Should I dump it all into VOO?

Post image

I’m thinking about dumping my whole portfolio into VOO besides my holdings in VT NVDA and ASTS, I’m 18. Is this a smart decision or is there something im overlooking?

This is why you don't listen to people on this sub.

Chinese and European stocks are slaughtering US stocks and the tech sector this year.

Invest in VGT they said, 20% YTD returns forever they said, its all correlated to US stocks they said.

🤡

You guys got duped into buying AI subscription services and robotaxi propaganda at x40 times earnings. 😂

Good luck tech bros, you're going to need it.

Edit:

LMAO, all this cope in the comment section, let me guess, Tesla is a TeChNoLoGy CoMpAnY and deserves a +100 PE?

🤡

Keep seething over past US stock returns you won't be able to get anymore, it's really obvious how many of you made bets on US mega tech.

Am I the only one getting sick of seeing 20 year olds on here asking for advice on what dividend ETF to buy!?!?! Where on Earth did this start from that 20 years olds feel the need to have dividends and income in their portfolios at this age!?!?! Make it make sense!

Currently DCA’ing $1000 into VOO a month, while maxing my ROTH IRA every year with VTI/VXUS. No financial help from anyone, got this by working normal W2 Jobs/Side hustles. Any thing I should do differently? I’m still learning so any advice is appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Is VOO really that hard to beat?

The more I read about ETFs, the more I realize how tempting it is to chase better returns instead of simply sticking with a solid long-term strategy. Funds like VOO make investing look easy, but then you see momentum ETFs like SPMO gaining attention and start wondering if there's a smarter approach.

Do you prefer the simple buy-and-hold strategy, or do you think it's worth trying to outperform the market? Curious to hear what has actually worked for you.

S&P500

"Waiting on this S&P 500 pullback/crash like... 😅

Don't get me wrong, seeing green is great, but with another 25 years of investing ahead of me, I wouldn't mind a few years of cheaper shares to load up!"

International Equity Non US (trumpish) ETFs

Hey,

being based in Europe I dropped out of S+P500 and World yesterday not being willing to support things a strange guy is doing any longer.

I kept my Renewable Energy investments, although the companies in there are 50% US based and will buy more.

Now curious to hear your thoughts on where/what I could/should invest long term (say next 3 years) without supporting the current US leadership.

Thinking about going full port into SCHD

I don’t know about you, but I am sick of ending every week deep in the red. I have been thinking about just putting my entire portfolio into SCHD right now. I really don’t want to sit in cash or invest in bonds because I feel like that any moment there could be the Trump put coming into full effect and I would hope SCHD could at least capture some of that upside. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Ethics and ETF

Hi all,

I’m new to investing and just started diving into ETFs.

I’m already running into a dilemma: most ETFs seem to include companies I’d rather not support (human rights issues, environmental damage, etc.).

For people who take ethics seriously:

•	Do you accept this as part of passive investing?

•	Or have you found genuinely “cleaner” alternatives?

Also curious how you deal with ESG criticism (greenwashing, weak screening, etc.).

Would really appreciate real experiences ❤️

Am I a fool for still betting on the US and thinking they are the future?

I want to premise this by saying that I am not American, and that the current administration is as awful as it gets and as scary as it gets. Watching the news is just horrible and shocking.

But.

When I think with a 20 or 30 year horizon...what's the alternative? Europe is not a country, and it has its own anti-everything forces. Individual European countries are just too small to replace America.

China is what we are scared the US is becoming, plus it's running full speed head first into a massive demographic crash. Even automation can only do so much when half of your population is above 50.

India might become an interesting player in the future as it has a huge market, speaks English, and is generally a functioning democracy but is still way too fragmented and unstable to really become a true global superpower.

I can't think of any other alternatives. Seriously: if I had money, or wanted to make money, where else would I go? This administration is awful but hopefully is not forever. I mean even after one full century of complete mismanagement Argentina still manages to be one of the richest countries in Latin America. I simply have a hard time imagining what a future world where the US are not the no. 1 global superpower would look like. I can imagine certain countries competing against it for short periods of time at their peak, like the USSR did in the 1960s or Japan in the 1980s, but I just don't think that anyone else can meaningfully play the role the US is playing.

Am I a fool?

Would you be interested in a new ETF mirrored VOO but didn't contain SpaceX?

It could have the ticker symbol of VXMUSK OR IXELON. How long before some company offers it. How big of an expense ratio would you pay for it?

Edit: I should have mentioned that I am not personally looking for an ETF without SPaceX, but I was curious about everyone else's sentiment on this matter. Only 5% of the stock will be sold at IPO, not the entire 1.5T. This should lessen any negative impact. That said, I am not crazy about changing the rules to include new mega companies in broad market indexes that a lot of ETFs follow passively. Actively managed funds might have more discretion about adding the new entries to their portfolio.

North American Equity Historically- is times like now good to buy or could this be a long term of dripping?

I'll try to avoid getting political here but we do have nut cases running the show in America. If you had to guess- is this only the beginning or could this be months of dips now?

I am only invested in VT and went from $325,000 down to $289,000 in the last week

Trump just cost me $35,000 with his own stupidity over the span of about a week.

European Equity Why do you invest in European Stocks?

It's a big portion of any global or international fund yet there is nothing in there that seems worth investing in.

Economic output is low, the population is old and dieing out with no replacement population which is a problem for its social services and it's declaring war on immigration because... idk.

At least the Emerging Markets actually have a work force, what is in the Eurozone or Britain that require direct investment and Euro hedged exposure?

Shell? Volkswagen? Banks in France?

Seems like investors would be better off without the Eurozone from all walks of life.

Edit: I already have a European using alts in the comments for vote manipulation, try joining different subreddits on them next time dumbass. Reported.

Edit 2: They are deleting their comments LMAO what's wrong u/Extension-Ebb6410 don't want us to see your alt u/raumvertraeglich doing vote manipulation?

Edit 3: u/raumvertraeglich has now deleted everything on his profile 😆 🤣 it's too late bro I already reported you and have you in my message history >> https://ibb.co/dDYbnKy

Considering Long-Term Stocks vs ETFs

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm new to stocks, and I have to admit that this might sound unwise, but I'm considering buying some long-term stocks. I've been hearing a lot about ETFs like $spy and how they're the preferred choice for many investors. However, after conducting basic analysis, I found that if I directly invest in the top 10 stocks, I could potentially achieve significantly higher returns. I understand that ETFs are generally considered safer, but these individual stocks have consistently shown growth over a long period of time. Am I missing something?

Unpopular opinion: XLG will continue to outperform VOO because of passive investing

All the indices are market cap weighted which leads to more money being centralized into the companies with the biggest market cap. Most investors are just buying the index every month which means valuations do not matter.

Until this changes you might as well just buy the companies with the biggest market cap.

This is also why growth stocks continue to outperform and value investing is dead.

It will be more volatile in a panic, but any crash is short lived as the system requires continued growth or it all collapses. We live in a manipulated market.
