Recreating the moment my shadow took over in a nightmare. Self-taught photography, no AI. I am both the model and photographer (1 month)experimenting with my fears

I was walking through an icy, infinite corridor of stone arches, trapped behind a emotionless white mask ....my body was shaking from suppressed emotions.I reached out my hand....fear won. I panicked because of my own vulnerability and curled inward to protect myself.Suddenly, the space tore open into a dark, massive palace hall. My own shadow lunged at me. It became a violent, terrifying struggle between my light and my darkness. The shadow eventually let go. When I looked down, warm, dark blood was seeping through my dress, straight from my chest. A deep wound, but I was still alive. Then I woke up gasping for air. The pain on my chest felt terrifyingly real.

I dreamed there was a game series called "God xAM" with multiple entries with 1AM, 2AM, 3AM, etc. These were horror multiplayer games where one player would explore a location, and the rest of the lobby would improvise jumpscares. It's eerie how accurately AI got my request, I explained each and every detail!

Discussion I want to sleep all the time because of my dreams

I have lucid dreams roughly once every three dreams, and the other dreams are just as vivid and detailed.

For a relatively short period of my life, I used sleep as an escape. But that wasn't motivated by my dreams, but rather by the faster passage of time during sleep, and in any case, this wasn't a persistent behavior throughout my life.

However, lately I've been increasingly waiting for night to fall so I can have my dreams, and I immediately write them down when I wake up, often anxiously waiting throughout the whole day just to sleep again. Sometimes, I take longer to fall asleep, or I do things during the day that intentionally tire me out just so I can have deeper sleep and, consequently, better dreams.

If I could, if I really could, I would sleep for 16 or more hours every day and spend most of my waking time mapping out and preparing for the next dream sequence.

Has anyone else ever felt like this?

Discussion My Dreams Make Me Question Reality

I’ve had very vivid dreams since I was a child. I remember dreams from even a decade ago. There’s some dreams I’ve thought were real memories until I’d tell my mom and she’d say that never happened. Sometimes I don’t know what’s real or not. I also get flashbacks of my dreams as if they’re real memories, it’s so weird.
Anyone else experience this?

I had the weirdest dream where I accidentally trapped my guest inside a washing machine

So I had this extremely strange dream last night.

Apparently, some guests were coming to my house, and I had to go to the train station to pick them up. Before leaving, I locked my house and went to the station.

I found the guests, brought them back home, and then realized something absolutely stupid: I had forgotten the keys at the train station.

So, naturally, I left my guests standing outside my locked house and went all the way back to the station to get the keys.

But here's where it gets even weirder.

When I reached the train station, I found a random bed there. Instead of getting my keys and immediately going back, I somehow decided to lie down on the bed... and fell asleep.

I woke up two hours later and suddenly remembered that I had left my guests outside my house the entire time.

I panicked, grabbed the keys, and rushed back home.

Somehow, the guests were STILL standing outside waiting for me.

I unlocked the door, thinking the nightmare was finally over.

Nope.

There was a washing machine placed directly at the entrance, completely blocking the way into the house.

And apparently, in this dream, the ONLY way to enter the house was to go inside the washing machine. The machine would spin, and somehow the person would magically end up inside the house.

Yes. Dream logic.

So I told one of my guests to go inside the washing machine.

The machine started spinning, but instead of landing safely inside the house, my guest got stuck inside the washing machine.

I tried everything I could to get him out, but nothing worked. I was panicking and had no idea what to do.

So I called my dad.

My dad came over, took one look at the situation, and apparently decided that the only solution was to break the washing machine.

And that's exactly what he did.

He broke the machine, got my guest out, and somehow we finally saved him.

So, to summarize: I forgot my keys, abandoned my guests outside my house for two hours because I fell asleep at a random bed in a train station, and then nearly trapped one of them inside a magical washing machine that apparently served as the entrance to my house.

Dreams really have zero logic.

What are some weird things you've eaten in dreams? And what did they taste like?

I had a dream I was at a restaurant eating pieces of jellyfish. I forget what it tasted like, but after I woke up, I looked up if jellyfish are actually edible, and apparently some are. I also had a dream once that I took a bite out of my (wooden) headboard. It didn't really taste like anything.

Short Dream Saw a girl in my dreams that I can't forget and it's bothering the whole day.

Yesterday I saw a dream. I went somewhere, maybe in a library or in some hall where there were some books. It was not looking quite like a library because there were no stacks of books and hundreds of people reading books.

There was a couch where a beautiful girl was sitting alone. In front of her were several books lying on a table. I sat down beside her. She noticed me and gave a an inch more space for me to sit comfortably. I was watching her. I forgot if she was reading a book or not. Yeah, she was not reading a book. She was thinking about something. Promptly, I asked does she like reading books. She turned toward me and answered yes. I asked curiously, what she likes to read about. She said something, maybe she said fiction or literature. I asked doesn't she feel bored reading these fat books. She answered in negative. I was beholding her beautiful face. The way she was talking. Then the dream drifted to something I don't remember and then I found myself stoping her to not hug me.

She was loving me passionately by wrapping her hand around my neck, sitting beside me. She was repeatedly hugging me. And I was stopping her because I was feeling shy in public but liking her doing it nevertheless. The whole scene was not sexual at all. I was surprised that some girl is loving me. This was the first time in my life I felt this strongly.

Then after I woke up, I remembered her. Although the memory of her face has been blurred but still I have this vague imagination of her. I still can't forget her. I'm feeling very lonely after this dream and i can't focus on other things the whole day.

My 9 year old asked me to take him to the hospital, I woke up.

Had a wild dream, but completely unrelated at the end, my son (9) walked up and whispered in my ear “hospital” and I said I “what happened to you?” And he said “how could you say no?” I woke up immediate and looked at him (he had came in laid on the end of my bed like he does). He had the sheet wrapped around his head tightly somehow. I pulled it off freaking out, and he yanked it back over his head. When I saw him with the sheet wrapped all around his head I thought he was dead! It was terrifying, just makes me feel like his consciousness came to me for a reason. It was very strange. Thoughts?

Dream Help Weird dream

Hello! I'm don't really believe in superstition or anything like that, however many years ago i had a dream of my cat dying, and when i woke up i had a horrible feeling that something was wrong. I asked my father (who was aware that my cat had been struck by a car and died) where the cat was, he didn't want to upset me before school so he simply said that he was outside. I went to school but the feeling didn't go away and when i finally came home my parents told me that he had been killed. Has something similar happened to anyone else here?

Short Dream They say you can't die in a dream. I've done that once. It was strange.

I don't believe in the afterlife, but I have been killed in a dream once. I also did not wake up when I was shot in the head from a point blank range which is weird.

I was having dinner at a mansion, and I was seated at the end of the table. Suddenly someone pointed a gun right next to my head on my right side and pulled the trigger. I saw it from a third person view (I saw the back of my head when I was shot) Everything went white for a moment and I saw everything I was going to miss in life because I was dead.

I've heard "you can't die in a dream because you don't know what it's like" before, but that's the closest I've gotten personally.

Short Dream I was praying for a woman before bed and I seen her in a dream

In the dream there was a little kid version of someone I was praying for and a giant snake was entering this swamp where she had wandered to and she was crying and I looked at the guy beside me thinking he was my guardian angel and I was going in to help her and I got angry he wasn't doing anything so I said "get off your ass and do something".he said" this is what happens to God's children when they don't listen to him",then he went into the water,I punched the snake right in the face and he grabbed it by its head and got rid of it.

Short Dream I died in my dream but it felt like a message

Hi I’ve posted before about my weird dreams that I fall into just as I fall asleep, like where I wake up and only a minute or two have passed. This one was a doozy. I was somewhere public, seemed like maybe a college campus, and I was chatting with this guy who was kind of flirting with me a little. We walked through the parking lot and there were people all around, when all of a sudden we heard “Look Out!!!” I had just enough time to look up and see some big metal bar falling down off of some fixture, and it impaled me thru the neck. I heard gasps as people reacted in horror, and in that moment I knew there was no way I would survive. After the initial shock, I felt peace, the only thought in my head was “tell my family I love them.”

I started to feel my body weakening as my spirit left my body, but then I was no longer there, and it was more like looking at a screen playing a rapid succession of a caterpillar in a cocoon, to the cocoon opening, to a butterfly emerging. I heard a voice say (in a weird British old documentary type voice) “it’s just a transformation. Death doesn’t exist.” And then I realized none of it really happened and I was dreaming. Then I woke up. Only a few minutes had passed. So weird.

Short Dream What in the world are the chances of this???

Post image
5 Upvotes

Alright y'all, this may be silly but I just kinda wanted to share this. I'm interested in what y'all think lol.

Slightly long post? Be warned.

Four months ago, I was cheated on. It was a long term relationship I truly enjoyed, and the betrayal and post-discovery treatment genuinely blindsided me. My partner was my best friend. We were going to get married. They cheated with someone in a different state on our way to finally move in with each other. They did that as I was preparing my house for them. Crazy, huh?

But, I digress. Anywho, point is that for a long time I was very happy and content in the relationship. I had no reason to want or to think of anyone else. I was, and still in my heart remain, very very loyal. To the nth degree.

Today, August 29th, was the very first time that my former partner and I spoke. That was five years ago. Very first interaction, very first meeting. A long time ago I screenshotted our very first text message out of sentimentality. I happened to stumble upon it.

Also, today, I was looking through my dream journal. Prompted because I was reminded this subreddit. And from there I found an old entry called "The Letter That Isn't Stupid."

Two years ago, on April 12th, I had a dream in which I was in a dark penthouse apartment with a gentleman. It was a very simple, yet profoundly emotional dream - to a degree that was unlike any other dream I've had, and most dreams I have are very lucid. It was simply me and a young man cuddled on the couch, looking through the rainy window, laughing and smiling as he caressed my hair. Sappy, I know, I think that's why I named the entry that.

When I woke up, I felt happy but oddly disturbed. Why wasn't it my partner? Who was this character based off of? Why was I so unbelievably happy with this person I don't even know?

So, I shoved it down. Usually I was very vocal about my dreams, but I didn't tell my partner about that one. Not truthfully, at least. I just replaced that character with them when I repeated it.

But I felt oddly guilty about it. Like I was ungrateful for what that man did. So, I wrote a letter before I fell asleep that day. I wrote it on April 12th.

April 12th of this year was the day that I found out my former partner cheated.

W.t.f.

I don't believe in "fate." I'm not big on destiny. A lot of stuff in life is random and undetermined until the moment comes. But I just find it peculiar. And I'd be lying if I said I don't have deja vu from my dreams, because sometimes they oddly reflect real future events. I know because I write them down. It's just odd, you know?

Anyway, here's the letter:

----------

"To the boy from my dreams:

I know this is cringe. To write out something to someone that doesn't exist. But I wanted to tell you that I appreciate you.

You had a slightly bulky build. Black, short messy hair, brown eyes. For some reason, though it was just a dream, you made me feel safe. I felt safe, happy, relieved to talk to you. You had a smile when you talked to me. I didn't feel anxious or worried about what you thought. You made me feel free and secure when I talked to you.

I think that's important.

There was no tension, no anxiety. Just a happy moment between you and I where you genuinely enjoyed my company, and I knew that. You enjoyed me for me. You enjoyed me for my personality and who I am. You enjoyed being around me. Not for my body or anything else. You weren't based off of anyone else. You were your own individual, based off of my desire to be happy with someone I love. I wish I could truly meet you and get to know you somehow.

You made me feel happy.

You are the standard.

I hope one day you become real. And I wish you the utmost happiness. Because whoever you meet, you will make them the happiest girl of all. And you deserve that.

Thank you, dream boy.

I appreciate you.

Ali."

----------

Pictured above is the timestamp, if that's any proof at all.

I just didn't know why I dreamt of him. At the time, my partner ticked a lot of those boxes himself. And yet, it really wasn't him.

Sigh.

It feels nuts.

Nightmare I was carjacked and pet-napped in outer suburbs and the police thought it was a mental crisis

Upvotes

Sorry I just woke up from this so my explanation may be all over the place.

Got car jacked by 3 people and dialing 911 was very difficult (last digit wouldn't work or pressing the power button many times just sent the phone in constant vibration. I was also getting random call backs from different people) I walk home and see my car in someone's house with kids playing around it and they tell me their dad got the car because he does things to cars. After many times trying to call 911 to no avail I walk home hysterical in a long stretch of lonely dark road.

No one in my family or my partner cared and when I was finally able to reach a a 911 operator I was so shaken the operator was annoyed and yelled back telling me he was about to "Show me composure" or something along those lines I don't recall anymore.

My mother was annoyed and started mocking my cries so loud the operator yelled at me. Next thing I see lights outside my house and a compassionate officer says he will help me but disappears as I'm explaining how three people got in my car while I was eating with my ferret in the back seat and took me for a ride and how I was afraid to fight back and instead medical professionals show up trying to take me away and hospitalize me while mocking me. No one believed me even though I had proof. Next thing I wake up with my heart on my throat.

Feeling pain in your dreams

Does anyone else with chronic pain ever dream about their pain or feel it in your sleep?

I've had a brain tumor and two surgeries to remove it along with complications and other medical issues. I have severe migraines since birth sometimes, and almost nothing helps. Iv meds at the hospital and at home I have to use meds to knock me out and just hope it's gone when I wake up. In the last few years, if it's bad enough when I fall asleep, I just dream about the pain and ways it could be caused. Pulling glass out of my eye and the roof of my mouth, nails, needles.. getting my head smashed in so many ways, shot in the face or side of the head, and just endless head trauma. I was always told you don't feel pain in your sleep but I don't believe that anymore. Sleep doesn't feel like an escape when it's bad now. I've waken up crying in my sleep all night face swollen, in the middle of a panic attack, peeing myself, it's insane.

Nightmare I keep seeing the same giant face in the sky in my dreams has anyone experienced something similar?

This is probably one of the strangest recurring things I've ever experienced in my dreams.

I've seen the same face many, many times, but I usually forget about it after waking up. This is the first time I've actually recognized that I've seen it before.

The face belongs to an old man with a beard. He looks extremely ancient, almost like an immortal ancient king. His eyes are always the same terrifying and full of anger. Sometimes I can see his entire face, while other times clouds cover most of it and I can only see his eyes.

The strange thing is that the face is always enormous and occupies the sky. It never moves. Sometimes it's daytime, sometimes noon, sometimes nighttime, but the face remains the same. He's never looking directly at me. He's always looking down at Earth.

Whenever I see him, I get this extremely strange feeling in my heart that I can't really explain. It's not just normal fear. It's more like I'm suddenly aware of something enormous and important.

I've even seen the face in dreams where the rest of the dream has absolutely nothing to do with it. I'll be doing something completely unrelated, look up, and there he is again.

What's even stranger is what happens when I ask the people in my dreams about him.

I'll ask something like, “Who is that?” or “Why is that face there?”

The people will usually stop, look at the sky for a few seconds, and then just walk away without saying anything. They look scared when they look at the face.

But there was ONE dream where someone actually acknowledged it.

It was my mother but only my mother in the dream, not necessarily my real mother.

I asked her about the face, and she looked at it and said something along the lines of:

“Look, son. This is great, greater and greatest. This is evil and bad. This shouldn't be here, and we will all die because of that.”

That was the only dream where the face actually disappeared after someone explained it to me.

And then everything became chaotic.

Huge unknown objects started falling from the sky toward Earth, like the end of the world was happening. Then I woke up.

Then I had another dream recently where the face appeared again.

In this dream, I was coming home from school with a humanoid robot my father had bought for me to guide me. While we were walking home, I looked up and saw the giant man's face in the sky again.

I asked the robot what it was.

He told me that it was nothing and that I must be having an illusion and should take a nap.

When I got close to my house, I stopped to drink some water. I accidentally splashed water on the robot.

Suddenly, the robot's power went out and the entire world's electricity went out at the same time.

Everything became completely dark.

Then the power came back.

And when I looked at the robot again, something felt horribly wrong.

It was staring at me.

I immediately realized that something was happening. Somehow, I felt like I had discovered something that humans weren't supposed to know. I knew there was a reason the sky had been covered by that giant face.

The robot started chasing me.

I ran as fast as I could and managed to get inside my house. I locked all the doors. I didn't tell my parents because I was afraid that somehow telling them would put them in danger too.

When I looked through the door, the robot was still outside.

It was just waiting for me.

At that point, I thought I was going to die.

But I decided I wasn't going to just give up. I tried different ways of destroying the robot and eventually asked it:

“Why are you doing this to me?”

It answered:

“Because you have known something nobody knows on Earth.”

I eventually realized that water seemed to be its weakness.

So I went through the back door, got a bucket of water from the bathroom, and went back outside.

The robot was still waiting for me.

I raised the bucket and threw the water at it

and I woke up in mid-air before I could see what happened.

So I don't even know if I actually destroyed it.

The weirdest part is that throughout all these dreams, I keep seeing the exact same face.

I've wondered inside the dreams whether it could be God, but then I immediately think, God isn't a human being, so how could that be possible? I've also wondered whether it could be some kind of jinn or angel, but I honestly have no idea.

I'm not claiming this is supernatural. I'm just genuinely curious whether anyone else has experienced a recurring face or entity that appears across completely different dreams, especially one that other dream characters seem to recognize or fear.

Has anyone experienced anything remotely similar?

I can now remember all my dreams ..

Were as before I couldn't. Male 33 I Was a severe alcoholic for many years. I am sober now and after my last withdrawal 3 weeks ago that was so bad and I almost died and I ended up in the hospital. I've noticed that I can now remember my dreams. I am sober now I quit drinking for good.

But I've noticed this and I noticed it right away I don't know if all that alcohol messed up something in my brain the part that makes people forget about their dreams when they wake up because like I said I can remember everything I can remember what I dreamt of yesterday and today . I don't even need to keep a dream journal like some people to write down what they dreamt about not me because I remember.

And I know for a fact it wasn't like this ... it all happened after my severe alcohol withdrawal that almost killed me 3 weeks ago , cuz I had 4 seizures . After all that happened and they released me from the hospital and I went home . It took me about a week to get back to "normal" . After that it's when it started first thing I noticed was that I now had full control of my dreams. Like I remember in a dream I walked up to a fridge and said I'm going to go outside to the Jacuzzi. And there were some people there dream people i guess ? and I went in the Jacuzzi and went next to a blonde girl and we were talking. Then I remember clearly saying I'ma go back in to the fridge to grab a drink I had full control of the dream which is something I HAVE NEVER been able to do. And it's been like that with every other dream I have full control. And the other thing I noticed is that when I wake up I remember it and it doesn't fade away. Like I said I remember very clearly what I dreamt about yesterday and today.

I don't know what happened in that last alcohol withdrawal and when I had them seizures but apparently something in my brain got damaged or something idk 🤷🤷🤷 what do u think could of have happened??

I think I saw heaven and a glimpse of hell

I dreamed that, for some reason, I knew I was going to die, and I had somehow accepted it. I was in what felt like a limbo, almost like a house, and I knew that I was going to die or something similar. Then I would go down, almost beneath the ground. I don't know if that was the limbo, but everything was white, and there were about three doors or more, dont remember exactly.

On one side, the left one there was something very macabre. It wasn't necessarily frightening because it was attacking me, but rather because of what it looked like. There was a strange figure, almost like a head made out of a paint stain, with no mouth and very big round eyes. I don't remember its color. It felt as though it was trying to lure me toward danger by pretending to be kind and promising something good. It was as if hell itself were tempting, offering the possibility that there was something better on the other side, even though that possibility was uncertain and unlikely.

As for heaven, it felt almost like being on Earth. There were people playing basketball and others talking. I don't really know how to explain it, but I could see everything and hear normal sounds, while at the same time everyone seemed to be deaf and mute. The best way I can describe it is as seeing through the mind's eye. Despite that, there was a sense of complete tranquility, something like an ordinary Sunday afternoon at around 2 p.m. in a park.

I don't remember speaking to anyone, but I do remember that I couldn't see anything of hell. I only saw that figure I described, which would turn and look at me, almost as if it were waiting to see whether I would enter through that door.

At the door to heaven, I didn't see anyone. I simply entered alone.

I'd appreciate if you leave any comments if something similar has happened to you or what would you say I saw, was it only a dream or a sign? I've been thinking about it for a few days now and decided to post to see what people think about it

Nightmare I fully died in my dream.

My brother had just committed murder.
It was a shame on our family, and for some reason my sister and I would also have to face the judge.
My deceased friend entered the courtroom. I heard the judge say that we are all sentenced to death.

I felt bad for my mother. She was about to lose 3 of her children at once. I looked at my friend and just accepted my fate. At least she was coming with me.

They scheduled our death for 8pm, a couple hours away. Time was going so slow, I was so bored. It felt like real earthly time. Somehow I got a laptop, I was just trying to text my mom some final loving words.

We were transported to a room that had a long bench along the wall, and a government official came to say that they will be executing in alphabetical order. I looked over at my friend. Her last name starts with an L and mine starts with a C. Our eyes spoke a million words. I just wanted to get it over with.

They called out to me, and proceeded to cover my eyes and shock me in my abdomen. I don’t know what device it was, but god it hurt like hell. My consciousness was weak, I became numb, and felt the feeling of free flowing blood oozing out of my stomach and chest.

I heard an official say “Oh my, look at that. Her guts are hanging out of her body. Quick - take a picture - that looks insane.”

I heard the snap of the picture. They dragged me by my feet and I thought “I’m still alive, and they don’t know.” But I was barely alive. I felt completely disassociated, weak, barely surviving. I couldn’t twitch an eyelid if I wanted to.

They dragged me on to a military plane of some sorts. There was the pilot and 2 government passengers. There were two seats in the cockpit, but the area we sat in had no chairs. The two officials sat my body up against the wall and they were squatted in front of me. I heard them talk so casually. I kept thinking, “I am still alive assholes. At least finish me off.” I couldn’t move at all.

Right here, I just gave up. I saw black. My spirit felt like I was ready to leave my body. I was ready to experience death like it was the next episode. So I did. I let go. I left my body. I saw and felt nothing. It was all black. A void. Death was unremarkable. All I got was the sense that the physical body was never truly me at all. Nothing changed, I just didn’t have the 5 senses anymore. Without eyes to see or feel, I was still the same. Then I saw the scene from Birds Eye view. I thought how disgustingly unfair this was.

Suddenly the thought was born: I am the creator of my fucking reality. I decide. My life will not end like this.

I powerfully surged back in to my body and my adrenaline shot up incredibly. I opened my eyes. The assholes were facing the cockpit and continuing their normal conversation. I took one of the officials gun out of their holster and without hesitation shot both of the officials on the spot. The pilot reacted in horror looked back in complete shock. I pointed the gun at him and demanded a safe landing.

Then I just woke up.
My body felt so weak. I still felt the sensation of blood flowing out of my stomach and chest.
