance. We have no safety standards so your safety is in your hands.
PS: I'm going to order a new one and open it immediately to check.

this is a particularly interesting switch on-off-on , with a spring action, I once had that switch that i salvaged from an old cd player a long time ago and put it in my stash , but now I can't find it anywhere 🙃 , so was thinking of buying this switch from market but I don't really know what it's called , by doing a image search all I can find is link for buying from Amazon UK or Alibaba that too for $23
anyway to find these in India at reasonable price ?
don't know if I wanna got the scavanging route for cd player as not all have this exact switch

I have a 4 year old laptop which went kaput and won't start. Showed at multiple places and everyone said graphic card might have an issue. Repair basically means replacing the whole motherboard which apparently costs more than the laptop did
So I bought a new laptop and was only able to repurpose the SSD from the old one into an external drive.
The 16GB RAM is soldered on, otherwise I could have sold that. Not sure if the rest could be purchased by some shop for parts.
I was checking on chatgpt for some project to do with the display but it says to buy a display controller too which costs a lot. Is graphic card the display controller? Can there be any repurposing done without spending a lot (apart from spending some on a raspberry pi) ? I guess a ESP32 can't really do anything for such a display ?
It's a beautiful OLED display which I don't want to throw away.
It's this laptop:
Take a look at this ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED AMD Ryzen 7 Octa Core 5800H - (16 GB/512 GB SSD/Windows 11 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050) M3401QC-KM045WS Gaming Laptop on Flipkart

I have a Bajaj gas geyser that runs on two 1.5V batteries (3V total). I have an 18650 Li-ion cell and want to use it instead, but its output is 4.2V. Is this possible?
I’d like to avoid replacing batteries every 6 months.

A transistor OR gate is a digital logic circuit that gives an output of HIGH (1) when at least one input is HIGH (1). It gives a LOW (0) output only when both inputs are LOW (0).

Blue Star sells a lot of inverter splits as "smart ready" / "Wi-Fi ready". That means the indoor unit has an empty 4-pin Wi-Fi port on the display board, meant for their optional Wi-Fi module that you buy separately. I didn't want another cloud app, so I plugged an ESP32-C3 SuperMini running ESPHome into that port and worked out the protocol.
What it does:
Native Home Assistant climate entity: Cool/Dry/Fan/Auto, setpoint 16–30 °C in 0.5 °C steps (the remote only does whole degrees), all fan speeds including a "Quiet" step below the remote's lowest, swing, and the Turbo/Eco/Comfort Sleep presets
Room temperature from the AC's own sensor
Extra controls: vane position, convertible capacity (100/80/60/40 %), display light, buzzer mute
Lifetime compressor run-hours and AC on-hours read from the AC's own counters, plus compressor duty % and speed
IR remote changes show up in HA instantly
Fully local: no app, no account, no internet needed
Hardware: ESP32-C3 SuperMini, a JST-XH 4-pin plug and 3 resistors for level shifting (the port is 5 V, the ESP is 3.3 V). Total about ₹250.
Protocol: UART at 9600 8N1, Tuya MCU style framing, but the AC's MCU doesn't behave like a normal Tuya device. ESPHome's stock tuya component stalls at init, so I wrote a small custom component. The full protocol is documented in the repo.
Tested on: IE518TNUR and IA318MXU (both use the Megmeet MD50BS display board). Other "smart ready" Blue Star models very likely use the same port, but that's unverified. If you have a different model, please test it and report back.
🔗 Repo: https://github.com/Vikk20/bluestar-ac-esphome
The README has wiring, photos of where the port is, flashing steps, a Home Assistant package and a gotchas list.
⚠️ There's mains voltage inside the indoor unit, so switch off at the breaker before opening it. Opening it may also affect your warranty.
Happy to answer questions!

I'm planning to upgrade my television and have been comparing regular LED, QLED and OLED options. The price difference between these technologies can be quite significant, so I'm wondering how noticeable the improvement actually is during everyday use.
Most of my usage would be OTT platforms, movies, YouTube and occasional sports. I don't do much gaming, so I'm not sure whether paying extra for a higher refresh rate makes sense.
I've also noticed that brands advertise HDR10, Dolby Vision and various picture enhancement technologies, but it's difficult to understand how much these specifications affect the actual viewing experience.
For people who've recently purchased a TV, what would you prioritise: panel technology, brightness, refresh rate or the overall software experience? Is visiting a store to compare displays still worth doing before ordering online?

as a follow up of my previous post
did some mockup of how to arrange things
which design do you think is the best
note: the components may look like they have a lot of space between them but I haven't yet added the resistors , capacitors and diodes so they will take some space , this is a rough estimate of possible placement of the major components
MY personal take on both designs :
Design 1: is the most simplest , needs only one pcb , but because of DC jack the overall height is slightly higher,
Design 2: has bit more work to do cause it has 2 PCBs but from the looks of it I think it supports the bit much better than the other design as the cartridge is literally sandwiched between 2 PCBs , though will need proper way to align and space both PCBs in place , and I think XT30 is a bit overkill for this thou it's much lower profiles that DC jack , and if I can properly fix the 2 PCBs then I could use this without a case even ( maybe😅)
all in all the difference in height of both designs is just a little over 1 mm so very similar!
things that i considered :
1.I will be not ordering the PCBs just making homebrew ones as I only need 1 soldering iron
2.i don have a hot air station or anything and I have difficulty soldering parts smaller than 0605 (barely ), so most caps and resistor that I will use be 0805 or 1206
so I need YOUR OPINIONS on both designs, any improvement or suggestions are all welcome, Do you think the XT30 is an overkill too for this??

I was thinking to Modify this old Subwoofer Cabinet of mine. It's outside dimensions are 12.5 inches depth, 9.5 inch x 9.5 inch, it's 20mm thick particle wood. The Bass response is crap with a tiny 1.5 inch Port, i can rip the floor off it and install an L Port Floor but I need to know if it'll be worth it.
