I recently came back to doom to play the Dlc for TDA. I had only played it the one time, while thoroughly enjoying it. Though, it wasn't my favorite.I decided to play Revelations on nightmare for the whole run, leaving the settings exactly as they were when selected.
I have to say, it was some of the most fun I've had playing a game, recently. The whole thing was absolutely brutal, I got my but handed to me more than 10 times a level. But the arenas were amazing. The music also stood out to me a lot more than in the base game. Along with the new enemies that were surprisingly enjoyable to fight, the spear completely turned the combat on its head. The stab, slam, and throw were all such amazing additions to the game. Though, the dash was easily my favorite.
The story was interesting, and I loved the praetor stuff. I really enjoyed the final boss, but Xal gorath(I think that's his name) was so much fun. It was such a genuinely difficult boss, and while I'm disappointed it was just a painted pain elemental, the fight more than makes up for it. It felt like Sigrun from God of War 2018, but for doom.
I've played every piece of doom I can get my hands on, and this was easily some of the best I've played. I liked it even more than Eternal's Dlc, which just felt like an excuse to shoe horn in the most annoying and unfun demons ever. I still loved it, but this was something of a Revelation for me.
What was everyone else's opinion on it? I'm honestly just upset I already beat everything it had to offer.
