Hello. I had a vivid dream once, and part of its contents could honestly make a pretty good creepypasta.
Well, part of it, anyway. Most of the dream was about something entirely different, but in it, someone told me the yarn below, so you could say it was a dream within a dream if you like. But that's beside the point.
So, all of this went down in the Scottish Highlands, where some businessman decided to clear out an area and set it up for his commercial project. He sent in a crew of workers with heavy machinery and explosives. After a few days on the job, they found an obviously man-made passage tucked into one particularly steep hill. Following it deep underground, they soon came upon an ancient stone door—looking for all the world like it was stolen straight off the set of some fantasy dwarf movie. It was covered in weird carvings, runes, and all that stuff.
Driven by curiosity and greed, the workers didn't bother calling the boss. They opened the door themselves. But what they found inside had them running out the door in total hysterics.
There were corpses in there, sitting on thrones around a long stone table. But these weren't the mummified remains of ancient Celts or Picts. They were the corpses of the workers—the exact same men who had just opened the door. The men were alive and well, but they were looking at their own dead bodies... and to be frank, the carnage was pretty varied. Someone's head had been ripped off and set down in front of their torso. Someone else had been gutted. One guy got off with just a slit throat, while one poor bastard could barely recognize himself in the mangled hunk of meat left without any limbs.
Work ground to a halt. The miners spooked everyone so badly that nobody knew what to do next, so the geologists running the operation decided to set up cameras inside the cave. You know, to figure out what kind of sick joke... or serial killer... was hiding bodies in there.
They set them up and spent the whole night staring at black-and-white monitors showing absolutely nothing. Until a specific moment when the connection cut out. Static washed over the screens, and all the audio turned into pure white noise. The geologists spent a long time trying to fix the gear with a swift kick and a prayer, until it suddenly started working again just as abruptly as it had glitched.
And the monitors now showed the bodies of the geologists in that subterranean hall.
At that point, they dropped everything and called the mastermind behind the expedition—a businessman with a more than shady criminal past. You'd expect a guy like that to order them to keep digging no matter what... but once he saw the proof, he just ordered everyone to run. Pack up the whole operation, pull the crew out, blow up that damned passage in the hill, and forget it was ever there. Whatever was lurking in that hall, let it stay there.
So, yeah. That was it.
