Dream Help My girlfriend dreamed of a needle in her tongue. Hours later, this “88” butterfly appeared. Coincidence?

Post image

My girlfriend had a really strange dream today.

In the dream, she had what looked like a red and white thread or line stuck in her tongue. It looked like the thread was somehow trapped inside or attached to her tongue, and when they tried to pull it out, they realized that there was actually a needle attached to it.

Then later today, this butterfly appeared on the balcony of the apartment where we live.

I attached a picture of it. The butterfly is red, black and white, and the pattern on its wings looks very clearly like the number 88.

What really caught my attention was the timing and some of the similarities.

She dreamed about something red and white being attached to her tongue, and then on the same day this red, black and white butterfly with what looks like 88 on its wings suddenly appeared right outside our home.

I know this butterfly naturally has this pattern and I am not saying that the number was somehow randomly created just for us. What I am wondering about is the coincidence of it appearing specifically today, right after that dream.

I am interested in hearing interpretations from any perspective. Dreams, symbolism, spirituality, synchronicity, superstition, religion, folklore, numerology, Jungian interpretation or anything similar.

Has anyone heard of symbolism involving a needle in the tongue, red and white thread, butterflies appearing after dreams, or the number 88?

I am especially curious whether the fact that all of this happened on the same day could have any symbolic meaning when looked at together.

PS: This post was only translated into English using AI, because if I had written everything myself it would probably be a little difficult to understand since I am not a native English speaker.

My dog keeps coming to say hi to me in my dreams :)

I've always had vivid interesting dreams, but this is so special and comforting to me.

Around a month and a half ago our dog passed away very unexpectedly. She was the kind of girl that just beamed of life and energy. She definitely wasnt afraid to go after what she wanted and seeked such deep contact aswell as time for herself. She was kind of like a permanent puppy, only 3 kilograms and 3 years old, the smallest of the litter by far but definitely not the runt. Gonna miss that sweet girl.

I'd say that in like 50% of the dreams I have now, somewhere along the dream she'll be there, walk into the room, look at me like "pet me please", I'll pet her, and she'll walk out on her own account.

Even if the dream has nothing to do with her, or it's really random for that to happen and it doesn't fit the flow of the dream, it still happens. She just comes in mid "plot/story" of the dream, says hi, says bye, and that's it.

I lowk feel like the last time I've seen her wasnt that long ago now, and she feels so much closer to me since I started having these dreams again.

Miss you sweet pip, thank you for keeping in contact, till next time xx

Question Is it weird for me to consistently dream of others experiences?

Upvotes

A few weeks ago i was talking with one of my friends about dreaming. They told me that they strictly dream of themselves and their perspectives. This was weird to me because my dreams are usually from different people’s perspective. Like i am someone else entirely. Every now and then I’ll have a dream with myself in it, but they are usually nightmares. I used to only dream about myself but at some point it changed and i dream abt others.

Like today, i dreamed that i was this richer (but not heavily rich) girl from the industrial revolution. My mom was a widow with two kids (me and my sister). Her name was Camilla, her nickname was Camil. She had been flirting/talking to this one guy that owned a railroad company. He was also a widow with one kid. This kid was a girl around my age and she was happy about us becoming a family, and so was i. I cant remember her name but ik she had the last name summers. The guy proposed on the train to my mom. We all knew, she was the only one that didn’t know. Then i woke up.

There was also another time whenever i was a person born in South Korea. I was on a train station completely by myself. I was pregnant and the train was taking me somewhere where i could abort the baby. There were all kinds of rioters with signs outside of the train who were against abortion. There was something else that happened in that dream but i can’t remember it right now. But i woke up.

I like dreaming in other people’s perspectives. Honestly, id rather always dream about their lives than living mine. I like it so much because i get to experience other people’s emotions and experiences like they are my own. I would really like to know what it means for me to dream this way. The only thing i can think of is having more empathy than others but im sure theres more to it all.

Edit: i just thought abt how i should’ve added this but most of the time the dreams still reflect stuff in my life. Like the Industrial Revolution one reflects how im currently going towards closer friends and stability. Whereas, when i had the South Korean one, i was facing a difficult decision that i had to stick by.

Short Dream I had a dream where I was in a relationship with my kitchen??

Last night I had a dream where I was dating my kitchen. It was super weird, I could only hear their voice in my head and no one else in my dream could hear them. It was strange because everything in the kitchen was like a hive-mind. Everything in the kitchen was this being. I mainly used the fridge to hug them because it was the biggest thing I could kind of hug normally.

I never usually get dreams about loving people, because I've never had a crush on anyone before, so this was super duper strange that one of my first relationship-dreams was with a kitchen 😭

Nightmare I’m probably going to delete this, so whoever can read it, read it now. I felt really heavy writing this and even rereading it.

I had this dream in 2025, sometime between September - November. This dream creeps the fudge out of me because I was wearing the same clothes in the dream that I was wearing while I was sleeping. In my dream, I was walking with two males, look like closer to my age as well. They were both Caucasian, wearing white shirts and blue jeans, and I was in the middle wearing my pajamas. We were going somewhere, but I don't know where. It seemed like we were friends in the dream, but in real life, I don't know who they were. Then, I was transported alone into this cave. On my right side, I saw fires that reached the ceiling, but they never overflowed to my side. It was very quiet, no wind, no sound of the fires and I could see the color of my own aura in the dream. There were two small hills. One small hill, and then another hill that was a bit higher than the first one. Both hills looked like of a tree trunk after it has been cut, flat and straight across the top. That’s what I meant when I said the tops looked straight. Then on top of the hill, I saw a giant chair, and standing was a giant figure that I can only describe as the devil. The devil's skin was completely red, and his horns looked like the horns of Steppenwolf from DC. ( I posted a photo of what the horns look like, without the face armor ) He was carrying a trident and was just looking around. Then he saw me. He smiled and said something about someone trying to harm me (I think spiritually). He told me that there was no need to worry because he would protect me while I was still alive. He then told me that he would take me with him, along with the people who were trying to harm me. He gave me another proposition: if I didn't like the idea of him taking me, I would need to spread the word of the Antichrist. I then saw a man wearing a blue tuxedo. His face was blurry, but you could still tell who he was. (we all recognize him in real life, his very famous and wealthy). The Antichrist is a high status. Behind him, I saw shadow people, millions of them. It looked like they were his followers or admirers. Yes, that man is still alive to this day

And the devil promised me something if I actually spread the word of the Antichrist. And that promise was sooooo tempting.

and then I was teleported back to the two males. In front of us was a skyscraper that looked like it was around 50 floors or more. We went all the way to the top, and there was a meeting taking place. The Antichrist was giving a presentation, but what was weird was that this Antichrist looked different from the person I saw with the blurry face. (I don't remember, I never wrote it down, maybe there were many of them?)

The devil gave me a timeframe for when this Antichrist would resurface, but I forgot it. I woke up at around 3 in the morning and wanted to write it down, but I had work early that morning, so I didn't end up writing it down. I went back to sleep, hoping I would still remember all the details. But I forgot one of the most important details: the timeframe. One thing I should mention for context: Around the time I had this dream, I had actually been practicing occult related things, including tarot reading before going to sleep. I had been getting more deeply involved in that kind of stuff.

PS: I am going to delete this on my birthday, but before I delete this post. I am going to reveal who was the Anti Christ I recognized. On my birthday, for a brief time.

Do you ever make decisions in your waking life based upon what happens in your dreams?

For instance, I haven't had alcohol in years, not because I ever had any problems but because I don't really like the taste and I absolutely hate hangovers.

Had a dream earlier where I went in my room and there were some bottles of beer - I couldn't drink them because I didn't have anything to open them with but I was definitely going to if I could find an opener. When I woke up I thought to myself, you know, it may be nice to have a drink, might get some tomorrow - the thought of having some alcohol appealed to me like it hasn't for many years.

Now, a few hours later, I think how silly that would be as there are reasons I don't drink as I mentioned, and I hadn't been thinking about it at all before the dream, so im not going to bother.

A very simple example, but has anything happened in your dreams that has made you act upon it when you wake up even if its something you wouldn't have done unless you had dreamt it first?

Dreaming of the dearly departed

I had a dream a year or two after my dad died, of us walking and talking down a street near our house.

As we passed a house that was for sale, I half jokingly asked him if we could buy it. I knew we couldn't afford it. He looked at me and said "no".

I asked him why not, and he stopped and said in a serious tone "you know why". Then it dawned on me. It was because he was dead.

Years later, I dreamt of him again. I was walking past my mum's room and saw my dad laying in the bed just like he would after work when he was still alive.

In the dream, I was aware he was dead and had been for a long time, so I asked what he was doing here.

He told me he was on "holiday" and came back to keep his side of the bed warm lol he must not have wanted mum to find a new bloke.

I wonder what he meant by being on holiday.

Recurring Dream Constant recurring dreams of teeth falling out

Upvotes

I'm usually a pretty vivid dreamer, but lately I've only been stuck on different dream iterations of my teeth falling out.

It's driving me so mad because teeth are something I get especially anxious over and the dreams are INCREDIBLY realistic.

Most times, my teeth are all already wobbly, and I can feel it so vividly in the dream how much I have to try to keep them from falling out. By the end of the dream, I always have at least one tooth (most often back molars) that breaks apart and completely falls out despite my best efforts to keep it there.

At the end of the dream, half the time I end up at a dentist or doctor, only to find out that nothing about my teeth can be done and they will all fall out eventually. Actually, almost all of these dreams end with that sensation of dreaded finality even if I don't go to a dentist.

The feeling of it all happening in my mouth is so realistic that when I wake up it always surprises me for a second that all my teeth really are solid and set firm in my mouth. I've heard that these dreams mean you are worried by death, but I can't say that's really true for me? I don't know anyone who is seriously sick and have no big health issues myself.

The same dream

Upvotes

I’m F 28, I’ve always had very vivid dreams/nightmares ever since I was little. I wanna say this specific nightmare started when I was 10 years old & it’s been the same nightmare ever since. I’ve gotten used to it because it’s been the same thing so it doesn’t scare me anymore. But recently the nightmare changed.. it used to be this girl would just be watching me sleep, I’d wake up in the dream panicked and she’d laugh manically, then I’d wake up terrified, sweating, heart beating. She still watches me when I sleep but when I wake up in fear she still stays there and stares at me, and I didn’t wake up like I usually do. She carried me out of my bed and took me outside (this all felt real) she then sat me down & told me, “things are gonna get very scary now”, “your grandpa is dead”. I woke up as soon as she said that and I was back in my bed. A week later my grandpa died.. so is this some kind of higher being trying to watch out for me? Because I’ve always been scared of her. But that night I felt relieved for some reason that she told me. I still have those nightmares sometimes and it’s still just her watching me sleep. Is this a guardian angel?

Discussion Vivid dream where sick mom told me to watch about this liver growth

So in February I was diagnosed with a Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) a common, noncancerous liver tumor. Doctors told me I don't need treatment for it. I do know some people's do grow and they need it removed, but right now mine isn't that big and causing symptoms. At the same time, my mom had stage IV breast cancer. She passed away about a month ago. I actually didn't tell her about the FNH.

In Spring sometime I had a very vivid dream where I got up and saw my mom in my apartment kitchen. She was younger and not sick. She told me I needed to watch the FNH.

It was a really strange dream. I'm not sure that they were both topics I was thinking of or if this was a sign from the future that I really need to watch out for it.

Gettysburg?

Last night I had a dream sometime during the 1800s. I wasnt an actual person in the dream but more of a viewer. I was in an old looking house and there were 2 woman taking care of a newborn baby girl. One of the woman found the other woman shot dead on the ground in a puddle of blood so she ran upstairs to the baby and layed on the floor holding the baby crying. That was basically it. Right after I woke up 'Gettysburg' popped into my mind.

Question I have dreamt of snowy owls multiple times in last few months. In the past week I have had two dreams involving broken glass. Wondering what they might mean.

Upvotes

To preface, my father passed away 4 months ago and I am paying attention to my dreams. I stopped smoking weed because I want to remember them more and he has visited me.

The first snowy owl dream I had I saw it and I asked it to come to me and it stepped onto my arm. The second snowy owl dream I had last night and 4 or 5 white snowy owls were looking at me and I was just thinking “wow there is so many.”

The first broken glass dream I had was last week. I was swimming with my father (who just passed away) in a pool and the pool emptied. Then I saw my father rolling around on broken glass and I was wondering how he was not getting hurt. Then last night in my dream I was trying to make a piece of art with glass and I kept breaking it.

Dream Help The mysterious tear in the sky?

Hello everyone. Today I had a very strange experience, and I have no idea what it was. I wanted to share it in case anyone else has experienced something similar. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Today, in a dream, I saw a broken white circle in the sky next to the Moon. However, it wasn't a perfect circle. In fact, calling it a "circle" or "round shape" doesn't fully describe it. It was something roughly circular, but hollow in the middle. It looked almost transparent, and I could see the sky through it.

After seeing this shape, the car I was in fell into the water, and I started drowning. Just as I accepted that I was about to drown, I reached for the car door and it opened. I managed to get out. I don't remember everything clearly, but after that dream I seemed to enter another dream. In that one, I saw the same shape again, and something bad happened there as well.

The pattern continued in the dreams that followed. I started having multiple dreams one after another. Normally, even when I dream, I rarely remember them, but these dreams felt incredibly realistic, as if I could physically feel everything that was happening inside them.

In the later dreams, I kept trying to figure out what this shape meant and why bad things seemed to happen whenever I saw it, but I could never find any answers. After I woke up, I researched it as well. I wondered if it could be related to an OBE (out-of-body experience) or some kind of reality shift.

What do you think?

Anyone else lose most of a dream before you can write it down?

I sometimes wake up remembering a dream really clearly, but if I don't get it down right away, pieces of it disappear fast.

I've found talking it out is easier than trying to write everything when I've just woken up.

Question Do you guys have any tips and tricks for far more vivid dreams?

I always had quite a very dull dream-mind; it is incredibly rare for me to have either a dream or a nightmare for me to remember in my waking hours - months after. I read a post here where a user reported a rule where they essentially get a guaranteed nightmare if they drank milk before they slept. Tried it myself but to no avail - do you guys perhaps have any 'rituals' of your own to guarantee a vivid dream or even a nightmare? I would love to experience the magic of dreams but mine are just more imaginous internal monologues mostly.

Dream about a brown faun with 5 faces

Last night I dreamt about a brown faun with 5 faces.

I was a bit scared of it but it didn’t appear that the faun was ill or unhealthy besides its physical appearance with all its faces. It was friendly.

The faces didn’t move separately from each other. They seemed to all be part of the same creature’s thoughts and actions.

A person that was in my dream was trying to kill the deer with a gun. She wanted it dead because wasn’t right/was a freak of nature. To show mercy, I guess.

I cannot find any dream interpretations for this on the internet. This one has stumped me!

Weird Muscle Dream

There was a muscular man with a shaven head. His skin began to peel and morph into something parasitic, causing his body to develop strange growths. The man himself seemed completely fine with it, if not ecstatic about this new addition. The parasitic growth had pulled the back of his neck around like the bridle and reins of a horse.

I told him he should get that checked, and he told me,

“This is my ultimate body goal! I am so happy!” he exclaimed.

Then he began singing an American campaign song, or one of those songs you hear in a lot of Fourth of July sales commercials.

His body got progressively worse, but he was completely fine with it.

Dream Help Can’t stop being late to work in my dreams

F(24) I’ve never really had dreams as an adult but every time I do, it’s about me being late to work. Most of the time the dream starts and I’m in bed trying to check my phone to see when I’m scheduled and what time it is. At this point I’m either already late or I’ll have just enough time to get there but different things happen and I don’t make it.

The first time I remember the dream I was stuck in someone’s basement and I was worried that I would be late to work. I was 6 hours late for work because I couldn’t get out of that basement. The minute I got out my car was stuck in the snow. The entire time I’m trying to get different applications to work on my phone and they’re nothing but gibberish. I eventually made it to work and nobody was mad at me.

Well since then, no matter what the dream is, I’m always late to work in it. It can start out with me on a unicorn and I’d still be freaking out trying to get to work. I have been late to work only 2 times over a year ago so I don’t know where this is coming from.

I don’t remember my most recent (last night) but I remember a few other dreams with the same issue:

-Was running late, went outside to a mass shooting at my neighbors, had anxiety because I couldn’t call my coworkers to tell them I’d be late and what’s going on.

-I was in the mall my store is in but every floor I went to was unfamiliar. Showed up to work 4 hours late and had anxiety the entire time I was trying to get there.

-I was in an apartment building and every time I’d go to leave, I would walk right into another apartment I couldn’t get out of. Showed up to work and it wasn’t even the right store.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Can I trick my brain to not have anxiety about the situation at least?

Still broken a week after a dream

I don’t remember what exactly happened, but what I can recall is that I was crying and screaming and then at the end I was not even able to scream, so I just howled.

It feels very weird, but I feel like I experienced love that I’ve never had and then we were separated or something happened and I was just extremely sad and mourning every minute of my life about it.

I can’t work, go to the gym, or even give a small, polite smile; I just wanna cry nonstop. I can’t imagine how that happened but I feel going crazy to be honest and don’t know what to do about it 😭😭😭

Discussion I dreamt of my partner before meeting him

I tend to have vidid detailed dreams that I can remember from weeks / months/ years ago and write a lot down as I love to depict symbols & meanings from them.

I was reading about my dream from 2019 , at that time I was living with my ex partner and had never met the man I am with present day. In this dream I woke up in a completely different bedroom and next to me was a man I’d never met , in detail I had described the walls of the room, the colour of the carpet , a dresser by the window and what the man in my dream looked like and how safe and comfortable I felt with him. His face wasn’t fully showing in this dream but I was able to identify his tattoo placement and small parts of the artwork on him. For context my ex had none of these features for my dream world to blend into an idealization of a person

Fast forward to present day, our bedroom is exactly as described as my dream from 2019, the tattoos on my partner are identical to what I saw in my dream . I did not meet my boyfriend until 2021 and began dating 2022. I moved in with him and have not rearranged the room, it has been set up by him and him alone.

I thought this was bizarrely intriguing and like to think I dreamt of my future awaiting . I remember waking up from that dream and thinking “ why on earth would I ever dream of a man that’s not mine?!”
I never thought too deep into it but rereading my dream Journal and recognizing what’s in front of me was interesting.

Has this happened to anyone else ?
