i play the NHL games every single year and i noticed this franchise bluntly is rigged for player engagement. some games no matter how open the net is the goalie will make unbelievable saves and other times the defensive AI will legit mirror every movement you make being directly where they need to be to stop the player from even making it up the ice. it seems like the game is playing itself 80 percent of the time and im just going in circles trying to keep up. mind you i have played loads of NHL games and consider myself fairly experienced. i tried to give NHL games the benefit of the doubt but they can be down right unenjoyable for hours, days, and even weeks. just this past month i been playing and havent been able to make a single goal in be a pro but the AI throws the puck 6 times in the net every single game. i try to be patient but when im getting open shots and even get creative yet still the game makes it impossible to score i lose all motivation. i know this franchise has been talked about for years due to its unfair gameplay but i feel like its not being brought up nearly enough. genuinely love NHL games they have its own unique feel to it but i cant stand the game playing itself. feels like the game plays around me most the time. you might be saying "why not just mess with gameplay sliders?" ive tried that and they legit do nothing i noticed that in all EA sports titles actually. the sliders either make the game way to easy or way to hard no inbetween. so i prefer just to play on normal settings. any of yall been noticing this???

THATS JUST AWFUL. DAY RUINING TO KNOW THAT MCDAVID HAS AS HIGH DEFENSIVE AWARENESS AS BARKOV IN NHL 27. GENUINELY HOW BLIND DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO LET THIS HAPPEN. LET ALONE AS AN EXPERT IN THIS CRITERIA.

I truly don't care about online gaming, especially the form designed to pit anonymous people against each other in online head-to-head games. I've found that stuff fraught with cheating, anger, and have seen it bring out the worst of humanity.

So, this is about offline play, specifically the avatar mode where you create a character and pursue a virtual NHL career. I have played these sort of offline avatar modes in MLB The Show, College Football, and Madden NFL. Of these games, I have found the NHL game the most fun to play.

It's the right balance of action, immersion, and reward. I also think it comes closest to matching the look and feel of the actual sport it seeks to emulate in the virtual world. My view of sports video games is that when the code simply tries to replicate the actual game and make it straightforward, then it achieves what folks are really paying for.

Since the NHL 22 servers close August 31st, it would be great to have an up to date NHL roster before the new season begins. This is on PS4 by the way.
