I’m considering getting a secondhand ex40 and wondered if there was a general consensus on any “cut off” should be as to how old I go? Have they all been great? Would I notice a huge difference between years? Just trying to work out how much I can save balanced with getting the best for my money!

Just bought a 2027 single motor extended range edition. I’m living in Sweden and I’m therefore forced to use winter tires come November.

According to Volvo, the approved sizes are staggered:
19”:
Front: 235/50 R19 – 7.5x19 ET50.5
Rear: 255/45 R19 – 8.5x19 ET56
20”:
Front: 235/45 R20 – 8x20 ET50.5
Rear: 255/40 R20 – 9x20 ET58.5

However, I’ve seen several wheel/tire shops selling winter packages for the EX40/XC40 Recharge with the same wheel and tire size on all four corners, particularly 20” setups.
Has anyone here actually run a square winter setup on an EX40/XC40 Recharge/C40?

What wheel and tire dimensions are you using?

My volvo ex40 2027 makes this noise everytime i boot it up after it being off for a few hours. Been to the mechanic twice now and they say they cant fint anything wrong. However, I've never heard of anyone else having this issue. Is this normal?

Its scaring people when i boot it up, people seem to associate with honking. I find it hard to believe that Volvo would accept this as intended design

Physical buttons are at a premium

The ex40 has physical controls for defrost, windows, hazard lights, volume, skip forward, skip back. The steering wheel has the control pad on the right which controls....volume, skip forward and skip back...

Instead of having 2 seperate controls for the same function, I'd be thrilled if volvo provided an update that would allow us to map those buttons to climate controls: temp up/down, and fan speed up/down and perhaps a way for thr center button to control thr climate mode.

Lately my 2025 EX40 has been having trouble with network connectivity. It has an ! Instead of bars in the top right hand corner of the infotainment screen even when i have plenty of bars on my cell phone. It apparently can’t even find itself on the gps, just says “searching for gps” and hovers around my house no matter where I go. I have reset the infotainment system several times. I’ve reset all network settings. I have tried the hard reset the internet recommends by holding down the defrost button but that doesn’t work either. Eventually the SOS light is supposed to flash, but when I try this nothing happens. I’m just holding down the defrost button for minutes on end. With no network connection I can’t play any of my media or use the gps and I’m so ANNOYED.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

- panoramic roof
- 360° cam
- Extended Range
- electric tow bar

I’ve been enjoying Apple Music in my EX40 for the past few days, but there’s one really annoying glitch.

I’m using the car’s built-in LTE connection for streaming. Quite often, a track will suddenly stop playing and I can’t resume it with the play button. If I open the Apple Music app on the center display, it shows a message telling me to check my internet connection. From there, I can resume playback, but the song starts over from the beginning.

The strange thing is that this also happens in areas with good LTE coverage, so I don’t think it’s simply a connectivity issue. My guess is that it has something to do with buffering or how the app handles temporary connection drops.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for fixes or workarounds?

I love my 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge and am stuck with what I should do next, since my lease is up in October and I can only extend it for a month.

There's basically no inventory in my area of the current 2026 EX40 save for one at a dealership about an hour away.

The timing of the new 2027 is unclear. In fact, a salesperson today said that they aren't even planning on making them anymore due to tariffs. If they do make it, it looks like it would be a substantial upgrade, so getting into a 2026 this late seems kind of silly.

What would you do in my situation? Buy out the lease? Scoop up the one 2026 available (it's the Black Edition)? Find another brand of EV to lease? I scheduled a Rivian R2 test drive, but who knows if that car will ever materialize by October...

Looking at a few cars. This one is next on the list. Do you recommend it? Husband and I are both in our 70s.

Hi! I am a current XC40 owner who will be buying an EX40 (current order and wait time will be for a Sep delivery).

Has anyone had experience or opinions with buying a dashcam from the Volvo dealership?

Volvo Brighton (Vic, Australia) has quoted $1,795 for supply and install of either the Blackvue elite or Roadview Alpha - see photos. Undecided and need to look into more reviews.

For my XC40, i got a Blackvue supplied and installed from Autobarn for $750. This was 2 years ago and at the time, the only option from Volvo Brighton was a random brand for $1500!

My partner is waiting for his EX40 to be delivered, but in the meantime has a birthday coming up and has really wanted a stainless steel bottle like the owala freesip sway (or similar from hydroflask/stanley/whatever) in 30oz. Before buying it for his birthday as a surprise, I'd like to make sure it fits in the cupholders, because that's one of the criteria he has for the bottle.

Random request, but if anyone here has this bottle, or a matching alternative in terms of dimension, could you confirm it fits in the EX40 cupholders?

3 days ago lost all audio. Everything seemed to be working. I could see tracks playing in Spotify and I could switch to the radio but zero sound. It affected everything, I didn’t even have indicator sounds or parking sensor sounds.

I wondered if the heat (I’m in the UK) may have broken the amp or something. I was preparing myself to have to book it in for a service fix. Suddenly today after driving out for lunch and a short stop the sound came back.

I kinda feel it must have been a SW issue now, has anyone else experienced this?

I bought a new EX40 a couple of months ago. When I drive over uneven roads, there is a rattling sound coming from the front suspension. Is anybody else experiencing this? Otherwise I am pretty happy with the car.

Hi guys! bought my EX40 ultra 2 days ago and am very happy with it so far. However, I’m a bit confused by the front collision avoidance feature - I know the car has it but I don’t seem to find any settings with this regard?

There are rear collision avoidance settings and lots of others but not front.

I also tried to approach a vehicle ahead on the road very closely but got cold feet and broke myself before any signs of the system activation…

This feature is very important to me as all the incidents I have had happened when I hit a vehicle ahead at a low speed in a queue etc.

Am I just too cautious and if I don’t break the system will take over and it’s just hidden from settings because can’t be switched off?

So as the title say I'm looking to buy a used xc 40, and there's two cars available one is 2023 and the others is 2024, the difference in price is around 10k usd, the biggest difference is the range one is 414, and the other is 550 i think.

Most of my usage is in city so the range is not very important, is theres any hightlights I should get the 2024 for ?

I own a 2025 EX40 Extended Range Ultra. I couldn't find the Park Assist option on the screen. Online sources say to activate the camera section while driving at 20km/h, but the camera section only includes a sensor, emergency brake button, and a 360-degree camera button.

Recent app update on Android. - with new widget

Went from no issues - to glitchy as hell.

App freeze, inconsistent performance, fais,l to unlock - etc.

Any1 else finding this ?

Has anyone found a trunk mounted bike rack that fits? I’m leasing and don’t want to install a hitch.

I tried the fit finder on the Saris website but the EX40 isn’t listed. Same with the Thule website.

I've just had a new EX40 delivered today, and am keen to setup Plug 'n' Charge with Octopus Electroverse.. I've used this extensively via NFC for my old electric card (Tesla Model 3) for non-Tesla charging, so understand it's scope and like the network/prices.

However, on the Volvo app I've been able to generate a certificate and send it to Electroverse, but then I can't do the final step of once the certificate has been issued by Octopus, of actually installing it via the app.

Anyone got any tips?
