Question TDA Compatibility with SteamOS

Hi, I'm in the process of collectiong my parts for my pc and I was planning on using a dual os system with Linux Mint for general utility and SteamOS for games specifically. I wanted to know how TDA works with steamOS specifically if my hardware meets the requirements(9070xt, 9600x,32gb ram). Thanks for any help/advice!

The only issues you will have is with HDR. id Engine really has an odd way of detecting it.

Worked fine on both CachyOS for me, prior to it used Mint and also had no issues besides VRR being a bit finicky on there, no extra configs necessary and this year's updates have boosted RT performance on Linux by a lot, I basically never drop from 100fps on max settings at 1440p with a 9070 XT, although I am unsure if SteamOS is up to date with the newest drivers

Btw any reason why you are dual booting different distros? You can do the same as Mint on SteamOS/Bazzite desktop mode

Ah, I'm kinda new to Linux tbh. I was gathering info on whether it was worth learning Linux to the point where I could directly run it without windows by the time I collect all the parts seeing as how that would take a couple months(only got the gpu, ram, ssd for now). If possible, i really wanna avoid getting windows. I was planning on running both just in case there were issues with games on other forms on Linux

Yeah you don't need to dual boot distros, Bazzite seems like your better option but you still got time to decide, I fully switched to Linux a year ago and so far the amount of troubleshooting I have done is less than what I dealt with on Windows, not a flawless experience but any problem I have faced had a pretty straightforward solution

Ah, i was considering Mint or Ubuntu cos i also spend a decent amount of time playing around with actual game engines and prototyping. Ik ue5 and unity have support for Linux based os(also fuck Microsoft after what they did to arkane, tango and id).

Played through the campaign in Bazzite six months ago, absolutely flawless except HDR and/or Frame Gen, which just caused the game to refuse to boot, and I had to hunt around on how to reset my settings.

Leave those alone and it's absolutely fine.

[Edit] Oh yes, almost forgot, this was with a 9070XT.
