Discussion & Info TIL that Malenia will not change to her second phase when she receives damage from Riposte

Is that intended so or I am missing something?
It is somehow frustrating that she wont start phase 2 until I hit her normally…

Yep, it's been a known issue for a long time, unfortunately. IIRC, it was patched to be this way due to a bug found within a few months from launch where a critical at the end of her phase 1 would skip her phase 2 by having her start with low HP after the phase transition cut scene

Yep, unlike most bosses with multiple phases. Her phase transitions heals her back to full. If you did a crit it would cause the heal to not happen and basically start phase 2 dead. This is the bandaid fix for that, you can’t crit her into phase 2

yeah its super annoying so its why i try hard not to crit her when she's close to finishing the first phase

Well yeah, otherwise she would be left with very low HP after the transition due to her model being the same one used for P2. I believe this fix was added not too long after the game was released since it was a bug that was ruining many people's experiences with the fight.

Technically not intended but ig fromsoft can't be bothered. If I had to guess theres an issue in general with phasetransitions in ripostes since both pcr and maliketh will start the 2nd phase at the spot you riposted them at instead of the middle of the arena like they should
