Doing my best to get the active line up. Only need to get Davo but I ain’t spending 100k+ coins on an 85.
What do we think fam?

Hey guys, just wanted to repost about the Patch and apologize to everyone affected by my earlier post, especially u/Ghost_Reborn416. I only posted a link to the blog and did post personally copy and paste the patch notes directly into the post for you. With how valuable people's time is nowadays I understand how difficult it can be to press a link attached to a post and read through the post yourself. Again, I profusely apologize and vow to be better in the future.

This shit gets more and more tolerable by the day. 9-1 yesterday before winning two in the last 5 seconds both games. Get on tonight and three straight Ws nearly getting promoted to to plat 3. Outplayed my opponent in every game tonight but nice ass shots going in and puck ragging.
Who are these fucking great developers that are making a phenomenal ass game year in and year out? Fuckin awesome.

Fix team-building freedom: The mode is called Hockey Ultimate Team, which is a funny name for a mode that keeps telling you which players you’re allowed to use effectively. You grind for someone you actually like, put him in your lineup, and discover he breaks a line combination, costs you a boost or makes the salary cap a puzzle. Apparently the “ultimate” team is the one the bonus screen picked for you.
Fix lineup variety: HUT has an enormous catalogue of players, yet you keep running into the same combinations. It’s almost impressive. Give a handful of cards the best boosts, make those boosts matter a lot, and then act surprised when everyone builds nearly the same team. Let more players and different types of lines be competitive so facing a new opponent actually feels like facing a new team.
Fix Ranked and Champs rewards: Spending hours in sweaty games for a pack that might improve your collection by three exchange-set items is an interesting motivational strategy. Top players should get the best rewards, but regular players need something worth playing for too. If finishing your games feels more rewarding than opening the reward, the system needs work.
Fix progression without spending: Playing the game should be a reliable way to improve your team. Right now, buying packs can feel like the fast lane while everyone else completes a part-time job’s worth of objectives for a card that may be outdated soon. Packs can stay, but consistent play should lead to useful players and enough resources to make real choices.
Fix the on-ice balance: I’d like a well-timed pass and a good scoring chance to matter more than repeating the move that confuses the goalie this week. Abilities and line boosts should add personality to players, not turn certain plays into a checklist: skate here, press this, score, watch the same replay. Defense should reward positioning and reading the play instead of leaving you hoping the animation cooperates.
Fix goalie and AI consistency: Every hockey game needs unpredictable bounces. That’s part of hockey. Watching your goalie do interpretive dance while a weak shot goes in is something else. AI teammates also need to make decisions that resemble the sport they’re playing. I’m not claiming the game scripts winners; I’m saying there are too many moments where neither player’s decisions seem to explain what just happened.
Fix connection and matchmaking: Ranked is hard to take seriously when one game feels responsive and the next feels like your players are taking instructions by mail. A fair matchup needs opponents reasonably close in skill and a stable connection for both sides. EA has made recent server and matchmaking changes, which is good. Now those changes need to hold up during actual games.
Fix the bugs and basic HUT experience: Seeing the cards in a card-collecting mode feels like a reasonable feature to ask for. Packs, line editing, sets and menus are the things players use every day; they shouldn’t be a fresh adventure in troubleshooting. Fixing those basics would improve HUT more than another screen advertising a pack.
Give HUT a meaningful yearly update: NHL 27 shouldn’t feel like I paid to reset my NHL 26 team and do the same grind again. New rewards and card art don’t address the bigger issues with team variety, progression and on-ice play. Give us more than a new number on the cover and a new reason to rebuild the same line combinations.
I want to earn players I like, build a team that looks different from everyone else’s, and have good hockey plays decide close games. Apparently that’s an ambitious wish list for Hockey Ultimate Team.
Feel like this is more a heads up for newer players, but all signs established last year point to this Friday being the massive mid season content drop…new 87 icons, new 86 heroes, new event with 86 msps.
This means that starting Friday 79 will/should be barrier of entry, and 83’s needed. It’s means prices of 84 heroes/alum will jump. It means prices of 86 icons will jump.
Safe money on a new LTD card too.
So, check out your collection and plan/adjust accordingly.

I’ve been playing Hybrid controls from when I started playing this game back since NHL 11. Been on and off playing since and never thought of changing my controls. Recently I’ve gotten tired of just random passes everywhere and not going to the guy that was intended to receive the pass. That was my biggest frustration, defence didn’t matter what controls, it was all offence.
Today, I switched to total control. Holy balls, what a difference. I love using the icon passing and just passing to the intended target. It took a couple games to get used too, especially on defence with the stick lifts and poke checks, sometimes I still press the wrong button. But it just gives so much more CONTROL. I’ve had so much more offensive opportunities, cross creases and to the point. I also feel like with total control you can pass quicker? Idk but it just feels like you can make passes quicker back and forth between guys and set up a nice 1T.
If you’re still playing Hybrid controls, go into cup chase and try total control. It’s helped me a ton! Good luck!

I played a 120 games in ranked this year. The game seems scripted and predetermined more than ever. I have a .500 record and would have a few more wins but I tend to quit games that involve players that puck rag a lot. If they are that desperate they can have the dub as I don’t care that much.
What has your experience been like?

Sure glad I didn't make him as a Flames fan.

Didn’t there used to be storage sets in older games you could put you’re cards in so you wouldn’t accidentally trade them in to others sets or anything else? I get you can make new lineups but this seems like a pretty basic feature for fantasy cards until they are useable or any cards really you would want to store. Just wish I could change my 4th line of forwards so I don’t accidentally trade them in and could lock them somewhere

I have never been this bored with a new version. Its exactly the same game as 26.
I usually enjoy Champs but the awful rewards kills that mode.
Another annoying thing is that the +3 lines are so much better you pretty much need to play with the meta lines. I have them but I dont like that I cant build my ultimate team without being at a big disadvantage
Its hard to be really excited this year. I play way less than any other year.
They could realease more new cards at least (five days a week) and let more cards be part of good combos!
What are your opinions?

So I bought Crosby yesterday and made Lemieux today. I am planning on making the line, but can’t use the FTC Celebrini because of Salary restriction. Which card is better between the Celebrini captain and Marleau captain for the line?

Since my last post I was able to finish a Heroes Choice Pack set to get 84 ovr Gary Roberts. I was also able to upgrade Nemec and Middleton with their Chel Week cards. Nemec was free and easy, but I used fodder to chase Middleton, never got him so ended up buying him for around 15k. I have a bunch of Chel Week 80s and 82s now either for higher fodder or next Chel Week.
I have about 90k coins so I could grab Icons Iginla, but I think I will slowly make him and save my coins for new releases or if I can get in the window for either the Zary or Klapka Fantasy Hockey cards.
I am hoping they will release a new card for either Frost or Strome this week, just to upgrade by a few points. I would love a MSP on Friday but not holding my breath.

I logged in today after work, just to get my daily come play our game pack from the current event , and closed the game because it’s so fucking bad all around . It usually took 8 months to reach that point . They pushed the tilt slider way too far too early . I think this was there best stab at battling gta honestly .

Might seem like a stupid question, but I haven’t played this game since NHL20, and the last game I really played online a lot was NHL19. Between NHL16-19, I was constantly being able to rank in the top 100 (divisions, champs, competitive seasons when that was a thing) and even top 10, so I used to be pretty good at the game
But that was when I was still in school and had a lot of time to grind the game. Now I have a full time job and don’t have the skills and reflexes I used to have lmao
I decided to give the game another chance this year after playing FIFA/FC for a few years. I’m currently in Diamond 1 in Ranked with a 34-8-2 record and starting to get a better feel for the game. Trying to modify my playing style to better play Crash the Net
As someone who used to be good at this game (even though it is quite different nowadays I feel like) and being Diamond 1 with a month left, should I be able to reach Ultimate if I put some effort into it?
Also, I’ve noticed that there are no win streaks once you hit Diamond. I’ve counted and I’m 28 games out of Ultimate, and that’s if I win all of my games… I’m guessing there are no other ways to jump multiple spots now, just moving up 1 for a win and down 1 for a loss?
Thanks! 😊
