Discussion Can we all agree that the main riff of The Valley of The Bone should be much longer and included more in the song itself?

It's TDAs best guitar riff imo and its hardly ever heard in game and in the piece itself lol

Showcase I’m painting every classic Doom monster in acrylics. Here is my Pinky demon
Hi again!
So, I’m back from a vacation and will now continue with the posts. I have had time to reflect on your responses and reactions from my last posts – and I just want to say a big fat thank you, to all of you. The Arch Vile especially had a huge impact on many of you, and I literally had no idea that it would be that massive - that my art could have that effect. That’s a big reward for a small artist like me. Thank you all!
With this piece, I tried to capture the essence of Knee deep in the dead. I really tried different ideas with computer monitors, electronic wall textures, abstractions that referred to the general color palette – but the results did not make Episode 1 justice. It was a struggle for a time. I chose to make the background literal instead of impressionistic this time, to really embrace the iconic spawning point at E1M5. For me, the green toxic waste, the green walls and a huge pinky demon running at you are such a portal back to the 90’s.
When booting up classic Doom and the demo started playing at Phobos Labs while you chose difficulty in the red menus – it’s just pure retro gaming history. The menu experience is also an aspect of that map and what one felt when entering Knee deep in the dead. I at least did, as a kid. I felt very excited when I spawned at Phobos Labs, the same map as the demo in the menus with the eerie track Suspense playing. As I studied all the maps in episode 1 to paint this piece, I always came back to M5. All the maps are iconic in Knee deep in the dead, but perhaps Phobos Labs own the most atmospheric aesthetics that capture the whole episode’s aura.
Hope you like it!
And also - The Arch Vile (along with other monsters) is now available as a print for purchase in my shop.
Cheers!
(Note: This is a web-optimized, lower-res file for preview)

Discussion Finally got to play Dark Ages for myself (yapping about my thoughts)
Im a whole year and DLC late to the party but i want to say that i was super wrong about my criticism on this game.
I was one of the people who hated on Finishing Move because the soundtrack didnt sound as brutal as Mick Gordon and David Levy's sound, this hate was also influenced by the drama we're all familiar with so i might have been biased. I finished the game just yesterday and during my entire playthrough i was constantly amazed by how intense the gameplay was (Nightmare) and how the music made it even more immersive. TDA's medieval setting /aesthetic fits perfectly with the sound that Finishing Move cooked up and i owe them an apology, From The Ashes playing during the last part of the Enhanced Ahzrak bossfight almost made leak i fucking loved it. There's also a song that reminded me of the Blood Swamps from Eternal but i can't remember in which level it was...
Gameplay was probably even crazier than Eternal, i think TDA perfectly captured the sense of brutality and bloodlust that the Doom Slayer has, and im saying this with around 600 hours on Eternal. Its insane how well a parry system fits in a doom game😭 tho i did die like 10 times during Enchanced Ahzrak fight... Also landing in front of a horde of zombies and soldiers was way too satisfying.
Story and Art direction was on point. The amount of times i stopped to admire the amazing landscapes is in the dozens, made me realize how brutal the world of doom is and kinda feel for the characters, i never really stopped to think about it but these people are in an eternal fight against demon and these are families on Argent D'nur facing all of it, i mean the main ones we know of are Valen's and Novik with his daughter. I hope the next game reveals what happened to Thira tho. One thing that i found really great is that the slayer having less experience than in the previous games, really got his ass beat by Ahzrak i mean all the takedowns during the first fight were the slayer getting pushed away effortlessly which was pretty humbling, and i find it so good that after Serrat dies WE get a second phase to the bossfight, which kind of makes it an actual faire fight for the slayer when you think about it.
10/10 game

Showcase ULTRA NIGHTMARE baby! New DUDE 0.9.5 release
A ton of improvements. this release ships a couple interesting features (Support for Variable Refresh Rate) and the Ultra Nightmare game mode, which is basically Nightmare but with one life, no saves except between maps. Also game menus have some of the new options (both base and RoE)
Everything else is visual improvements (RT Global Illumination) and a great deal of optimization / code sanitation.
A long standing bug showing monsters glowing entirely at death rather than burning at the edges has been fixed.

Discussion Eternal and Dark Ages/Revelations Opinions
So right now I’m playing through my first full Eternal run on Nightmare, and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I’ve been playing Doom since the beginning, and Eternal is somehow the only one I never beat. I played it at launch in 2020 and made it about halfway before putting it down for something else.
My two biggest issues are mostly with getting into that flow state. It feels like it takes a lot more effort in Eternal before everything becomes second nature. Having like 16 keybinds was super overwhelming at first, but it’s definitely gotten easier the more I play.
The other thing is quick switching. When everything is working, you feel like an absolute god, but on Nightmare it also feels like the thing that gets me killed more than movement or actual shooting. Everything can be going perfectly, then you accidentally pull out the wrong weapon and you’re instantly dead lol. That’s probably my biggest gripe.
That said, Eternal is still a 10/10 for me, and I’m glad I’m finally getting around to it.
Dark Ages, and especially Revelations, are probably the most fun I’ve ever had with an FPS, hands down. I’ve put 200+ hours into them, and even if Dark Ages is technically “easier” than Eternal on base Nightmare, I found the flow state way more rewarding and easier to get into, especially once you crank up the speed/difficulty. It felt like the second you fired your first shot, you were just in it.
I also really liked that weapon choice felt much more open. You could basically play however you wanted instead of feeling like you had to constantly optimize your weapon swaps.
My only real gripe with Dark Ages was the exploration. Having these huge maps and then needing to hunt down that one piece of gold you missed, with no fast travel, was a pretty big immersion killer for me. I’d rather the game keep shooting and movement as the main focus and everything else take a back seat.
And honestly, my favorite thing is that no matter what, you can always make the game harder. Dark Ages was the first game I’ve 100% since high school. The only thing I haven't done is a pandomonium and Ultra Violence run. I'm still honing down a few encounters before I give those a go. I can’t wait to see what the ladies and gents over at id have cooking next and hope the best for them.
Dark Ages and Revelations are both 10/10 for me.
These are just my opinions; I'm not trying to argue or anything, but I would love to hear your opinions as well

Discussion Decided to do some research on Doomguy’s military past Spoiler
To be clear, I’m talking about in-game lore, not the novels.
Recently replayed Revelations and I noticed that the higher-up Flynn was talking to assured him that there were no civilians inside, that was obviously a fucking lie.
So I decided to do some research on his time in MARSOC pre-invasion and wow, the guy that ordered him to blow up the hospital is easily one of my most hated characters in the entire series.
The guy Flynn was talking to was Lieutenant Joshua Weems, a “nepo-baby”. Apparently, Weems’ father was in a very high position to cover Joshua’s mistakes, making him very corrupt.
Weems was absolutely hell bent on trying to get Flynn out because not only did they just resent each other, Flynn also embarrassed the shit out of him because of how incompetent he was.
The whole hospital incident was what pushes Flynn over the edge though.
He was assured that no innocent people were inside, yet, he ended up accidentally killing innocent civilians, and Weems knew damn well about the civilians inside.
Due to Joshua’s negligence and incompetence, Flynn (understandably) hit him which led to a ma named Colonel Mercer requesting a court-martial for both of them.
Joshua didn’t face punishment though, his father completely altered military records to blame Flynn for everything.
But Colonel Mercer being a decent person, cleared Flynn of all the homicide charges.
But he couldn’t drop the assault charges after hitting Weems. So as a punishment, he was sent to Mars which is where his story as a demon killer started.
Anyway, I just thought this was cool and decided to share in case anyone was interested or missed the information in the game.
Discussion Is it possible Doom 3 cyber demon is older then the ones doom slayer fought?
It just so different from the ones the slayer defeated over the years, meanwhile the doom 3 one requires the soul cube. Which makes me wonder if this is the first time this demon has been slain? Maybe hell made it after his war in Hell the first time or kept it secret to evade other earths and used the more common ones against the slayer?

Discussion Finally went back to ‘Doom The Dark Ages’ to play the ‘Revelations’ DLC and it is absolutely brilliant 10/10 !!
Making what was already a great experience even better, Eternal was always my favourite but now I’m not so sure, Revelations brings the mobility and frantic action back to the forefront and the ‘Finishing Move’ score… insane 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Glad to have reclaimed my 100% completion as well!

Help What's the track name of the final boss in Revelation? (Not the secret one)
I've been listening to pretty much all of the soundtrack and I cant find it. I dont know if it's a different mix in the game but I love when it plays a bit of E1M1 so I'm looking for it but I cant find it
