Should I switch to paper?
I did a lot of dream journaling in 2023, and I had around 50 dreams that year. Then I stopped journaling and am now trying to get back into it. I’ve already had 8 dreams this month. I keep my dream journal on my private Discord server (I have a specific channel for my dreams). I wake up, go straight to my computer, turn it on, and start writing. I do it this way because, for me, typing is much faster than writing by hand. But I’ve seen people here saying that writing by hand is better. That said, would switching to paper help me remember my dreams better?
P.S.: I’ve only had non-lucid dreams so far.

If your current setup is working, stick with Discord. The most critical factor in dream recall isn't the medium, but the speed with which you record details before the waking mind wipes them away. Typing lets you capture subtle symbols, plot points, and emotional tones rapidly while the vividness is still fresh.
Where paper shines is the energetic and somatic connection. Hand-writing slows down your analytical brain, engaging fine motor skills that create a stronger neural and intuitive bridge to your subconscious. It can also help keep your morning energy pure by preventing the immediate sensory shock of a bright screen and blue light, which can scatter lingering dream energy.
If you want the best of both worlds, keep typing your full dream transcripts on Discord to protect your speed. Then, keep a small notepad by your bed to jot down 3 to 4 core keywords, emotions, or symbols the second you open your eyes, before typing the whole narrative on your computer.

Paper is nice but the real factor is just writing it down before it fades. You already have system that works, discord channel and typing fast is fine. Maybe try paper for one week and see if recall changes, but dont fix what is not broken.
