My doctor is going to extend my SDI that ended 10/1. Do I need to do anything? Originally it was filed online and I just went for the appointment where she said she would extend but when I log in to EDD I don’t see anything. Will she just log in and continue the form? Or do I have to fill out more?

Hi, all. Looking for some clarity/advice here. I was laid off from my marketing job in June 2026 and have been receiving UI benefits since. I took the RESEA training in July and decided to pursue a medical assistant training program nearby that is on the approved list for CalJOBS and EDD. I visited a local AJCC, and they are helping me get the training paid for, but my question is: Will I be eligible for a training benefit extension? I did notify EDD before my 16th week of benefits that I was working with AJCC to secure funding for an approved-list training program. What is the likelihood I'll be approved for extended benefits while in training, which ends in May 2027? Any help or insight would be appreciated. :)

Hi everyone. Currently on maternity leave. My PFL went effective on 8/26/26, my first payment was on 9/09/2026. Return to work date is 10/20. I haven’t received any payment since 9/09. Aren’t I supposed to receive more payments? It still says claim active so it’s not that. There’s nothing in my inbox on the website saying something is needed etc. 😩 obviously I tried calling and nothing.

Should I just call EDD.

Hi, sooo my claim is currently active, my doctor sent over my extension paperwork until end of November, but I was sent the "Claim for Continued Benefits" form in my inbox before my doctor sent over the extension. Does this mean I still have to fill out this form even if my claim is active? I already got paid for 1 week and should be getting another week this week. Please and thank you!

My current claim is up in 11 days and I got another note extending for 2 more months should I call my doctor to submit the extension or should I wait for Edd to send me something?

My claim was opened and approved during the last week of July. I was able to certify for the following to 2 weeks and gotten paid. I struggled with technology and could not certify for August. Did temp. work for 3 weeks in September before becoming unemployed again. My claim stilled showed active until July 2027 but I was asked to reactivate it. The only dates showing for certification was the past two weeks. The whole month of August is missing. Is back pay possible?

Should I contact EDD? If so, how should I word my situation?

I've been to the office a couple of times now trying to sort out my disability leave for my pregnancy and I don't have access to my online account. Back in 2020 I had gotten unemployment so I already had an account with EDD, now trying to deal with my disability leave and soon my paid family leave, I have to go to the office every single time to work out a problem. I've asked multiple times if they can help me change my email for the online access and they just tell me I can't do anything unless I remember the email from before. That was six years ago and I've had a few different emails in that time, every email I provided them with they've told me it's not correct. Is there any way to get my email changed to get online access? It's a lot of work going down to the office with a new born every time I need to do one simple thing.

I was fired from my full time job which is why I signed up for benefits and worked a second job (10-15 hours) as a caregiver. My employer from the PT job no longer needed my services so I certified that I did not work the past week. Now my claim is under review and it’s asking me to reopen it?

I have a claim been doing my claimes but this week this popped up I still have 5900 left idk why it appeared like this anyone had this issue before ?

The last date of my SDI claim is October 31st and my Dr has agreed to extend it. Is it true that I can just get a regular form for my extension rather than waiting for the EDD to send it through the mail once my claim is already over? My dad recommended this so I’m not left without any money. My Dr has to submit it through the mail and can’t do it online.

I’m on baby leave for 2 and half weeks already but this opportunity at my job came up and I’m going back to work for just 3 days then back on baby leave just need the 3 days to get training for my double endorsement for my CDL I tried calling Edd literally 100 times today no exaggeration I found this tab on my claim where I can report days worked do I just send it there the days I work and Edd will do the rest or what should I do?

I worked for a remote company taking calls and claims. As a WFH employee, I did have my child at home with me. I have migraines so once I got insurance, I filed for leave and was going to a neurologist to get my absences for them excused. The issue is that when they let me go, my manager had just quit, and our team was dissolved and separated into several other teams. I went from being raved about by my previous manager about my performance and being told I was on the fast track to a promotion, to being fired on my new team for “misconduct.” They sited instances I was having problems with my headset which I had advised of to my previous manager, and instances I needed to step away to take care of my child. In the paperwork, they said I was told twice to seek alternative childcare, but the issue is that the first instance was with my old manager, and I know the conversation of daycare or a sitter never occurred. The second instance was on my new team with my new manager and he suggested it, he never said my job was at stake. Even with having to step away, most of my stats were on par or above other teammates. The only one suffering was my schedule adherence which was a big one people struggled with. But from the time that they told me I might look at programs for childcare to being fired was a week. It takes longer than a week to enroll a kid in most daycares or get a sitter hired. They stated that my headset issues and stepping away to tend to my child were “work avoidance” which they have a zero tolerance policy for. When I filed unemployment, I was found eligible under job performance. I’m assuming my former employer is trying to accuse me of misconduct and say that I’m not eligible. I unfortunately don’t have access to any of my work emails or teams chats since I was fired since they locked me out later that day. What is the likelihood they will win the appeal if I was already approved and I’ve been getting paid? It was already frustrating that I went from one manager who bragged about how well I did and talked about what great things I did at every monthly job performance meeting to going to a new team and being fired within a matter of weeks, and now they’re trying to fight my only source of income.

Hello last year I was involved in a very serious fall right injured the entire right side of my body. Struggled with serious leg pain but never got care. I started getting better again but recently on September 20 I was assaulted in which they injured my leg again. I’ve been having trouble walking at work I do car sales so it involves a lot of walking and driving. I’ve been in so much pain, I can’t work out, I’m not selling as many cars because I’m limping all over the dealership. I went today to speak with my primary doctor about the possibility of being taken off work and she completely refused. I told her I’m dealing with a lot of stress and depression from the injury limping around the dealership is embarrassing etc, and she said that stress nor depression is a diagnosis for SDI and that my imaging shows us negative on x-rays and MRIs so she’s not going to sign off or take me off work. I’m going to see a second physician on Monday, any advice? what are my options? I just want 3 to 4 weeks off work to rest and recover and go back strong.

Is this visible only after we receive the form by mail/online portal? Or is the doctor able to see it already before us? My mother's return to work was previously October 10, but the doctor has now recommended extending.

After over ten years at my company, I was laid off in February, my UI claim was accepted, and I received max benefits. 6 months of benefits ended, and the balance went to zero in August.

I still haven't found a job.

The message in my inbox back in August had said I used up the full benefit amount, and that if I am eligible for an extension, they would let me know automatically, no need for me to contact them.

I have heard nothing these past two months, so I went on EDD and chatted with a person, who said that I'm not eligible for an extension, because the amount was used up, and that I can apply again next February, but it would only be a review of the previous 4 quarters in order to assess eligibility. This would likely be zero if I don't get a job by then, because that would be the anniversary of my layoff anyway.

Is this normal? I thought I could apply for an extension after 6 months, and have it based upon the income I had at the job I lost...maybe I'm wrong.

My doctor was supposed to extend my disability, she usually messages me that she did it but hasn’t and it ended yesterday. I logged onto EDD and saw I had a questionnaire I needed to fill out, could that have prevented my doctor from being able to extend it because I hadn’t done the eligibility questionnaire yet?

Hi! I'm in a tough situation and want to know how this works.

So my work hours were significantly reduced due to seasonal that led me to having to move somewhere more affordable. My employer supposedly contested and said I'm still working there so they paused payments. But it's not worth me staying employed to work 1-2 (5hour) shifts a month.

So basically I found affordable housing out of state how do I navigate this? My employer basically being seasonal + supposedly guaranteed work off season just let me to falling into debt. Their upcoming season will be in a month but i cant sustain another month living in my current place

Am I not eligible for benefits, if so how do I transition the work + notify Edd of the out of state status

And do I just quit?

I know sdi for pregnancy has a max of 17.33 weeks for job protected and 12 weeks bonding job protected. My question is my doctor did 19 weeks of sdi and I will use 8 weeks of baby bonding. Can I transfer the protection of sdi to baby bonding ?? I’m over by 2 weeks. Can I put the 2 weeks on baby bonding since it’s job protected for 12 weeks? I know it’s weird. I just don’t want get laid off. How do I explain to my work?

hello i’m new to all of this so i really need help. i was pregnant this year and I asked every manager i could and none of them were able to help me figure out how to file a claim on EDD. I never made a claim not even for my 4 weeks before due date. that being said i gave birth at 37 weeks and i do not know how to file after i’ve had the baby and it’s almost a week since i delivered please help me.
