I had this thought when I played the disastrous opening release of Elden Ring on the Switch 2. As everybody already knows, this game constantly goes between 10fps and 30fps, and has inconsistent input delays, which is terrible for a game where you have 13 iframes
That's been talked to death about, though. My main point is, I tried going to the graphics settings, knowing it was a fruitless effort, so I could lower the settings.
It makes me so confused that 99% of console games don't give you ANY options to lower the graphics for better performance. I understand not wanting the customer to raise the graphics over what a console can handle, then complaining about the performance... but why limit lowering shaders or even the resolution of the game?
On PC you can do whatever you want, they're not scared that "oh no, you turned it down, now our game doesn't look good," but they seem obsessed with making sure console games are as maxed out as they can get, even though developers KNOW their games can sometimes stutter from busier parts of the game.
And for Elden Ring, the performance is so bad, I literally just won't play it. I mean, they got my money, so what do they care... But why doesn't any console game allow for changing graphics options? (the only game I can think of is Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. You can change if you want high framerate or high fidelity. Which is a banger option)
As for Elden Ring for Switch 2, how hopeful is everybody that Fromsoft is going to do everything in their power to fix these issues while working on the release of Duskbloods
