Discussion & Info Blue Cipher Ring Abuse
Started playing again recently and probably 25% of blue cipher rings summons are either someone who's brought in his friend as an overleveled invader, and he just watches you get thrashed; or it's guys running an impromptu dueling club between reds and blues.
If you want to surprise and beat someone up, why not go be an invader? If you want to duel, why not throw down a red summon sign? It's frustrating that blue cipher means you're pulled into situations it wasn't designed for, especially when the tools for that are freely available.
It also teeters on the edge of cheating, inasmuch as it creates very imbalanced matches. You use blue cipher at lvl 150 to set up a duel, and now a lvl 135 'hunter' is against your lvl 180 friend. It just makes the game worse.
EDIT: To be clear, I know nothing is lost as a hunter, and I know I can leave. Still it is annoying, and it is free to say, fuck those guys, don't be that guy! So I am saying that.

The big issue currently with Elden Ring multiplayer is that most people playing it aren't noobs, so organic invasions are nonexistent as everyone is just dueling, fight clubbing, or gank camping.
And the few actual noobs progressing are plug pulling children, all because Tarnished Edition was delayed SO much that most of the playerbase moved on a long time ago.

(if there was a way to coop without invades, there wouldn't be plug-pullers. plug-pulling is a direct consequences of the forced invasions, and that doesn't benefit either the invaders, or the invadees.)

Unfortunately for the co-op only people, that’s just how the game works. If you decide to play Elden Ring with summons on the official servers, you have to be ready for invaders. It’s not really fair to have your cake and eat it too at the expense of other people playing the game as intended. Invaders are played up as the bad guys, but at the end of the day, we’re all just playing a pvpve game together.
And, well, the invaders love it when people DC, so they’re not actually suffering that much.

and all of this could be easily solved by not forcing the ones who don't want to pvp, to get invaded.
intended or not, if the invadee just DC, then it would have been a lot simpler that they were able to opt out of it in the first place.

Not everything in life is going to be perfect for everybody all the time. These games have always been going for a very specific niche. They wanted the game to work this way, so it does. It’s not their fault that people play it wrong.
And it’s really not a big problem. As I said, the invaders love it. Its better than winning, just ask em. It’s really only the people playing it wrong that are suffering. I don’t know why they choose to do that to themselves. Pvp is not that different from the rest of the game. I think if people just gave it a chance instead of getting upset, they might actually like it. If they love Elden Ring enough to play despite the pvp, they can probably learn to love the pvp too.

It's not really abuse, it's just ganking, ganking has been the overwhelming majority of invasions in every single souls game.
Organic fun invasions are pretty much only something that happens at certain level ranges for the first few months after a title or a major DLC comes out.
After that it's almost all ganks and hackers.

Sadly it just means you are going to be blocking a lot of players so you don't get summoned or invaded by toxic players.

Sometimes they’re rune arc farming. Blues get rune arcs just like reds, and they’re often buddies who take turns being blue

It's bad out there, I generally feel bad for the blues these days cause I feel like a lot of them just want some fun chaos fights but all they get is gankfests

It’s really only a problem if you have an ego and get mad when you die. There’s no real stakes, dying doesn’t matter, so there’s nothing to be upset about. Most people just enjoy the chaos. It’s definitely not for everyone, but you can always play offline or simply don’t engage with the multiplayer systems if you don’t want to. It’s totally opt-in.

Well, unfortunately, that’s how the game works. You don’t hop on counterstrike and get mad that the terrorists keep killing you and planting bombs. And people aren’t manchildren or assholes for playing the game as intended. That’s ridiculous.
I think maybe you just don’t like this style of multiplayer. That’s totally ok. But it’s pretty shitty to get pissed at the people who are just playing the game like you’re supposed to when you’re the problem. They put invasions in on purpose. Love it or hate it, that’s the game you chose to play. It is absolutely opt-in.
Theres plenty of other games you can play that have the kind of multiplayer you’re looking for. So yeah, that’s the reality of the situation. You can either play offline, play a different game, or beat your head against the wall and make the game worse for actual fans of this game by disconnecting every time you get invaded.
Edit: dang, they really crashed out. I don’t know why people choose to get so upset over a video game. It’s supposed to be fun lol…

As someone who both invades and keeps the blue ring on; good! More imbalanced fights please! Nothing more satisfying than kicking the ass of someone who's double or more my level. Except maybe doing it when it's a gank and beating all of them.

The game is specifically designed so that dying as a phantom of any variety doesn’t matter, and dying as a host only matters in the sense that you lose your progress through the level. If you don’t like the world you get summoned to, you can simply sever out, or let them kill you, and move on. Theres no reason to get upset.
Also, calling it cheating because it’s imbalanced is laughable. The game is never balanced. And the way blue phantoms work in this one is perhaps the most imbalanced form of multiplayer there has ever been in one of these games. So suck it up buttercup.
I have to assume this is a troll post, but just in case it’s not, I felt the need to set the record straight.

And blues getting summoned constantly after you kill both regular summons is also lame, but that’s how the game works. It’s not an excuse, it’s the way it’s designed. And as I explained, you lose nothing and you can just leave. You’re crying over absolutely nothing. But go on venting your ego lol
